He doesn’t really have that low damage, you can kill most of the cast with one reset and only 1 meter.
EDIT: And his resets are pretty dirty.

I know but online ruins my resets. Especially PS3 I believe there’s a 2 frame lag lol then me and my friends run into lag spikes like semi constantly. XD
I’m trying to find an alternative for the boulder loop atm
its making my life miserable
i can do it , but I feel like something more optimal is there
or at least a vortex of some sort
Yeah if there was an alternate it would be awesome, would probably be jsut as difficult at this point though.
A good oki setup would also be great and I’m sure there must be one, I already use Hidden Missiles as a pseudo “vortex” as you call it. It is pretty good but not perfect, even when they know it’s coming, there is still some guessing involved.
So I actually sat down last night before going to bed and used Strider with Rocket Raccoon in training mode. It’s actually pretty good with Vajra and digging. You literally go low as Vajra hits and it’s like full combo from their still testing the team out for now.
The main problem I can see is that setting up an unblockable is risky without some sort of projectile or multi hitting assist to hold them there blocking.
Yeah I know lol It’s more so an air punish but you can pull this off without the projectile as well I randomly call assists at times and was getting bounces with Strider without even realizing it. If anything it’ll stop people from jumping so much while you can mix up but I’m mainly using this for mixups not unblockables I don’t like relying on those.
RR/Doom (beam)/Strider (vajra) may be better, just so you have the beam for safe unblockable setups and teleport shenanigans if you want. Plus Doom/Strider have unreal synergy and Strider is lolworthy as anchor. I actually might try that, try and force the opponent to approach from the ground, where I would prefer it. Still no protection against tracking teleports though unfortunately.
You mean thankfully, if Vajira answered everything he’d be the only assist used.
I meant in the team as a whole, not just the Vajra assist, that would be kinda crazy if it was such a great pressure tool, combo extender AND protection against teleports. What I meant was I have nothing in this team to help protect against RRs lack of options against teleports (unless he’s sitting on a trap or something).
I hate Doom.
There are plenty of other options, that was basically just my team idea haha, the advantage of a beam over arrows is that it will hit any character as far as I’m aware. You say you don’t like relying on unblockables, but it’s good to use all the tools the character has to your advantage. RRs unblockable is by no means a game winner on its own, or else everyone would be talking about him in the same conversations as Zero and Viper. It’s just a solid setup that when you manage to pull off, guarantees 600k+ damage with no reset, it’s part of what makes RR truly viable in my opinion.
I really need to stop changing my teams around so much, especially seeing as what assists you chose basically define how you will play RR.
I know I just really don’t like Doom. He’s just not my character lol I tried Hawkeye and he was my old anchor but just didn’t like if you rushed him down it was just terrible. I should apologize though because I didn’t break down my team.
Vergil (Rapid Slash) -On point. Basically I start with Vergil and deal out damage with him other time. In most cases where I’m not tired I actually kill about 1-2 characters with him. I use Rapid Slash because it’s his best assist pretty much. Opponent blocks puts them in stun I believe and they get dragged good for potential mixups. If they don’t block RR can dig and launch into a combo (Scaling is applied but I’ve never tested how much)
Rocket Raccoon (Pendulum)-Second slot. I actually start him second even though I should move him to on point. I normally have him waiting in the back. I should use the Log more but I’m still learning when and when not to use it. Basically since Vergil has ports and stupid range he can get hit confirms when log hits. Also good way to mix up incoming opponents (need to test it more). RR’s job is to either clean what Vergil didn’t finish or mix up or annoy the opponent. Sometimes I’ve actually made comebacks with just RR or wake up level 3’s Working on TK Spitfire shots to cover my tracks and traps for stopping the opponent. Mad Hopper is a good anti-air at times and just stops the opponent in some cases.
Strider Hiryu(Vajra)-Anchor. Pretty obvious X-Factor+Ouroboros. Beyond that he has mixups upon mixups without assists or with. Vajra is a good lockdown if you don’t call it at the wrong time (curse being tired lol) Still learning him atm because I dropped Hawkeye for him and was more consistent with Strider despite health. So far I have some basic combos and mix ups. I actually use log as a combo extender to his slide. Strider pretty much just kills what left or uses orbs. Again I use Vajra for mixups and lockdown. It’s actually surprising how many times you can hit with it and not realize it connected.
That’s basically the team. More so just mixups and they all DHC. Health is the keypoint of it and execution too seeing it’s Rocket and Strider. (Vergil has some) Besides being an anti-air Pendulum serves as a combo extender to Vergil or Strider. With Vergil it works anywhere on screen and builds a bar if you do the right combo. Strider it’s more so more damage but the timing can be rough if you miss it. I’m still learning the ins and outs seeing I didn’t use Vergil til recently again and Strider I picked maybe a few days ago. Only character I have so far that is fine is Rocket Raccoon who I mained day 1 and dropped only to switch back to again like Vergil.
Even though this is the wrong thread for this now lol, I think that is a pretty good team. Log Trap can be used to make Vergil’s exceptionally unsafe strings safe and as jump in deterrent. Your team looks very corner dependant, I believe Rapid Slash should allow you to set up boulder trap unblockables in the corner, but outside the corner I think Rapid Slash will push them away correct? Could use it for cross ups as well. You can probably also use it for a full corner carry combo then apply pressure into unblockable, sounds pretty good overall especially with lolouboros in the back.
Rapid Slash always pushes them away even on block. At first I thought this was bad until I realized you can dig and can get a combo off it lol I believe you can cross up with it as the assist I believe loses the cross up capability like it does when Vergil uses it normally but I remember one day I dug while Vergil did it and they didn’t move past RR when I stood behind(?) Again I have to test the team out more.
You always have to block the direction of the point character, so I meant call Rapid Slash and burrow cross up haha.
Okay I understand now lol
I really want to know if this works.
If you dig after calling Vergil out when RR comes out on the other side you can launch into a full combo. Now I don’t know what will happen if you do it before I have to see.
Okay I actually sat down a few mins ago and tested this. What you do it when you call Vergil you have two options. Either dig after calling the assist button or let the assist come out and delay the teleport and combo. Now here’s where things get tricky. If you dig right after calling Vergil’s Rapid Slash he will literally drag them into RR as you come out behind and can score a mix up into a combo. If you delay the dig you can combo off of the assist with s.M into what you want. Also to go along with Tomo mentioned if you do this in a corner you can place a boulder trap and possibly go into the loop but I don’t know how to do the loop. If you call the assist and dig like QUICKLY afterwards you’ll come out first place a boulder trap and Vergil basically slides them into it. This also works on block and you can get ambiguous mixups and blockstrings.
