Anime & Manga Thread v.6.0 Crunchyroll Sucks Now, Come Back Funimation! Come Back!

Just think of the TV series as the internal shit inside of the head and End of Evangelion has more outside real life shit going on.

Now you can get on the rebuild movies.

That’s how I was thinking it was going but then Shinji’s internal monologue in the movie at the end seems like he is just doomed to keep failing. The TV show seems to infer he got the concept of the perception of self.

So are Shinji and Asuka the only two “humans” left?

Big picture, so i’ll just hide it.

All that makes sense. Wrapping my head around the movie ending after watching the other just made it strange. To me, the show did a better job highlighting the human connection aspect. I do think that the movie did a better job showing the “Third Impact”.

It’s one of those series that’s very heavy on self interpretations so not everyone will look at it the same way.

My head canon is the two endings are just different sides of the same coin. Others may see it as completely divergent from each other though.

I definitely think these are the same. Two things I will say about this anime:

  1. This show was a far cry from what I was expecting (in a good way).

  2. I kept thinking about the show’s parallel with Dead Space, especially how the ending worked.

Honestly I see talks about Evangelion being overrated, but I think it has held up very well. It’s still a great anime about depression, expectations of young adults, and mental health in general.

I think Eva is over rated, but I also don’t think over rated means bad. Things become over rated for a reason, generally.

Y’all fuking up if you not watching Fate Grand Order.

I got the City Hunter Season 1, part 1 bluray from Discotek Media today.
I watched the first 2 episodes.

There is a slipcover with the image of Ryo , Kaori, Saeko and all the girls. The menu is basically that shot with , “play, episodes, and subtitles”. (On the first disc)

The actual Bluray cover is Ryo shooting towards the camera.

The image quality is so awesome! The colors pop, not much dirt, and no real “ghosting” so far.
As someone who first saw City Hunter TV on ADV’s VHS and DVD releases in the late 90s-2003, this is a huge step above imo! The remastering work is superb.

The sound is solid and clear. I wish the sound effects were punchier, but thats my only nitpick. I have been watching Batman TAS this past month and was spoiled by their sound effects lol

The subtitles are a easy to read yellow font and the OP and Ending songs are teal or aqua color.
The Op and ENDING sequences do not have English “overlays” so the song translation at the bottom is the only element added.

The back of the disc lists textless op and ED sequences, but it wasnt on the first disc. I Guess they are on the second disc?

Anyway, I recommend CH fans get this. I am looking forward to Discotek’s further CH releases and hope we won’t have to wait too long for the next set.

Honestly i’m too old to fall into that war or even bother. It’s stupid easy to find either dub/sub anime in any form today that it’s a moot point. I’m just happy that i can stream it on any device, download it on the go and even hit up a local AMC to watch it. Just watch and enjoy i say. At least here i can watch my hentai in peace
