*The rotoscoping has it’s uncanon valley moments, specially when a person is talking and you can see their unnatural looking teeth. But the detail captured in body language and eye shifting more than makes up for that in my opinion. The overall tone in the animation style feels more real compared to traditional animating yet retains enough flavor of traditional animation to raise suspension of disbelieve and creates a aperture in the realism that’s inherently induced by rotoscoping. It could be better no doubt but I feel like it works in the context of the show, at least as far as the 2 episodes I’ve seen is concerned. My thoughts on episode 2 below.

[details=Spoiler]Really good episode, it’s furthering the plot points that was understated in the first episode. The main character pointing out the urban decay and how the mountains surrounding the town is certainly interesting. Those two points in particular capsulating his inner feelings of hindrance, isolation, and the potentially slow degradation of his idealisms and purity. Another interesting note for me is his reference of sin and how the red headed girl will eventually play apart in his ā€œfall from graceā€. The red haired girl in general seem to be a rather interesting character.

Her defiance of the norm seem to be parralel to the main character though she carries a noticeably more aggressive streak in place of the main characters timidity. I wonder what role she will play in making the main characters ā€œevil flower bloomā€ and how far in ā€œbloomā€ is her own flower. Why has she tooken a interest in him and what is the basis of her wanting to form a contract with him. Is she solely doing it to eradicate the purity of the main character while playing the She-Devil role or is her reasoning far less sinister and more ambivalent. Either way I’m sure her constitution will play a far bigger part in everything than Saeki.

Also I’m really interested in what role the main characters father will ultimately play. The forshading of his mothers words (you’re just like your father) and his father seemingly knowing words stemming from his own pubescent hardships. [/details]

After seeing Little Witch Academia and Death Billard from this years Young Animator Training Project I decided to go back and check out some of the older ones from previous years.

This is Wasurenagumo (Li’l Spider Girl) from last year’s Young Animator Training Project.

That ending, god damn… I don’t even think School Days can compare

Japan’s gotta stop with these creepy endings.

They make these little OVAs that turn out better than the stuff they’re made to make professionally.

Liking Gargan and Valrave…Gargan diff has that old school banner/crest of the stars feeling to it.

Yondemasu yo, Azazel san Z episode 3, oscar worthy.

I cannot get over Mikasa’s damn lips in AoT. I have no clue why they keep giving her these ridiculous lips and no other girl in the series has them. it stands out like a sore thumb and there’s LITERALLY NO REASON FOR THEM TO DO IT. She is 12-13 and looks like she a 20 something about to hit the club, come on people.

And oh my god, yes, Azazel san 3 had me dying. I haven’t laughed that hard at an anime in a long time. So stupid that it’s genius.

Lol that ending made me laugh. Death Billiards is fucking awesome and should be a series.

Potato Girl for the win! Another good episode for Shingeki no Kyojin hopefully we can fly past the rest of the training part and get to fighting some titans

On the Young Animator Training Projects. Most, if not all of them are designed to give younger animators a chance at larger responsibilities on bigger projects first and foremost. They’re not really suppose to sell, which is why you see a lot more creative freedom in them. Not that I’m complaining really, all the ones I’ve seen so far have been pretty damn enjoyable. Although thanks to Wasurenagumo (Li’l Spider Girl), I can never look at spiders the same way again, shit this must be how phobia’s develop lol. But really man, that ending just left me totally speechless, was not expecting it at all and the way they just played it off so naturally as if it were no big deal…

Checked out first two episodes of Gargantia and Aku no Hana. Both are pretty good shit. Aku no Hana, the characters and the rotoscoping ain’t so bad when you see it in motion. It surprisingly fits the mundane and suspenseful atmosphere that they’re aiming for really well.

Saw second episode of Red Data Girl and despite having that one really suspenseful scene I still kinda feel the same way as I did with the first episode. It’s probably because I have like zero care for any of the characters in this show. Might watch the next few episodes and see if it’ll grow on me or not.

I was digging that lil spider girl 1 shot…wish there was a away it could be extended somehow.

Anyways I’m looking for some new action anime. I already went over the list on the 1st page so I was just curious if there was anymore suggestions. If possible could anyone here recommend a action anime with some good humor mixed into it as well, somewhat in the spirit of DBZ and one piece?

Trigun and Samurai Champloo. Full Metal Panic if you like mechs. Tiger and Bunny is about Superhero celebrities.

My only problem with Mikasa’s lips is it makes her look alot older then she is and that’s saying something considering they already look old for 14 year olds
Also the lack of dead eyes is a little jarring but I’m sure I’ll get use to it.
Atleast Potato-chan is still fine

Girls grow faster than boys guys it’s perfectly natural lol.

I like how Mikasa is supposed to be like the last Jap left but she is the whitest one there besides the obvious blonde people there.

lol fmp fucked me up with the racist episode…i was like im done with this show.

She’s only half oriental

Mikasa has a European surname, IIRC. Too lazy to look it up.

Also, shoutouts to potatoes.

Thanks man I’ll check those out.

Is hunter X hunter and one piece worth getting into?

One Piece is worth it, if you can handle the style of it. Have not watched Hunter x Hunter. But it will consume you time once you get into One Piece, since there is over 700 chapters and close to 600 episodes.
