Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Seriously, who finds and does this stuff. I’m dying here.

Oh my god that vid is so good. Hahahaha.

Karneval - First episode made very little sense but it was kind of interesting. It’s worth a few more episodes before deciding to drop the series or not.

Shingeki no Kyojin 2 - They extended their childhood quite a bit in this episode and it looks like they might extend their military training in the next episode. I don’t mind the extensions as the manga does get into the thick of things quickly without too much development of the characters.

Also, that bollywood video is awesome.

I find it funny that you find Valvrave episode 1 bad (prior to the end) when it was basically the first episode of most Gundam’s including Gundam Seed.

Valvrave is pretty much the Gundam of this season, complete with TM Revolution opening theme (featuring Shoko Nakagawa), so while the plot line for episode one wasn’t anything new it was still entertaining nonetheless. It’ll be interesting to see which mecha show turns out the best of the season but really it’s a battle between Gagantia and Valvrave.

Chihayafuru 2 - 14

[]While Arata continues to compose his apology letter, Shinobu spends some time memorizing/going over card verses. Arata also learns that Mizusawa has advanced to the semi-finals. Shinobu asks Arata to play a match in order to ‘kill time’, but Arata turns her down.
[
]Nishida loses his match to Yuu, the only other vocal (featured) girl on the Akashi team. Kana wins her match, resulting in a 1-1 tie for the moment. Taichi goes on to win his match, giving Mizusawa a 2-1 win lead over Akashi.
[]The match continues between Chihaya and Megumu, with moments of each girl taking ‘favored’ cards of their opponent. In the end, Megumu is able to win for Akashi, resulting in the wins for each team being tied at 2-2, the final win being dependent on Komano’s match.
[
]Hokuo has lost to Fujisaki, 1-4.
[]After a number of ‘dead cards’ are read, Komano makes a move to take his opponent’s last card, giving Mizusawa the win over Akashi, 3-2. Both Chihaya and Megumu have a reaction to their personal performance, in regard to team stuffs.
[
]Apparently, Komano took a chance in the final exchange against his opponent, though it came down to a 50-50 situation, and he made use of the notebook data on observed Karuta matches.
[*]Chihaya dwells a bit on her loss/performance, but Taichi breaks her out of her funk. As Mizusawa prepares to face Fujisaki in the grand final, Tsukuba makes a play to switch himself in for Kana. It appears that Kana may take up Tsukuba on his request to play.

  • Sudou is hella disappoint at Hokuo’s performance. I’m thinking that Amakasu is probably the one who got his team’s only win.
  • Besides, Chihaya and Kana, female players are few and far between, much less notable, with few exceptions (Shinobu, Yumi, and maybe some others). Megumu was a nice feature opponent for Chihaya at this time, with their match in the team tournament being a highlight moment/event for me this season. I hope to see Megumu again in the future.
  • Kana and Komano got their shine in this team match, especially since they both got (decisive) wins for Mizusawa.

Can’t wait for the birth of the motherfucking KING in hxh, shit is about to get real.

Second ep of Titan was also wonderful.

someone help me here i need a title

i dont know if its anime or visual novel or whatever

but the premise is a guy who sees this evil black shadow creature as a beautiful girl and they form a bond?

Blue Dragon Ral Grado maybe?

Saya no Uta?

omg that rings a bell… is it the one where that creature only appears the way you want it to look like? In other words, that guy wanted to see a beautiful girl and voila?

Tasogare Otome Amnesia comes to mind, but this doesn’t get revealed until episode 10.

It’s Saya no Uta.

Am i the only one who watches anime in clumps and gets depressed when its over, then get the intro on my iphone and get depressed again when i listen to it?

I was sad when Maoyuu Maou Yuusha ended.

saya no uta indeed guys thanks

Only sometimes.

Tasogare Otome Amnesia aka Dusk Maiden of Amnesia?

Gargantia: I like the premise of some ordinary guy becoming a big fish in a small pond since earth is a few centuries behind the rest of mankind. Although I can already see the witch hunt happening because they will eventually see him as menace and will run him out just before their hour of greatest need.
I like robot shows where there are only a few “good” robots. Like, in the first season of code geass, it was 1 genius in 1 super robot taking on an empire, that was cool. Season 2 was a whole bunch of super robots fighting each other.

Kyojin: Well…not much happened in episode 2…I guess just setting up for the show proper…but I felt the first episode did a good enough job. Pretty confident Misaka is going to die. I mean, I got the feeling in episode 1 that she was too intelligent and strong to survive a show like this…but the whole “I will protect you and make sure you live” thing just kind of raises death flags all over the place. I mean sure, it will be a heroic death, but yeah…she gon’ get eat.

I’m rarely able to follow an anime every week for the whole season. After two weeks, most of the stuff I start on goes into my backlog. I’d have to be really into it to keep on it.

i dunno, its a matter of time and place i guess. seeing it for the first time, it was mad hype(gundam seed). gundam seed was my first exposure to watching anime not on cartoon network. so yea at the time it was hype and left a lasting impression, but now i have watched so much shit, seeing something like that again in another anime is not so hype. if that makes any sense.

I only get depressed when I realize that I will NEVER be able to act out on my pedophilic tendencies irl because children these days are stronger than me.

Just kidding, I am not like you faggots LOL!!!

Another recap episode for Space Bros. next week. 3 in a row. A new record? It’s not like they’re running out of material or anything.

I think the most interesting thing about Valvrave was that opening theme. Let’s see if it’ll be a trainwreck or not; but at least the mech fights are pretty.

Gargantia will probably be my favorite mecha series of this season if it keeps up the quality after 2 episodes in. Chamber is boss.

Speaking of which, I’m surprised Ken isn’t watching Majestic Prince or talking about it…

o of course im watching it, i love his character art. the anime is not great, but its not bad either. but i went into this season with low expectations for everything, so yea.

only animes i truly look forward to every week are chihayafuru and hxh
