Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

I don’t care about Dota, but I do care about the song choice. Shit be sounding like a victory anthem when what’s happening is anything but. They should’ve never made a 2nd OP and just kept the 1st one all the way through.

Attack on Titan #21
One word. **FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK. **
(AoT #21 Spoiler)

[details=Spoiler]Everybody getting fucking bodied. Literally.
RIP Petra
RIP Eld
RIP Bossard
RIP Gunther from last episode as well.

Squad Levi has gone to shits, hell the whole Recon Corps has. Almost no ones even left anymore.

This bitch be on a Daigo kumite like winning streak. Transforming twice? Muthafucker, that’s like pulling two Ultra’s out per round! She be pulling some next level bullshit. I like Annie and all, but man is this hard to overlook. I really hope it’s not her despite how obvious it is.

EDIT: It just hit me, but in before Eren transforms a second time inside of that bitch. That’d be a sight to see. BEHOLD![/details]

New Minami-ke OVA is out now too. Gotta balance that shit out with some laughs now lol

Holy shit that Attack on titans episode was Hype as Fuck!

AoT out yet?

That AoT episode was the hypest thing I’ve watched in years. Holy shit.

Yes, now go get fucked up like the rest of us lol

Time to watch me some titan. Got some buffalo wings and my lady went to work?

AoT #20 was some great shit.

[spoiler=]From what Armin said it makes me believe that the Titans have moles on the inside. If that’s the case than Titans are nothing more than biomechs. [/spoiler]

^ That’s pretty much what I was thinking too.

Spoiler

Very Eva-esque if true.

Yeah I can’t stop rewatching this ep despite needing mad sleep

[details=Spoiler]Once he transformed I was like “This is some shit”. Then they go and deliver like that. It’s just too godlike. Fuuuuuuck.

Haven’t read the manga so trying to figure out where this’ll lead is pretty impossible. Thing is this Titan outmatched Eren pretty easily, it outsmarted Erwin and his plan to isolate it in the forest, whilst being agile enough to hang with every soldier who’s come at it using their 3DMG. This person is leagues ahead of Eren in terms of controlling their “biomech”, OP techniques such as skin hardening, Titan calling, controlling it’s own healing rate and a pretty badass roundhouse, so I don’t know who or what is meant to stop it

In the midst of all this I’m here still trying to figure out the mole’s motives, 4 fucking episodes to find all this out amongst all the other 100s of unanswered questions. Yeah, this series isn’t really ending at episode 25 is it[/details]

AoT confirmed FOR GOD DAMN BREAKING BAD TIER

There’s currently 5559 seeders for Shingeki ep20 by Horridsubs. Jesus Christ.

How many episodes is AoT gonna be? I think my prediction of were it ins is gonna come true, if they drag this out, which they will.

Manga spoiler

[details=Spoiler] gonna end at the end of the mission, where they say it’s the most disastrous recon mission in history and they’re being disbanded. If it’s 24 episodes. I don’t think they’re gonna go into trying to lure annie underground and the wall titan, unless it’s 25-26 episodes.

AoT delivered and then some

[details=Spoiler]
Man I thought Eren might have a shot for second. He was dishing out some nasty hooks. But that female titan with that superior tech!
I 'm curious going forward, how the Survey squad will deal with that hardening technique. [/details]

It’s been confirmed for 25 episodes + an OVA so far. But I think it’s probably safe to say they’ll definitely continue it somewhere down the line.
EDIT:
AoT#21

[details=Spoiler]You know thinking back on the episode, after Eren broke his arm by KKZ’ing that shit straight into the ground. You’d figured his next one should’ve came from the side instead to avoid it being dodged again. Hell he should’ve been hooking her left and right from the start. No dodging that, where your head going to go at girl? lol

god dam titan 21, you have exceeded my expectations!

HxH, I’m slightly disappointed the impromptu brain surgery was a little less graphic than I envisioned it from the manga. Good episode though.

Out of this week’s anime, the only thing more devastating than that AoT episode was Watamote.

Watamote episode 8.
Attack on titan episode 21.

Both were pretty damn godlike.

My prediction on how Episode 22 is going to look?

] Levi & Mikasa hunt FT down, going toe to toe till Hardened neck. So instead of 2 swords, THEY GO WITH TWO IN EACH HAND and do some cool ass combo attack with 8 swords and break that shit son [/spoiler

[details=Spoiler]

How is watamote episode 9 going to look?

[spoiler=] HILARIOUSLY DEPRESSING. [/details]

Well I’m glad I read the manga, must suck to have unmarked spoilers detailing character deaths shoved in front of you a day after the epsode come out.

For those who have watched AoT 20
[spoiler=]I have absolutely zero idea how humans are going to win(if they ever do), there better be some deus ex machina hidden in the basement[/spoiler]

Yo wtf man learn to spoiler that shit.

AoT Episode 21:

[details=Spoiler]We finally reached the part where I was kind of dreading ever since Levi’s squad was introduced. It was quite foreboding for me since I already knew that the entire squad gets wiped out brutally. This is particularly why I really enjoyed how they developed Eren’s relationship with Levi’s squad, and how this arc was developing Eren’s internal struggle of trust in friends vs trust in himself. The end results really showed a growth in his character and he had to learn the weight of Levi’s words the hard way.

Overall, the anime adaptation of this episode was really good with the decimation of the squad being just about as brutal as the manga was followed by Eren’s unleashed rage vs the female titan. The one part that didn’t have the same impact for me was Levi’s return to see the remains of his entire squad. For me, it was the combination of how quick the scene went by, the music arrangement, and the lack of narration that made it feel like it had less impact than the manga. In the manga, the start of that chapter was Levi arriving at the scene and overlooking the corpses of his squad followed by the subtitle of “Levi’s squad…the reunion without words”, as he’s overlooking Petra’s corpse. It’s the combination of Levi’s silence and his stoic expression that made that scene for me.[/details]

Manga Spoilers:

[details=Spoiler]There should actually be enough episodes to cover the capture of Annie. I just re-read that portion of the manga and the retrieval of Eren and declaring the mission a disaster should all be covered in the next episode. This should leave them 3-4 episodes to capture Annie and while I think that might be cutting it a bit close it’s still manageable.

Ideally, I think it should end where Irvine is discussing with the council about the after math of the mission and then the solider busts in to declare something about Wall Rose. That leaves that giant cliff hangar where people are going to spasm over and keep the fan base from wanting a second season asap. Of course, we all know that’s not going to happen any time soon because there’s not enough content to do another 26 episode season, at least I don’t think so. I could see them doing a shorter 13 episode season and cover up to the point of Ymir being a Titan as well.[/details]

So I’ve continued to watch Free! this entire time and the series, surprisingly, didn’t turn into a slice of life show that the recent string of KyoAni shows have turned into. That being said, the series feels more about the character development with the competitive swimming just being a plot device. It doesn’t look like the show will focus on competitive swimming to the same level of sports animes. The thing that makes sports anime hype is the strategies and self narration of the characters when they’re going through the motions. I’m not really sure how you could convey that same level of excitement with competitive swimming because the nature of the sport ends in 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the length of the race.
