Anyone reading the symphogear manga (along w/ the anime). Liking the manga although it gets right to the point and into the action while the anime gives the characters more backstory and explains some things more.
I never liked FLCL at all. Just felt like well-animated shit thrown at wall.
Just started Dorohedero. Liking it alot, four volumes deep, canât front though i like the magic users more than Kaiman adn Nikado.
Dorohedoro is pretty sweet but itâs kind of been dragging itâs feet the past volume or so. Iâd say itâs passed itâs peak.
Also, nothing inherently wrong with disliking Baccano. Of course, it means youâre a plebeian, but you canât really do much about that anyways.
Kind of wish the manga was just about Ebisu, Noi, En, and crew. Theor [retty interesting and much more likable than Kaiman so far Who is still pretty chill.
It brought in the dark, depressing themes of the manga, without really explaining them⌠its basically a more whimsical version of Neon GenesisâŚ
Everyone in that show suffers from *(sadly unexplained) psychological issuesâŚ
If they did more of the main characterâs(Naotaâs) inner monologue, youâd be like âman all of these people are really fucked upâ⌠with more money and episodes it wouldâve been better than it turned
I wish these two shows were still on-air
I didnât really feel like i needed the characters fucked-up-ness spelled out for me in FLCL. Itâs pretty easy to see everyone is fuckin messed up.
And the Manga came after the show Bulldancer.
What is the latter video from?
Just click on that âwatch on youtubeâ
its crazy how a shitty anime like FLCL can receive so much positive feedback.or maybe its because adult swim kept that show for like 7-9 years
flcl was pretty good.
Keep in mind the timing of when FLCL was released. Thatâs probably when the anime craze was just happening in North America and we started seeing titles become main stream on network television. Itâs probably why a lot of people hold the series dear.
Stylistically I like FLCL but I canât really remember too much about the series now so I donât know if it stands the test of time for me. I just remember the show being incredibly random.
Humanity has Declined / Jinrui wa Sutai Shimashita
Most cynical anime of 2012. (Also the weirdest one of 2012 IMO)
So Iâve just joined and havenât had a chance to read through the thread so sorry if this one has already been mentioned (though I have my doubts).
I canât recommend âToaru Majutsu no Indexâ (A certain magical index) enough. It just delivers everything. Itâs got futuristic technology, magic, espers, fanservice, humour, exhilarating fight sequences and a fantastic score to back it up. The anime is based on a series of light novels that are also an excellent read (although the English translations can be quite an involved endeavour for those who donât excel at reading). The series has such an immense depth to the lore surrounding it that is just fantastic to get immersed in. From character/power origins, to the struggle between science and religion (who are represented by magic users). It also explores ideas of human research, as well as the ethical implications of pushing the boundaries of science and technology.
This series just offers so much. Are there any other fans/critics on here?
Ps. Hereâs the opening credits just to give you an idea of the art/music/character style. I could have picked a better clip but I didnât want to reveal any spoilers.
Index isnât that good, but it does have a really fun universe and characters and is a pretty worthy watch.
I just feel that the series has been overlooked. Especially with only about 1/8 of the novels having been translated into anime form.
Personally Iâm a huge fan of series that make you think, as well as those that offer you a rich backdrop to explore outside of the episode to episode context.
I donât know that itâs been overlooked to any significant degree. it and Railgun are pretty damn popular.

I donât know that itâs been overlooked to any significant degree. it and Railgun are pretty damn popular.
But itâs still not as well known as say, Black Butler which was released the same year. Add in Shugo Chara, Skip Beat and even Vampire Night which were all released in 2008 as anime series and you can see how I justify the âoverlookedâ.
Okay, i have no idea who you are talking to/hanging around or whatever, but if you think those shows are more well-known than Index/Railgun, thereâs nothing to talk about. Shugo Chara? Skip Beat? What?
