This anime gets so much better with each episode.
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet was so hype. After watching this episode it leaves many questions.
For instance, it’s obvious the hideauze originated from Earth, in that sense, why did they follow mankind? How did they adapt to space? What was the spark that started the war between the two in the first place? Why did all the whale squid come in that large school? Was it to ascertain whether or not mankind was a threat after the death of their kin? if mankind evolves further on earth, will they attack like the protagonist predicted? Furthermore, why are the remnants of civilization prior to the flood also the territory of the whale squid? Are they guarding some sort of secret?
Also who started the war? The Hideauze or the Humans? Prrobably the later, because of greed, like it is shown with Pinion and Flange who wants to salvage in their territory…
How did those whalesquids reach space??? Human interference?
I have a really good feeling that the answers to these, as well as how things came to be, will be revealed upon discovering more in those ancient underwater ruins.

[details=Spoiler] I’m starting to wonder if Ledo has actually traveled back in time rather than simply through space, a long enough time would explain him not being able to figure out where he is from stars and stuff as they will have slowly moved over the millenia and the first evacuation of Earth could have been due to flooding rather than Hideauze with them possibly following after the events happening at the moment, maybe even gaining the means to do so or getting provoked into action by what Ledo is doing.

The Hideauze situation reminds me of the ELS situation from the Gundam 00 movie. For one reason or more, humanity somehow managed to piss off the Hideauze/Whalesquids (salvaging their homes/deep sea expeditions that can’t be done without harming the Hideauze). That eventually leads to the space wars between the human race and Hideauze. Ledo is probably going to realize that the only reason the war started was because of this misunderstanding; which can be seen in the scene in the episode where Chambers mentions “coexistence and coprosperity” as a linguistic difference between the humans on Earth and the humans from Ledo’s world. And of course, I think there must be some kind of symbolism with Ledo’s flutes being made out of Hideauze teeth.
It came off pretty obvious to me at Attack of Titans 7… but what I want to know is how the fuck it happened because it’s some godawful shit if they don’t BS this well. lol
I’ve been thinking the exact same thing. We could be wrong, but the more I think about it I feel this is actually a very real possibility.

Attack on Titan is INCREDIBLE. So is Valvrave. YES!
Valvrave is horrible. But I think the writers have realized how awful they are and don’t give any fucks anymore, so the show has evolved into a “so bad it’s good” show now. I kind of like it.
Eh, I think it was getting better for a while, but that last episode dove headfirst into so-bad-its-good territory.
