*Attack on Titan is at it’s best when it’s worldbuilding and giving us a look into the characters idealisms and how they deal with situations other than the impending doom caused by the hands of the Titans. Episode 6 was easily the best episode of the series so far, from start to finish. Anywho onto my thoughts on Flowers of Evil episode seis:
[details=Spoiler]Well would you look at that. Looks like our little Kasuga is popular now that little miss perfect is his woman. He’s finally earned the acceptance and the acknowledgement of his peers that all kids that age wants. Except it looks like Kasuga isn’t exactly ready to bath in his new found popularity and I can’t blame him, Naka is ominously observing everything he does. Which I have to note her body language has changed from dominant to something more docile or subservience ever since their bathroom meeting. Likewise the same could be said about Kasuga as it seems he’s shedding his languid timidity and has become more bold and assertive as Yamada notes while in the bathroom.
I got to mention that I find Saeki’s character more intriguing as the show goes on: by shifting the P.O.V of events from Kasuga to Saeki events things play out drastically different compared to Kasugas experience. To her it seems like Kasuga and Nakamura is friends and that Nakamura probably pushed him into her so that Kasuga would admit that he likes her. Kasuga spoke up about Nakas innocence and showed his bravery despite everyone labeling her as a weirdo and thief. Her experience with him on the date was remarkably different as he showed himself to be incredibly knowledgeable on literature and doesn’t just use it as shield from society. These differences have probably attracted him to her, when I look at it from this angle I see the curious side of Saeki come out that mirrors Kasuga and Nakamura.
…And then of course Saeki repeats exactly what I just said, except in far fewer words (lol). I also have to note that I love how the direction/animation team has really explored Nakamuras physiognomy. It’s gone from sinister to curious, to cherub like and most surprisingly enough it’s normalcy during the Lunch scene. Or how amazingly composed she looked during the Library scene when she attempted to strip away Kasugas “wholesome perfection” perception of Saeki. Naka steadily tries to brings Kasugas repressed sexual desire out of him though Kasu is putting up one hell of a fight to keep that wall up.
The last quarter of the show wrapped up pretty fast and had me waiting for him to meet her parents. Suffice to say I’m wetter than Otters pocket for the next episode. [/details] *
