On a sports anime binge, I had seen chunks of Aim for the Ace, Ippo, first season of Big Windup/Swing (depending on where you watch it). So far I’ve really been enjoying Major, at the mid-point of season 2 right now. Ashita no Joe is just about the coolest thing ever, the animation style is so…rugged! I can’t imagine a show being made now with that kind of style. And finally a few episodes into Prince of Tennis, I’m really not digging it. Echizen is pretty much in beast mode all the time, does it continue like this through the whole series?
Prince of Tennis is retarded while trying to be cool which doesn’t work for me lol. Eyeshield 21 was alright because it never took itself seriously in it’s retardedness.

Maybe the problem with the 2009 FMA anime is that it stuck too close to the manga. I didn’t read it, but I could see how certain techniques would work for one format and not another. For instance, characters repeating lines might have happened because in a monthly format, people are likely to forget some of the details of the previous chapter.
Might have to check out Monster. Not watching much else right now.

Yeah, Monster is so gdlk. That nigga is still on the prowl, though, which is scary in more ways than one.
Hopefully Billy Bat ends up just as gdlk and gets animated.

In regards to FMP, I would certainly hope Sousuke and Kaname finally become a couple a decent amount of time before the novels end. It would add a nice twist of flavor to the series, especially since the whole “I like you but I won’t admit it” schtick is only resolved at the very end of a series 99% of the time. Kind of growing tired of that schtick. It’d be a helluva lot more interesting watching them deal with their relationship while TRYING NOT TO DIE and such.
i was watching monster on sci fi but they random air it.like one week they air it then next week they dont wtf.anyway i didnt like the ending

Agreed 100%. I know it’s part marketing: the longer you hold off the kiss, the longer you keep people hooked. But it’s also maddenning because, in reality-ville, and even in Japan, people kiss and people fuck. And people fall in and out of love. And there is TONS of conflict inherent in relationships to fuel storytelling.
DISCLAIMER: that doesn’t mean a story can’t do the whole “part of the story’s climax is the admission of love” thing. Just hate that every anime/manga/whatever does it.
Is Gato as cool in the show as he is in DWG3?
I think the main problem is that anime/manga does it all the fucking time and it’s really starting to get old. I mean if it’s a romantic comedy or romance kind of thing I’d understand, but when the main part of the story DOES NOT follow two characters’ romantic relationship, it gets old.

You should watch One outs. godlike mind games.
yea that shit became part of my top 5 instantly.
I don’t see how PoT took itself any more serious than Eyeshield. At least PoT actually seemed to understand how tennis actaully works, even if it did DBZ it all to hell.
Exactly, which is why KareKano is the greatest.
You just hate Eyeshield because you love football. Eyeshield never took itself seriously.
…when did I say Eyeshield took itself seriously? I’m saying Prince of Tennis didn’t either, and I’m not sure why you think it did. Yes, I like football, so I’d like a football-based anime to show at least a general understanding of how football works. When core concepts like downs basically get ignored, it becomes a bit too detached.

Rurouni Kenshin and Death Note mangas, as good as people say they are?
Depends on who you listen to but they are both good yes. I wouldn’t say either one is FUCKIN AMAZING though.
