Please tell me it doesn’t take the entirety of the story for Sosuke and Kaname to finally become a couple…
They’re talking about Haruhi.
Damn abbreviations.
One thing I want to point out is that Japanese story telling in general is pretty theatrical, so there are alot of expositions like that. I honestly think that they, Japan, in general does not think it’s a bad thing because I see it SO much. While there probably are some universal ground rules for what is good writing and not, I do think a big chunk of it is cultural differences. Especially for cultures as far apart as American and Japanese.
Yeah, the FSN anime sucks. I’d recommend reading the visual novel, but that’s a huge time investment.
Fate Zero will probably be ALOT better though. It’s being made by a different, and proven good studio
I was talking about Full Metal Panic when I said it sank my ship. Talking about Haruhi for the novels.
Whoa, Haruhi nekkid sex pix with band members? There is no good in this world. /otakufag
No fmp spoilers, please. I still have hope for it getting animated.
Never give up! Never give up…

man it must suck being a women in japan and i guess there are some good things about it too like
female teachers having sex with their students and only getting 4 or 5 years while a guy gets like 20 lol
So I know there are a few Bamboo Blade fans in here, so it might interest you to know that the writer for the manga is currently doing a new one called Haru Polish. It’s almost the same premise but Iaido instead of Kendo. He has a new artist this time around too so the art is way better lol
I always did like Iaido over Kendo, may check this out.
There’s a lot of sociogender issues in Japan. A lot of social issues period, actually. I’ve read more than a few newspaper editorials about Japan that claim the country never had a 60s, so to speak. In fact, SRK’s Azrael posted extensively on the topic pre-Cloudflare. It’d be cool to find his writing again, but I don’t remember his website…
Oh, I do understand that writing/storytelling methods will change depending on where you come from. I’m a former huge anime fan, and back when I crushed on it harder than I currently crush on Classic American Animated Zelda, I always defended it the same way. And even now, the defense holds.
But I do see anime that doesn’t fall into the “say the same thing 9 times” trap, stuff that implies subtext and weaves exposition into the narrative without patronizing the audience. The late Satoshi Kon was brilliant, and Paranoia Agent is still one of my favorite works of fiction period. Sometimes Hayao Miyazaki too, when he’s not being too preachy.
Anywho, I’m not trying to be argumentative for the sake of it; I just want it to be clear that my criticism of Brotherhood is because I feel it’s poorly made, regardless of cultural differences and the manga it’s based on (and as mentioned, I now need to find and read said manga).
did they put a black guy in gundam unicorn?
First off, you are a reasonable person. I like that.
And yeah I agree there’s plenty of anime that just isn’t very well written or has really boring dialog. Some of my favorite shows are my favorites because the dialog is interesting.
I understand. I haven’t even watched the 2009 series since I was already reading it, but I did know that it follows the manga pretty much exactly so I was just kinda seeing it from that point.

Specs, read the manga because I love you.

I would kill for another SERIOUS FMP, god I fucking love Chidori and Sosuke so god damn hard.
Finally finished Monster, GOD DAM SHIT WAS SO FUCKING EPIC omfg!!! but dam im like 3 weeks behind on anime now…
I liked the FMA Brotherhood anime, but yeah, there were a few glaring pacing issues here or there, especially during the start. I didn’t mind the 2003 series, either, despite getting really weird at the end.
Speaking of FMA, is anyone following the mangaka’s recent series, Silver Spoon? Totally not in the same vein as her other series, but it’s kinda like Moyashimon with the whole agricultural education thing (and minus the bacteria).
Will read.
Also considering how BB is finished, they have yet to work on a 2nd season, even when they hinted about a year back. That makes me sad.
Told your ass.
yeah they changed the story a bit too so I don’t know how well it would work out to mesh it back together. At this point I’d say just read it.
Finished Zeta Gundam.
Segment tiers and opinions
[details=Spoiler]1 through around 20 (whenever Kamille went back to Earth around this time) - Great
21 through 32 - Boring
33 to the end - Amazing
As great as the plot and battles were, **fuck **half the cast of boneheaded retards. I’m really glad Dozle Zabi decided to have a child in 0079 UC, or else the second half of this show would have been a bunch of retarded Titans inevitably losing to the AEUG. Fuck all the Titans except Yazan. Fuck Reccoa, just because no one on the Argama wanted to fuck you doesn’t mean you should jump ship to a guy who clearly wasn’t evil. Fuck you Katz, you’re more retarded than a vegetative Kamille.
Even with that, the show was great. 8.5/10 for me. Just a little better than 0079.[/details]
Probably going to go through CCA -> F91 -> Crossbone this week (and Unicorn thrown in somewhere). And then catch up on some stuff, namely Usagi Drop and Penguindrum. Probably Homoe 2 too, but it’s getting kind of stale.
where would you rank it out of all the anime youve seen?
tied for 1 with LOGH.
