What a MARVEL! The blue and red lizard with a striking resemblance to comic book superhero Spiderman
One has to wonder whether this lizard’s spider-senses are tingling. For the reptile bears more than a passing resemblance to the Marvel comic superhero Spiderman.
The lizard’s amazing red and blue markings are strikingly similar to the suit worn by the crime-fighting, web-weaving daredevil.
And - as the reptile was captured crawling around on his rock - he appeared to strike an identical pose to Spidey’s favoured crouching pose.

Strike a pose: The brightly-coloured Mwanza Flat Headed Agama lizard even mimics Spidey’s famous crouch
The lizard is a Mwanza Flat Headed Agama, which are native to Africa and usually live in groups with one dominant male - usually the most colourful.
Rich Nunn from Nostalgia and Comics in Birmingham said the resemblance was uncanny.

We won? Zebrafish larvae startled after hearing their extreme close-up image has taken first prize in science photo contest
These strange-looking creatures may look like ear-less teddy bears with tails - but this image won first prize in a science photo competition.
They are, in fact, two-day-old zebrafish larvae, as seen through a scanning electron microscope.
The photo - known as a micrograph - was taken by Jurgen Berger and Mahendra Sonawane, both employees at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, which organises the Images of Research Focus Photo contest.

A little too close for comfort? The weird and wonderful world of insects pictured in a series of stunning super-magnified snaps
These creatures certainly won’t win any beauty competitions… and anyone with a phobia of insects might be best advised to look away now.
Amateur macro photographer Nicolas Reusens has travelled the globe in order to take stunning close-up pictures of some of the insect world’s most weird and wonderful creepy-crawlies.
The 36-year-old spent three years amassing a huge series of hundreds of images of the amazing tiny ecosystem.

Bug’s life: The series of pictures shines a spotlight on the weird and wonderful creatures which have adapted to exist in the tiny world
Even in the wild they like to pack in together! Amazing photos show divers interacting with shoal of sardines
A huge shoal of sardines surrounded unsuspecting diver in seas off the Philippines allowing them to capture amazing picture of a breathtaking natural phenomenon.
The shoal was captured on camera by Nadya Kulagina on the last dive of her trip off the coast of the small Pescador Island which is close to Cebu in centre of the South East Asian country.
The magnificent spectacle, known as a sardine run, sees the silver fish swimming in tight formation to create a shimmering wall of fish during their annual migration to warmer waters.
