Oh, goddamit…Whiskers, I am disappoint.

That’s right…sweep the leg, Monty…

There was a bird in my dryer vent, so I put a cover over it after I got it out. Apparently it had eggs or some baby birds in there though. I took the cover off after a day or so, but I think some of the birds are dead in there. When I was moving my trash and recycling bins, there were two birds walking around on the ground by the vent. They are normal sized, but they are unable to fly. One of them jumps and flaps its wings and the other one just falls on its face when it tries to fly. Is there anything I can do to help them?

Wait…your dryer’s outside?

That’s what those ports on the sides of houses are.

This bug looks like it’s made a killing carrying a remarkable number of dead bodies on its back to stop it becoming lunch.
As this gruesome picture shows this insect has at least 20 ants on its back which according to scientists confuse potential predators like jumping spiders.
The aptly named assassin bug uses the dead bodies, as a defence mechanism to fend off enemies.

to be honest I think the assassin bug looks badass. would you fuck with someone carrying 20 dead bodies on their back?

take them to a vet or animal shelter.

If their wing is broken they are done for, that’s the fate of birds. Those bones won’t mend properly.

Damn…I’ve never seen those on houses before. I live in Florida though, so I also have never seen a basement or a storm cellar.

Their wings don’t seem to be broken. One of them was able to flap them quickly. I think they just haven’t learned to fly. Don’t birds have to learn to fly from their parents?

Sent from my Mind using Technopathy

nah, its instinctive. as long as they dont starve to death they’ll figure out how to fly eventually.

Yeah most birds learn to fly by just jumping and going for it, they either crash or don’t.

It’s also worth nothing that if some critical feathers are damaged, they can’t fly. That’s what they do to them at the zoo in some cases, clip the key feathers.

**Ants versus zombies: Insects beat off fungus that controls their brains - by fighting back with another ‘hyperparasite’ **

The zombie-ant fungus invades an ant’s brain and causes it to march to its death at a mass grave where the fungus spores erupt out of its head - but ants have developed a way to fight back. The ants ‘use’ another fungus which ‘eats’ the fungus that turns ants into zombies - saving the colony from extinction.
