Time to revive a dead thread!! I thought I should share what I think is an **amazing **gem set for my team of Sagat/Bob.
SAGAT
#264 Connect with 2 launchers = Cross Gauge gradual restoration +400 for 10 seconds (SF Pack 20)
#278 Connect with 2 Launchers= Cross Gauge instant restoration +400 (SF Pack 14)
#283 Connect with a combo over 10 hits = Cross Gauge instant restoration +300 (SF Pack 13)
BOB
#19 Your partner connects with 2 launchers = Damage output +10% for 20 seconds (FREE)
#20 Your partner connects with 2 launchers = Damage output +20% for 15 seconds (TK Pack 10)
#283 Connect with a combo over 10 hits = Cross Gauge instant restoration +300 (TK Pack 16)
So my matches always start with Sagat zoning, basically just trying to build meter and then tag into Bob. If Sagat gets a hit, his combos aren’t the greatest, so I normally just go into launcher an bring Bob in. So with this gem set, the following scenario can occur at the beginning of a match…
Sagat lands OS s.LK into boost combo, into launcher
Bob comes in, and his 10% dmg buff gem activates becaues of Sagat’s launcher
Bob does spiral rocky combo, which reaches the ten hit mark
This immediately gives Bob a bar of meter, allowing him to tag cancel into Sagat
Sagat comes in, and juggles the opponent with raw launcher… this activates ALL the remaining gems on the team!
Bob runs onscreen with both of his damage gems activated for a 30% damage buff, and now has 3 bars of meter
The opponent is now on the ground, has lost ~400 health, has not even built a single bar of meter yet…
So if Bob lands a single mixup/jump-in/overhead/wahtever at this point, he can combo into cross art team super for 600-700 damage
…and kill basically everyone in the game.
If it sounds ridiculous, I think it is… granted, this is a one-shot gem set, but this is scary as hell too. Also, I originally designed it for this 2-touch of death theory, but I’m also finding that it’s giving me all kinds of meter all over the place anyway. I may not need/get to use all the meter in the first round, so then I start with 3 bars in the second. I can spend meter like crazy, and it honestly seems like it just keeps coming back.
DP tag into Bob? boom - I get the meter back because Bob does spiral rocky combo for 10 hits.
Do I wanna tag cancel a rocky into Sagat? No prob, because the moment Sagat touches them I get that bar of meter back too.
I launched into Bob but already have a lot of meter? I’ll combo into cross art or super… no fucks are given because I still have at least bar and a half when it’s done!
There are moments when I’m actively trying to spend all damn meter because I have too much!
My friends are telling me that it’s total bullshit after fighting against it, and I’m almost inclined to agree? Here they are, running default gem sets, and I come busting through the gate with this shit? It’s almost not fair… Especially considering that most of these gems cost money.
I have to wonder though, how can I make this better? Swap out the damage gems for more meter building maybe? I’m not sure. I also think this type of gem set sn’t exclusive to Sagat/Bob, and can be ported over to other teams as well… If you’ve got a point character that likes going into launchers, and and anchor that can rack up the 10 hits off the launcher, you’re good to go. You just have to be willing to drop the 5 bucks or so to exploit it!
It’s not the gem sets I mentioned above, but they make for hella cool combos. Watch the meter!
Maybe I will fool around trying to find a balance between them?
