American Football 2019 Thread:

Tom Brady is trash and I am glad 2 QBs are taking that trash to the curb.

I sware his NLF records should have an asterisk with the note that all his records are archived though cheating and foul play. And Brady shows poor sportsmanship after every defeat.

No one should be shocked that Seattle won. Kirk never wins on MNF. That isnā€™t hyperbole heā€™s 0-8

When you put up 30 points in Seattle and still lose, thatā€™s not all on Kirk.

Not saying its all on him but he always loses on MNF. 0-8 isnā€™t a fluke. He is the common denominator. It shows that he canā€™t carry the load. Heā€™s a 28 million dollar complimentary piece. The Vikings put up 30 and Russell Wilson still managed to get a W.

8-4 isnā€™t a fluke, either.

Whatā€™s his record in prime time? Against opponents above .500?

You arenā€™t wrong, and he always wilts.

That being said, he isnā€™t responsible for their loss on MNF. He posted nearly identical stats to Russell Wilson, he actually had more yards. But the Seahawks committed to their run game, almost putting up 200 yards whereas Dalvin Cook gave the Vikings nothing and the Vikings Defense laid an egg.

Kirk Cousins usually sucks against good teams on Primetime, but he also wasnā€™t responsible for this specific loss. Both statements can be, and are true.

Cook got injured in the first half and was taken out of the game.

Primetime this season is 2-1. He beat the Redskins and Dallas. Dallas was above .500, so heā€™s 1-1 this season on winning teams, which is an improvement. There are still a few additional primetime games coming up, including a MNF against the Chargers. Maybe heā€™ll snap the streak then.

As I said earlier, this game wasnā€™t his fault but he still always loses. Sometimes you need your QB to overcome circumstance and find a way to win. Cousins isnā€™t the guy that will overcome to win. Once Dalvin Cook got hurt I knew the Vikings were cooked. When the Legion of Boom was gutted, Beastmode was gone, and his O-line was shit, Russell Wilson was carrying the Seahawks to victory.

How the fuck is all THIS you saying itā€™s not his fault:

-ā€œNo one should be shocked that Seattle won. Kirk never wins on MNF. That isnā€™t hyperbole heā€™s 0-8ā€
-ā€œhe always loses on MNFā€
-ā€œ0-8 isnā€™t a flukeā€
-ā€œHe is the common denominatorā€
-ā€œhe canā€™t carry the loadā€
-ā€œHeā€™s a 28 million dollar complimentary pieceā€
-ā€œWhatā€™s his record in prime time? Against opponents above .500?ā€
-ā€œhe still always losesā€
-ā€œCousins isnā€™t the guy that will overcome to winā€

Because it sounds to me like you just like to fucking rip on the guy because the shitty-ass Deadskins dropped him, and you need to be validated that was a good choice for some reason.

If you actually watched the game last night, Cousins wasnā€™t the reason the Vikings lost. The Vikings secondary is shit, and they couldnā€™t stop the run. If youā€™ve watched ANY Vikings games this season youā€™d know Cousins has been playing lights out, and has carried the entire team on his back at times. Look at the Denver game- a 20 point deficit was erased entirely because the Vikings OC let Cousins finally do his thing and start ripping it downfield. Which, by the way, is a huge point of contention between the two of them- Stefanski doesnā€™t let Cousins play to his potential. Heā€™s been vocal about that.

Yeah, Cousins hasnā€™t historically played well in Primetime. But this season heā€™s actually made progress with a much better team. If you want to continually be antagonistic about it because your team is shit and youā€™re mad I jumped ship or whatever, thatā€™s on you.

I see Kirk Cousins talkā€¦

Anyway, Iā€™m posting this up.

I know you have better reading comprehension than this man. There is difference between being the reason your team loses (i.e. chucking 3 INTs) and the reason they win (leading a game winning drive when you team is down by 4 points). His track record shows that he isnā€™t the player that can carry his team to victory. Which is what a complimentary piece is. That isnā€™t an opinion that is a verifiable fact. It is what his record shows. You can get butthurt about that but it doesnā€™t change the facts.

Again:

But itā€™s not Cousinsā€™ fault he lost.

When you have 30+ points on the scoreboard, that wasnā€™t a game the offense lost, its a game the defense fumbled.

So why are you putting more blame on the Cousins than the Vikingsā€™ defense? They allowed all those scores from the Seahawks.

At this point, I am going to assume you are being purposely obtuse. The only thing you quoted that was opinion is the ā€œcomplimentary pieceā€ remark.

He is 0-8.
He has never lead his team to victory on MNF.
0-8 is not a fluke.
He has lead two teams to zero MNF victories. Common denominator.
As a Vikings QB he is 2-12 against winning teams. That isnā€™t carrying the load
His win percentage against .500 teams is 15%
He does always lose on MNF
If are 0-8 you donā€™t overcome to lead your team to a victory.

Tell me what I said that isnā€™t true.

He doesnā€™t want to acknowledge that Cousins had two touchdown drives late in the 4th quarter when down 17 points, with two key offensive pieces out of the game.

It doesnā€™t matter that Diggs caught only four of his nine passes, one of which he bobbled for an INT.

It doesnā€™t matter that the defense gave up 218 yards on the ground and the front seven were completely dominated.

It doesnā€™t matter that Rhodes fucked up royally by getting completely blown out, not to mention the initial 15 yard personal foul that granted the Seahawks position for their first score.

It doesnā€™t matter that special teams missed an extra point, allowed a fake punt, and fumbled the ball at the end of the game.

No, you started this whole conversation out by shitting on Cousins. How the fuck am I supposed to infer what you mean when, after the good football he played last night, the only conclusion you can draw thatā€™s worth commenting on is how much he sucks?

Point out lie I told so I can see exactly where I shit on him.

Iā€™m not calling you a liar, dude. I take issue with the fact that you call out Cousins. He did not lose the game last night, the Vikings lost the game. Yet, you canā€™t help yourself but to call out Cousins, regardless of the fact that he lead two awesome drives in the 4th quarter to put his team in a position to win, DESPITE all the woes on defense and special teams. After all that, all you can do is smugly comment on Cousins always losing on MNF.

Look, Iā€™m not trying to make excuses for the guy. It fucking sucks for me that he hasnā€™t won a game on MNF. I obviously acknowledge that- Iā€™ve been a fan of his through two teams. But he has been making progress as a player, and last night he played a very good game. It really fucking sucks that they didnā€™t win, because it continues this narrative that he CANā€™T win. And thatā€™s not entirely fair, as last nightā€™s game demonstrates. It wasnā€™t his fault.

So when the first thing you say about the game is the fact that Cousins canā€™t win- that implies that itā€™s his fault. Thatā€™s what I mean by shitting on him.

You are way too defensive about Cousins. If I attacked him a person, Iā€™d understand. It is extremely rare for any player to ā€œtake that next stepā€ this deep into their career. He is who he is as a player at this point. Itā€™s highly unlikely he will become clutch. Not trying to ā€œshit on himā€ just being honest.

Yeah, maybe I am. And I agree it is rare for players to take the next step. But Iā€™ve been following Cousins closely, and Iā€™ve seen progress. And rooting for him to take that next step is part of being a fan. Iā€™ve seen flashes of brilliance. He has made huge comebacks before, just not consistently.

But there is also this narrative that he canā€™t win big games, and thatā€™s not entirely true, or fair. Heā€™ll have another opportunity in a few weeks against Green Bay on MNF (I was wrong about it being the Chargers). Iā€™m hoping he can finally do it, but the Vikings D needs to step the fuck up too for that to happen. He isnā€™t Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, and he wonā€™t ever be that caliber. But I believe in him and really want him to win.

Oh, and by the way, can you tell your team to show up again this Sunday and play the Packers like they played the Panthers? That would be so fucking dope if they put the beatdown on Rodgers. Thanks.
