actually, we have not decided yet if the trades will go on to 3 or restart. I have a tendency to keep it going with 3… It will be titled “The World Warriors” anyway. THAT, we have decided.
I think it should stay vol.3, but thats just me.
Or you make another online poll like you did when you moved to devils due…
Man he’s gotten alot better. From his Akuma sketch I have to this one. Wow what a difference.
Hey that’s tough. Maybe some day. At least you can have the FF characters show up and fight SFers and stuff at some point, that would be neat.
Bringing Street Fighter with a new number 1 issue is a great idea. Hopefully, all the people who missed out on the first few issues will be on board for the new series. Thanks Udon.
What i dont get is why call it “Street Fighter 2” when the “Street Fighter” comic didnt focus on “Street Fighter” characters at all, and we didnt have a “Street Fighter Alpha” comic.
Oh yeah - they figured it out that another “first issue” means more sales. Silly me - what other reason would there be?
more sales mean we can last longer…yeah… you figure that out right. You are a very smart man.
I think the Street Fighter 2 idea is a good one. It’s a good way to catch up with the artwork and handle the story arch.
GOD, It’s not like Udon released Street Fighter, SF aplha 1, SF aplha 2, SF aplha 3, SF aplha 3 Upper or anything. Or would you prefer it that way? Why be so anal about the first english series of street fighter comics to come out where the authors acutally are fans and care about the fans of the game. I think we are very lucky to have a team so dedicated to the franchise. I think if putting a “2” at the end of the title ends up pulling in more punters and helps keeping the series going then thats a good thing.
Get out your marker pen and re-number your comics when the new series is released if it bothers you so much.
…
I just hope the Alpha characters aren’t going away.
All of my favorite characters come from the Alpha games…
Sakura (I don’t wanna see her go! Why Udon why?)
Dan (Only appeared briefly so far…)
Guy (Why no respect for the Bushin Ninja?)
Maki (More bushin love)
Charlie (Was never truly himself in the comic )
Karin (no single appearance. Is this because she belongs to Masahiko Nakahira?)
The dolls (at least, I’m happy with how these girls were handled. Thanks Udon)
I’m a bit sad to see the series turn into "Steet Fighter II"
The title Street Fighter means the comic series covers the entire Street Fighter universe which is a good thing IMHO. Street Fighter II makes it seem like it will only focus on the SFII games, which were kinda lacking story wise and character wise to begin with…
Too bad about the Final Fight problems. But it could have been nice to see something about Rolento, at least… Him, and his army, could be a potential threat for any street fighter story.
But if it means more sales, what can I say. I sure don’t want UDON go the way of Dreamwave, that’s for sure. I love the SF comic to bits. I just hope it’ll stay interesting.
Just a little question… What about Maki and Eagle? Both were featured on that kick ass cover art you guys did a while ago… Could those two appear in the comic? I guess if Retsu and Geki could appear as cameos, so could Eagle… but is Maki valid? She did appear in the GBA port of SFA3, and will appear again in the PSP version as well…
Karin’s in a back up fighting Sakura and she’s been featured in covers.
All I can say is, we would need more sales so that we can run SF, DS & RS parallel. Or else, the license will in the long run costing us too much to justify going on. Coz right now, we are paying for all 3 licenses, publishing it or not. And believe me, I am trying everyday to get things going so that you guys can have all 3 titles eventually, and hopefully more!
In the case of DW, all I can say is this bankruptcy thing is not what you think. DW did not go bankrupt becoz of poor sales and a bad market. If you compare our numbers - approx 25 to 30 thousand sales in SF, 15-20K in DS, to DW’s TF sales before their so called “demise” - approx 50K sales on their main book and 20 to 25K on multiple spin offs, you know that we are doing our jobs in a totally different way.
Bottomline - If a guy can go bankrupt and still drive a Porsche everyday and move into a new condo immediately after folding his company, I guess I wouldn’t mind going bankrupt!

Curious.
When the news was announced that DW was to close shop, there were reports that artists at DW were not being paid. If sales were good why would that be the case? And judging by your last comment, is there something unscrupulous about DW’s decision to shut down?
Ah, backup stories…
I wish I could see these. But I only read the TPBs…
Any chance of seeing these backup stories collected into a TPB someday?
An interview with some of the former writers at DW can be found here:
