why does Guy have no OTG with his move (=which go over you and grab you to put you on the floor).
It’s a grab so i could normally OTG whit this so why not ?

I think it’s because guy’ s grab doesn’t hit crouching opponents I’m not sure though.

I was messing around woth cody again and akuma did an air fireball and froze me. Glitch !!. I figure I have to either eat it or try to vc through.

bushin: that glitch does not favor akuma at all. it puts cody at an advantage if you can recognize the situation fast enough. if akuma does air fireball at any range to where it makes you dodge, you can vc out of it and hit akuma with a medium ruffian into whatever vc you like.

theres a couple other dodge glitches. you freeze after dodging giefs banishing fist. you can punish it, but its really hard to do, cuz an spd will come right after it. makes it really hard to counter. makes his gc vc’s better too.

theres others but those are the 2 you will see the most

as for the otg discussion. akuma cant grab a crouching opponent either yet his still does. i dont thing guys bushin grab command can come out when you are that close to the ground… thats what the situation always seemed to me.

I don’t have the time right now to wade through all the pages to get an answer, so can someone tell me, what is a “crouch cancel”?

Anyway, how do you set up for v-ryu’s crouch cancel? Can you do it from the hado-rave or do you need some other custom to land it?

Furthermore, didn’t player 2 have a different crouch cancel move that ryu could use?

Upon landing from a jump, inmediately Crouch to avoid a “neutral state” (thus not allowing the enemy to flip), then cancel the “going into crouch animation” with a jump (befor it reachs the neutral crouching state) and repeat… BTW i think that there’s a tutorial or something at the Articles Section of this site (Shoryuken.com DUH!)

when i do the traditional cody custom, when do i have to do the standing rh for the crouching fierce? late or early? does it work in the ps version?

A3 Match Vids

I just got into A3 yesterday…Where are some good match vids?

As well as Gouki’s Vism ish.

I’d just like to clarify a couple of quick things:

For Sagat’s VC… is it VC2, fierce Tiger Uppercut, [s.hp, roundhouse Tiger Knee] xN to the corner, then [s.hp, roundhouse tiger shot]xN, finish with c.mp, fierce Tiger Uppercut?

And does this only work if the opponent is jumping in? Does he have a guard crush VC? If the VC only works if they’re jumping in, what is the ground VC?

You can use any version of the Tiger Uppercut, and you’d probably want to use the Jab version because of Damage Scaling. Works as anti-air or if they’re standing. You can also activate V-ISM and just use the Knee, ie after blowing through a fireball. No real guardcrush VC except for Roundhouse Tiger Shots in the corner. You can do Tiger Knee over and over in VC1, but that has small holes in it.

I used to use V-Sagat aaages ago, yeah a VC can be started with a blow through tiger knee, and then into standing FP, FK/RK Tiger Knee depending where they are falling, however b+FP into SK tiger knee is possible as well, although i remember having to do an occasional FP otherwise they may fall behind you. sigh I was so much better on PSX pad, now my VC’s are crap cause I started on sticks just recently.

i was looking at all about zero 3 and i think it said that guy’s crouching mk can be linked into another crouching mk. i think that was it says, but then i don’t read japanese. i was trying this forever, but it doesn’t combo. can someone translate that mess?

i think ube that its start from rave by canceling hop kick into a mk hurricane kick, then doing the j.mp if i rember right.

I thought jump strong didn’t work for player 2? I thought I heard somewhere along the line though, that he could do something else on that side to crouch cancel.

J.SP, jumping FK, jumping backward SP, neutral jumping SK, [jumping forward SP, crossup jumping FK] or some crazy crap like that. I dunno, I never did learn that combo.

As far as I know, the Ryu MP CC only works for player 1, but there is a different CC that player 2 can use which I can’t remember.

Along with the hopkick to air hurricane cancel to CC setup, I remember reading somewhere that Daigo had a CC setup after a dizzy where he would activate VC then do a short hurricane which was timed so that only the shadow hit as his opponent was getting up and then go into the CC MPs from there.

In terms of V-ism… is it similar to A-Groove where you cancel a move into another move as soon as it makes contact with the opponent? Or is it like Yang’s SAIII where the character is speeded up with a shadow hitting?

Both, moves can be cancelled into themselves and other moves, and there is a shadow which imitates you at a different rate depending on which button’s you use to activate.

Ah, gotcha. I was having a hella hard time doing Sagat’s VC since well… I’ve never really played A3 before :frowning:

Any suggestion though on any particular character who’s good for beginning to learn how to properly use V-ism? Right now I’m using Sagat and Sakura… with a little Adon and R. Mika when I feel silly.
