Someone mentioned the A3 beta a few pages back. Didn’t the beta A3 have some weird stuff, apart from Karin’s 99% throw? I’ve never played it. Didn’t Karin also have a CvS2-style “low jump” in Xism much like how Rolento’s jump changes in Xism?
Sorry if this has been asked before. (Dont wanna check all the 60+ pages.) But how the hell do you OTG with V Akuma? Again Sorry if this has been asked before.
OTG - Off The Ground, Grabbing an opponent when he/she is completely flat on the ground (no falling or getting up animation)
Koo. Thanx Alot im gonna try that sound tip right now!
L32 Z-ism Rose:
call me crazy, but i think Capcom put those things in to make things more difficult. eg c.SK c.SK xx shinkuu with Ryu becomes a little harder to pull out at L3, because with the negative edge you risk pulling out his metsu shoryu.
second reason i can think of is that they have small advantages over the other supers; eg Ken’s shippujinrai is his longest ranged super, so if it did any more damage it could be abusable. Gouki’s can be used as anti-air. i wouldn’t know what to say about Ryu’s though.
last reason i can think of is:
style points.
Guy’s L3… i’ve met someone who can normal xx run > stop > L3 pretty consistently. i guess you’d have to get your opponent to turtle for it to work. wasn’t there a glitch on a V-Jimmy vid to combo into the L3?

A3 at Wolfroad? Really? I will try to make it, but I still suck. How do you beat Sakura and Akuma? Best characters against them?
Who and how can someone counter Blanka roll after blocking it?
If I am not wrong, I think the combo was jab, strong, fierce, Lv3 on a crouching Sodom. That must have taken some dextrerity!
Another Guy question: how are his run/overhead/slide best used? I have never been able to use them to terribly properly.
I play Rose most of the time, either that or combo characters to mess around with or Random Select. So I dunno. Your best luck vs Akuma would probaly be a one hit kill character (jump JP vs diveick, cc -> death/dizzy), but good Akuma causes everyone trouble. Of course there are characters that do well…like basically everyone in the top tier, and AFAIK V-Cody and V-Rolento. I don’t really have any advice other than counter-charactering. V-Sak likes to poke a lot, which is an invitation to bap her if you’ve got a good midscreen.
As for Blanka, it depends on the character…Sodom can do FP Jigoku Scrape, I think 3 or so have normals that they can use, etc. It’s best just to counter it if your character is so able. And if you can’t, it causes a lot of trouble.
CRoW- Alpha Counter is towards+2 buttons of equal strength while blocking. And some combos can be flipped out of and some can’t…after you’ve already started juggling them with any legit combo they can pretty much only flip when you let them, so it’s usually a timing issue. If by uppercut you mean crouching Fierce, then no, that won’t work.
capconian- uh, in console tournies, I guess. And SFZ3 Upper tournaments, if those exist.
…
thnkx tas, so say fei-longs flaming dp kick, in v-ism could i keep juggling the opp. over and over again? or can they recover? what exactly is the timing on not letting them get out?
go read james chen’s faq on gamefaqs.com about flipout rules. flip out rules have already been told to death so i will just give an extremely basic explanation of the rule. the opponent cant flip out until the other player reaches a neutral state(i.e. standing). for instance, im ryu, i dp you out of the air, you can flip as soon as i recover. very basic rule for flipouts. it gets much deeper when you get to more complex things. but thats basically the rule
…
sorry bout dat, ill go check it out at gfaqs. thanks
To all keyboard mania, I got to say: “Give me a keyboard for the tournament!”
God… I just realized today that I suck using a joystick. Somehow I couldn’t even pull an uppercut, and pressing 3 punches and 3 kicks was also quite a challenge. Is there any cool trick to press 3 punches? I know about the double tab for one button, but how about 3 punches or 3 kicks?
What I meant was that blue blocking does not prevent guard crush. You’ll see the character block glowing blue, then go into guard crush animation. Blue blocking has no effect other than reducing the amount of guard meter damage done.
No. There’s already a VC thread that’s bumped from time to time. If you’re talking about non-VC combos, there isn’t a thread on that, but I don’t think there’d be much of a demand.
yes4me: which character? Some characters can do diddly to Blanka after blocking a ball, but others auto-rape him.
How about Ryu, Akuma, Charlie, Zangief, and Sakura (all V-ISM). Can they rape Blanka after blocking his roll?
RE: DARK RED FLASH
I still would love to know what causes this… No one seems to know. Just when two attacks collide and something about numbers and rank. If that was the case shouldn’t we see red flashes all over the place? There’s probably something I’m missing. I’ve never been able to re-create it, and never really understood why my tiger knee absorbed a sonic boom because of red flash… or why my totally-wrong-choice-of-normal beat a jump attack it shouldn’t have and won me the round.
Is it just me, or do you see the “i’m gonna beat your move” red flash ONLY on the last hit of a round?
Maybe that’s the only time I ever noticed it… but I don’t remember seeing it much in the middle of a match. Usually when I see it, somebody’s not getting up.
Mondu:Blue block doesn’t reduce chip damage? What’s the best way to blu block a chip VC? I usually just wiggle down to back and mash buttons…
Hrm… I wonder. Can you blue pushblock with Dan/Juni?
…
yes4me- no real trick for using 3P or 3K that I know of, but it helps that throws and air recovery and rolling are only 2P/2K. Though if you want to play Gen or Zangief or teleport characters, it’s still going to cause you some trouble… Just one of those things that you have to adjust to.
As for reversing Blanka’s roll, I dunno. All of those characters can either poke him out of it and Gief can Lariat. I think Gief can far crouching Roundhouse him afterwards, or standing Fierce, maybe.
marvelscrub- there does seem to be an element of randomness to it, which is why it does’t happen all the time. It seems to happen like 100x more often in the Dreamcast version though, compared to the Saturn or the arcade versions I’ve played. Red flash can happen in the middle of a match also, not just at the end…
i belvie that is the reduced damge from an attack, kindah like mashing some vc combos doen to u reducing your damge, when your face icon flashes red.
or maybe not =)
I remember seeing in some japanese vid an A-ism Ryu antiair’d someone with the lvl3 shin-shoryuken as they were jumping into outside sweep range, can’t remember if the proper shin-shoryuken came out or not.
i know what your talking about valle and some peoples watching a reportage from japan and gop nuts when a guy dies to a shinsho on jump in. regarldess of right or wrong one there isnothing practicle about doin no damage with 3 bars.
