Alpha 3: Q & A

MJ- I meant the crouching Forward-animated sweep that comes out if you do the demon flip but don’t hit any buttons afterward.

And i think there was actually an order of difficulty, maybe in the old A3 thread, or maybe it was just the list for GlitchDriver. Anyway, I don’t know where one is now…Yeah, Sak is harder to OTG with Akuma because her falling animation is different, Gen also. Don’t know about anyone else though, but last time I played I could get it on R.Mika.

Are there any good V-ism for Ken?

You should check the A3:VC thread, but just incase they’re not there here you go:

Anti-Air*
VC2: Jab DP -> S.Fierce * [ Fierce DP -> S.Roundhouse ] (repeat)
If you still have meter when you reach the corner then do:
**Jab DP -> [ S.Fierce * FB (whiff) ] (repeat) **
You can do some CC’d jumping fierces after this, see the Corner VC’s below. Make sure you let the S.Roundhouse hit, don’t cancel it too quickly into the next fierce DP.
*This whole VC can be done ground-based but the timing is much tighter.

Corner Confusion / Guard Break
VC3: [ Deep jump-in Fierce -> (C.Forward * FB) x 2 -> S.Jab ] (repeat)
The standing jab just cancels out the recovery period of the fireball so that you can jump in again.

Mid-screen Confusion
VC3: C.Short -> C.Roundhose * Jab FB -> Roll -> Jab DP -> S.Fierce * [ Fierce DP -> S.Roundhouse ] (repeat)
There are variants of this. The basic idea is to knockdown, throw a slow FB, then get on the other side of them so that you can hit them at the same time as the FB’s shadow. You can sweep, Jab FB, then use towards + roundhouse. You can also roll, do a bunch of C.Shorts, then HK back over. If you can knock them up with the DP just transition into his normal AA VC.

Corner VC’s
VC2: Jab DP -> [ S.Fierce * FB (whiff) ] (repeat)
To add crouch cancels, just before you run out of meter and after a whiffed FB pause for a millisecond, then do a C.Strong and jump straight up and go into CC’d fierces. You can only get a couple before they’re too low, in which case you can hit them with a C.Fierce 2-in-1 Jab DP.

VC2: [ Roundhouse Hurricane Kick ] (repeat)
Not that damaging, 50+ hits, gives them back a good deal of meter. You can insert C.Forwards between the HK’s, just make sure you don’t end up doing a Forward HK cause you’ll break it.

VC1: Repeated FB’s
Good damage. You can throw in C.Forwards, but after 2 of them you’re too far away. However, there is a trick where you can advance Ken by cancelling the first frames his towards + roundhouse into the fireballs. Do a fireball by pressing Roundhouse a millisecond before Fierce, basically pressing them at the same time. You’ll see Ken slide forward as he’s throwing them out. End this whole VC with a towards + roundhouse for the knockdown.

You on about the infinite unflippable set-up? It’s VC3 corner S.fierce, whiff jab tornado, S.roundhouse, whiff C.fierce, (shadow torando connects at end of c.fierce) j.short, cc. j.short.

You can also do, VC2 corner - Fierce Tornado, C.roundhouse X 8, whiff, C.jab, J.forward, cc, j.short, cc, j.short – semi-escapable though, timing on c.roundhouse is kinda hard to learn and good luck finding set-ups for this.

Nope Charlie doesn’t have an infinite but he has a walk cancel, crouch cancel set-up that allows for 5 j.fierces + flashkick for 50% meter back.

c.lk, lk sommersault, stand hk, bazooka knee, lk sommersault, lk sommersault(shadow must NOT hit), late stand hk, crouch hp, whiff lk sommersault, late stand lp, jump lk, crouch cancel walk forward into cc jumps.

You you can cancel short flashkicks into either b+fierce or S.roundhouse, fierce flashkicks in VCs only come after the crouch cancels.

TS what is that Rose combo you mentioned ?

Any tips for a Cammy newb user. And is she good enough to hang using A-ism. Some combos would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

…,

any tips for v-ism fei long in terms of combos?

It’s just cc neutral-jump SP in the corner over and over. The way I set it up is flipable… VC1, c.FK SK soul Spiral xx c.SP (or c.JP), j.FP, cc jump FP or SP over and over, CC jump SP at the end so the last shadow bounces them higher, then go into the cc jump strongs. It’s flipable after the crouching Strong (though you have to PP flip backwards, so I’ve still landed it on actual people), but i’m just trying to get the combo down now anyway, since I can’t do it consistently yet.

I used to think Rose’s j.SP would stop hitting on it’s own at a certain point, but that’s not the case. The hitbox for it is just weird. It looks like a move that just comes out like somebody’s j.SK or something, but you actually have to wait for it to animate to a certain point and time it accordingly.

You can get like 15 or 16 cc.jump Strongs max ( I don’t know if the number changes for Charlie), and I think 14 of them gives you 50% meter back, so it’s technically an infinite since you can jump and reactivate. As far as practical setups, the only one I can think of are after her midscreen (which is slow to bring people to the corner, which is now a noticeably negative aspect vs everyone not named Dhalsim) or corner VC, and after counter hit jump JP or SP (cc jump and activate), which are actually both pretty good attacks.

What’s great is doing it on an X-ISM character and leting them flip…free reset.

Unfortunately, you can only start it after a midscreen/corner VC if you do one of the resets (like the stand SP resets in the BAS videos), and I think they have to flip for you to be able to do it, which sort or sucks, because it’s not foolproof.

i read in the thread with the japanese zero3 matches that A-honda counters V-sak. can anyone provide some analysis into this matchup/why he supposedly counters her? i have NO experience in this matchup, but here’s what i think…

from full screen, sakura can just throw fireballs to build meter and honda can’t do much. why can’t sakura just zone him out with standing rh? and if honda headbutts, sakura can just VC to blow through it right? i don’t really understand why a-honda counters v-sakura. any insight?

thanks

Me too. I wonder the same and I am starting to use Honda just to beat Sakura!

I also want to know how does that jap guy does his infinitite. I try so many times but was not able to pull it off.
The way I try it is:

[c.HK, tornado HP] until guard break
HP, tornado HP, LP, tornado HP, [j.LK]

MJ nice dude.

One small problem you’re missing the knee after the dash. You need it to avoid neutral state.

damaging walk cancels, crouch cancel finishes ^^

hmm i didnt know that it was necessary to do bazooka knee i thought people just did it for spacing. Hmm guess i havta learn it. :bluu:

Thanks.

heres some V-Charlie VC’s I copyed from jap player TOMA from the acho vids, hehe. There my variation of his VC’s but they work. I recorded these at 15mhz in Kawaks 1.47b. Enjoy.

Bazooka Knee added with some more VC’s :]

My question is, how is Guy played at high levels? My Guy right now is really noob. The only matches I’ve played against are A-Ryu, A-Karin and A-Sagat. Most of these matches usually end up in footsie battles since the Ryu and Sagat players like to jump back and start throwing fireballs so I can’t do a lot of running games. Low strong to counter their jumpins, and the final fight chain to do some guard damage. Anything else I could or should be doing?

I suck with Guy, but qcf/qcb to get past fireballs, hurricane kick vs some pokes.

Thanks TS, time to develop the best V-Rose in the world muhaha

Grrr…

Anyway, problem with the infinite is that it gives the opponent back the same amount of meter (little more actually, because they’re getting hit during the setup). So you either HAVE to do it to kill (which means burning the meter you just got and hoping the opponent has enough life for you to get some meter back before he/she dies), OR they have to be close to having a full meter, which isn’t a problem now, since people tend to sit on their bar anyway, unless they’re someone who knows they can get it back.

And Ricky Ortiz was telling me that when he was in Japan for that invitational a few years ago there was some V-Rose player who got like 50 wins on Valle and Choi and Watson…I must find this man…

when was the last time they had a3 in a tourney? and who won?

Who is ‘they’? A3 is pretty much dead in the states evo 2002 was the last time i remember a a3 tourney against Japan which we got raped badly. :lol:

but japan has A3 nationals pretty frequently from what i gather. apoc said it wasn’t in SBO because they have nationals so often. i think a female player named maki won the last one and used A-chun:eek:
