MJ: v-sodom destroys v-gief for free. b+fierce his ass all day just zone gief out with b+fierce and you’ll be ok. it works as good distant anti air. dont be afraid to do slides either. once you get used to using b+fierce more against gief, its such a simple match. gief has very little chance to beat sodom
x-cody is bomb! i dont use him much. my main is still V. but i bust him out every once in a while just to get some mega damage cc combos. i would recommend that you should never, ever do a fierce criminal uppercut. recovery is terrible. jab criminal uppercut is the best one to use always.
corner: jab criminal, catche em with a j.jab, cc j fierce(can do a second cc j.fierce if the opponent is really high every once in a while), c.strong(or sfierce/c.fierce), rh ruffian kick. if opponent didnt flip after criminal uppercut, that means they still have their 1 corner flip available so they’ll most likely flip after the ruffian, so just air throw em at the end. easy 50%+ combo that everyone gets hit with.
i wouldnt recommend x-cody unless you are extremely proficient with crouch cancels
iv never had a chance or the balls to try it on non cpu so im not sure but cammy, ken,ryu and geif i tested it on all of them and none of them were able to flip out, but it did kill the hitbox for all of them too so i couldnt regrab or even land a hit maybe its a psx version thing…
And while we’re on meaty Raging Demons, what’s to prevent a meaty full-range JP SPD? I’d imagine that to be even faster (1 frame? Whatever, definitely faster than the number of pre-jump frames of any character) than the Raging Demon. And what’s to prevent Akuma from doing this against all characters? Does anyone know ow long, exactly, is the interval between Akuma geting into range for the Raging before he grabs an opponent?
Anyway, I don’t counter-charactering X-Akuma against Gief is worth it.
I was wondering the uses of X-Codys super, I usually use it in the corner after a criminal upper. But I was playing against my friend the other day and activated it while he jumped in on me. The Super invunerablity is quite long, I hit him with two jabs when the opponent was right on top of me, and the opponent flew straight into the corner. Perhaps it might be used as a baiting tactic near the corner? I’m just not sure if you would be able to jump kick the opponent in the air in time to keep the juggle going…
Sorry… by SGS you mean the Raging Demon right? What does SGS stand for?
Also, if it isn’t possible for Zangief to jump back from the Raging Demon once you have knocked him down, this makes me think that it will work on Dhalsim too; as he has a slow jump. What do you think?
Strange thing happened today, I was fighting CPU Gouki with X-Cody, I jumped towards Gouki within sweep range, activated Super, and was hitting just with the tip of my fist, i got 17 hits, before I mistimed a punch, Cody just kept jabbing Gouki the whole time, all the hits comboed LOL weeeird
j.FP (deep), c.FK xx SK.tatsumaki (whiff), SGS. this setup ready right at the start of the round.
demon flip, late P ender, SGS. the P ender cancels the recovery a bit, but it’s still slow as hell in A3. i think it was in a CvS2 thread.
mondu:
i can’t SPD on a keyboard, so i won’t be checking on Kawaks. i’m not sure how accurate a PS test would be to the real thing, so hopefully someone else will try countering a meaty SGS (raging demon) with a reversal SPD and post what happens.
Master J:
Gief can’t jump the meaty SGS because he has a massive number of jump frames to assist his SPDs. Sim doesn’t have SPDs, so he probably just floats slowly. and SGS = shun goku satsu.
edit:
on priority, the mugen thread;
yikes. actually that’s the first time i saw that thread. i couldn’t read all of it, the flames were too bright for my wee eyes. but some solid arguments, a lot of which i’d thought about earlier. i just wish i could tell who was spitting bs and who wasn’t.
It works. Way back in the early days of Z3 when people were still willing to experiment, I got a number of meaty Raging Demons pulled off against me (I played Z-Gief then, and didn’t play V-ism yet). Haven’t seen anyone try to do it lately, though, simply because there are far less Z-Akuma around. I also haven’t tried it against X-Akuma, whom no one was insane enough to use even then.
i just wanna know for all those people out there who play with v-cody…
1.do you crouch cansle in a match to win or to show off
2.where did you learn how to do it
3.who invented it
4.whos bright idea was it to put it out there
i do it to win, but its flashy too to a lot of people. since not many people can “truly” do cc combos effectively.
i got data from japanese players like bas. well shit, they invented it. but i figured out the bulk on my own. i got the info on how it works. but thats only a portion of getting it to work. 75% is learning to actually get it to work efficiently. i dont know many people that can cc properly.
the japanese, duh
see number 3 duh
and why does this pertain to v-cody, i successfully cc with every character in all my matches. you must have some serious v-cody hate, he must own you all day or something from all your v-cody cc bickering
everyone uses cody? wtf? are you high? only other cody player, besides myself, that i know of that i know for a fact that is good with him, is Nibor. not counting japanese players.
i don’t know where you get the idea that cody gets used a lot. he might casually get used, but thats about it. no one truly “seriously” uses cody and is successful with him except for like myself and nibor.
shouldnt you be hating on all the shoto, sim, sakura, gief players instead? there’s like 98743598374985 more of those players than cody players lol
Ok I’m having real problems using X-rolento against V-ism…
Can anyone give me some helpful advice or tricks to make them waste the VC bar or ways to react to them turning on the VC to avoid things like Hadou rave etc.
General characters I also find difficult to beat are
AKUMA,GUY,CHARLIE,V-ZANGIEF any strategy or advice would be much appreciated…
No X against v-ism if X-rolento gets trapped in the corner he’s fucked. X-Rolento doesn’t have any special move that get’s him out of the corner. also no alpha counter no roll x-ism is fucked. I use to play rolento in X too and I got good results. But after a while he became to predictable.
Try v-rolento he has a kick-ass alpha-counter and an easy unblockable vc. Also command normals do alot for him
a-guy
If guy traps x-rolento in the corner he can do almost nothing. Thats why Alex valle switched to v-rolento vs daigo’s a-guy in 98
v-charlie
AFAIK charlie can’t counter
s.jab s.jab c.forward xx qcf+punch qcf+punch if blocked
also down+ mk is very effective vs charlie
v-gief
gief is gay don’t play him
akuma
shoto dp x-rolento all day.
If you wanna play x-rolento you would have to prevent a lot. He’s nice for a while but later on your opponent will figure him out .a/v rolento is more complex
Did someone mention that condition when both characters hit each others vunerable boxes at the same time, and then one will win the exchange by pressing a button or moving the joystick or something? I dont remember if it was in Chens systems faq
When Zangief jumps at you and does the Body Splash, then a crouching JP/LK into the SPD… is there anything that you can do to avoid the SPD? Like, can you just jump straight up after you have blocked the crouching JP/LK to avoid the SPD?
