You can run through proxies, perhaps. Those ipconfig commands won’t work, they would just be messing with your local machine. The servers are tracking your external IP address, not internal… so your cable modem. Your external IP is assigned with DHCP also, although the DCHP reservation has a TTL of a few minutes, typically - so you would have to disconnect it and still have to wait a few minutes before your modem gets a new IP from your ISP. Those ipconfig commands won’t really do much for it and you can do them if you want, it won’t break shit, if you are wondering… release will release your DHCP reservation with your DHCP server, flushdns just flushes the DNS cache which won’t affect your IP at all, and renew requests a new IP from your DHCP server. Anyway, even as an IT guy, I find it more of a hassle to try and bypass that shit than just finding a FTP or newsgroup or something like that instead.
