Hey, I’m glad you missed my point.
Next time read, k thx bye.
Heres what I dont get. If someone comes here for Guilty Gear information, most will quickly point them to the dustloop forums. If someone comes here for SFIV or any other game really, why should we point them to your place? If someone is new to the scene should we send them to your place until they “graduate” out of scrubdom? Maybe Im just not getting the point. Ill give it a look see though, probably wont join.
The basic problem with this whole idea is that no fighting game franchise has more than one successful forum (Brawl being the lone exception, apparently?). Soul Calibur did for awhile when 4 first came out, but the community eventually settled on 8wayrun.
Although the core membership here would likely complain, we’d be better off in the long run if all the smashers just came here. Keeps things simpler and helps them improve their game, and hopefully we get some new people who stick with it. =)
Good Point Josh-The FunkDOC. Good Point. All is Fighter will more then likely be the amateur step then graduate to here. Though I love the sites design.

Hey… that site ain’t half bad…
Smash, not Brawl (since Smash is the fighting game franchise and Brawl is just a single game from it), has two successful sites, not forums. (All Is Brawl should be called: All Is Smash)
Most, if not all, smash players who want to get good at Street Fighter are coming to SRK anyways for informational needs. AiF forums will be better than AiB forums, because of more moderation and what not, but it won’t get as good as SRK because SRK has time, numbers, and popularity on its side. But AiF isn’t a forum, it’s a networking site with a forum. All the smash players looking up strategies, combos, and all that jazz on here, will be hosting and searching for tournaments on AiF.

What’s the point of this when you can already do this on SRK? Unless you’re suggesting separate tourneys for SRK players and AiF players or something, I don’t see why you’re advertising something that’s already available on SRK…
Edit: Though it does give me a crazy idea on the possibility of league tourneys or something, with the AiF tourneys being the “minor leagues” and the SRK tourneys being the “major leagues”… Whatever, disregard my ramblings…
Ha ha. It’s a much simpler system, the way AiF does it, imo. There’s a tournament search where you can look for tournaments based on size, location, and offline/online. There’s an attendee count, separate forums for the tournament (with polls as well), the tournaments get advertised automatically on your updates page and on the home page, the host can message all attendees, attendees get updates whenever the tournament page is updated, and when the tournament is done you can upload the results with tio. On the tournament page anyone can look at the full bracket(s)/pool(s) and see how each player/team did. It’s pretty cool. Plus, when you find a tournament you’re interested in you can either click “I’m attending” or “Start Watching” to get updates for that tournament. (Some of this stuff is available on SRK, and I realize that)
I think it’s a really cool way to do tournaments. But since you’re used to SRK forums than you probably like that way much better.
It sounds more like “SRK for Idiots”.
Or like a bastardized Iphone application.

I’m just curious as to why this ain’t locked yet. But since it’s not…
AiF = baby steps to SRK, in a nutshell. That’s really all that needs to be said. Hell, if they put a link to SRK on the front page, that’d (probably) be even better.

lol i saw a video on youtube withnothing but people calling a Ness cheap for throwing fireballs at gimpyfish’s bowser. Gimpyfish(who i understand is a “top player” even replied something along the lines of fireballs being “cheap” good shit smash.
AiF doesn’t have the quality of knowledge or player base that SRK has. It’s the great content and membership that make websites like SRK and Dustloop, the central community for the games they represent. Features alone would not save AiF. In fact, AiF would have a hard time being seen as a credible site due to the fact that most SF players would not donate their presence or knowledge to AiF. Just besides the hate that most SF people here have towards Smash, there’s no reason for people to redirect the flow of information from one source to another. People should go to the source of the information, if they seek it.
So what’s AiF going to do? Breed quality players of it’s own? To do that I say good luck.
Heh. I just read the SF4 vs. Brawl article on AiF. I found it to be a terrible article as there was barely anything truly compared or contrasted, due to the author’s lack of knowledge of SF4’s mindgame, let alone SF, as he rightly admitted. So I question why the article was even posted up! What a waste of time it will be for everyone to read that. Newbies and knowledgeable SF players alike. It just shows you how credible the people are who are running AiF.
If AiF has key contributors like that author, the website is doomed to be a failure.
Edit: IMO, AiF is better off trying to integrate with SRK. If they really want their features to be enjoyed by the SF community, then they should try to see if they could get it implemented on SRK. If not, then it just shows you that they want to be celebrities in the SF scene rather than help it.

It’s really hard to read through some of the threads in the SF4 section there.
The best thread is probably Ultradavid’s Dan thread, which links to SRK 6 times.
No one seems to read anything being written of substance, and every second world is LOLZ or ^_^;;;
It really would be nice for this place to succeed and supplement SRK, but seriously, you can not possibly learn anything when every 2nd post is some weeaboo complaining or someone bragging they will destroy you because they beat all their friends. If that leaves 20% valuable contributors, 15% of them are probably on SRK, so what’s the point?
If the smash community wasn’t a joke and didn’t try to pass smash off as a serious competitive fighting game then you might get some respect. "How dare Evo have a smash tourney with items on! " Its that kind of mindset that will keep everyone from taking you seriously.
I thought this would be about some new Engrishy doujin fighter whose tagline happens to be “supplement to SRK”, but noooo… :annoy:
Clearly this should be a thread about a new game where rather than the players banning characters, the characters ban you.
So true, I haven’t played Smash for a whole week just cause of SFIV. It is (imo again) one of the best games I have played in a LOOOOONG time. I enjoy the technicality of the game and I’m always looking for ways to improve my game and so forth. AiB isn’t the main place for information, which is just like AiF’s relationship to SRK. I don’t see why ppl keep getting that confused.
Its a social site that offers a lot of different functions to those that want it. It gives its users so many options and AiB has only made the Smash community closer. It won’t hurt the SF community if there is a site dedicated “solely” to SF players that want to use her functions.
Staindgrey was only trying to get ppl interested in the game, give it a rest.
And what if Gimpy said something was cheap? What if he was having fun with the guy? You weren’t there, you don’t know his relationship between the two. Its unfair to judge by his character and skill solely on a video. Have you read youtube comments before? Thats kinda how I read that comment.
I like that, I may sig that one day.
Edit, I’m also really tired of having to copy/paste everything I want to post on these forums cause of the site being down. v_v
Noone gives a damn what tournament Justin Wong went to, who he beat in said tournament, and what tournaments he’s going to in the future. If people want to be groupies they’re in the wrong field of entertainment.
Even then, all that information is already available, it’s just not shoved into a package that looks like a group NYC metrosexuals threw together in an hour.
