i dont think this is true… if that were the case, evo would have used a more standard ruleset for the tourney, as it obviously would have gotten a far bigger turnout.

Just because I created an account then, doesn’t mean I have only been on here for that long. I guess I should have clarified. The interface is impersonal, not necessarily the people. There is no need to get so aggressive “Oh you have no say because of this”. I have nothing against the SRK community. There are tons of cool people here!

Lol at the thread there is character forums.

“Dudley is better than Balrog” etc, etc. Anyway I joind just to support the cause.

oh… in that case.

To everyone still complaining about items at Evo, they do this with other games besides Smash as well. All indications are that they will not ban anyone in Soul Calibur IV, which goes against the SC community’s own Nationals rules (where Algol, Yoda, & bonus characters are banned).

This even happened to a lesser extent with 3rd Strike a couple years back. In the US and Japan, players have always been allowed to switch their super art after winning a match, but Evo made a rule against this and there was a whole big forum controversy over it. Not sure if the rule was actually enforced or not, but I remember that much at least.

This recent Mr. Wizard post sums it up:

Wow, great, and what does this mean? I can hold 40 CvS2 tournaments in my basement, doesn’t mean jack shit, we aren’t on APEX anymore. Quality >>> Quantity imo.

Is that a good thing? I mean I frankly don’t give a shit if my community is filled with celebrities.

Over on SRK we have the smashers make a fool out of themselves for the past 2 years a Smash game has been at Evo. Tell me, who on SRK has gone to Smash boards and then proceeded to put themselves out there for a tournament the SRK community is running? Also who gives a fuck if a Smasher made more top players on here? We play for fun dude, not money. If it was for money people woulda stopped playing YEARS ago.

M2K has made almost 20,000 in two years.

Uhhh, whoopdefuckingdoo, like I said earlier, who gives a flying fuck? Who mentioned money?

We hate because people like you with these kind of posts act like some pompous bigot and try and use shit like money as some thing that makes you guys superior. And who are you? I’ve never heard of you in Marvel, where the fuck do you play?

why would somebody even advertise this here LOL

Did you even read that thread? It’s a comical argument, about Dudley being a gentleman and that’s why he’s better. And what did you expect in the first day of the site, with no real SF players on there yet.

A stupid one, the kind you expect on Gamefaqs. I did make an account though, it could get better.

That much in money matches for smash? Jesus, I feel bad for the parents of those 15 year olds who came home to find their purses empty because their kid had a money match.

Wow diem you make the smash community look bad. Playing solely for money is the lulz.

Smash community makes the smash community look bad. THey don’t need diem’s back up. Though I’m sure they appreciate it. <3

One of the reasons I enjoy playing Street Fighter is because it removes me from the vast majority of Smash players. I do not anticipate joining into an online community that is full of them.

imo.

First of all,

You guys come in here advertising a site and during a terrible job at it.

Ok fuck it I’ll say it .

I seriously believe this site is for the smash players to MILK of sf4 hype, like someone already mention before in this thread,I forgot who. But I do think this site is to get a real fighting game community to join up (SRK), under it’s arms, with a smashboards environment to influence everyone to think smash is a superior game over SF4.

Again, This site is just trying to milk of SF4 cause they know smash players are going be playing sf4.So they need a way to bring in SRK members that dont care for smash, and make it look like there for smashboards by just joining.

Actually there are a few smart knowledgeable non-nuthugging smashers who play the game because it’s fun. Thing is they don’t enough respect because it’s clusterfucked with players such as diem, who aren’t even that good, but talk shit 24/7.

I’m liking the SF community more and more.

From my experiences with the competitive video game scene so far (Halo 2 & 3, Smash Melee & Brawl, and now Street Fighter), the smash community is the friendliest, imo. Halo gets the arrogant guys/gals who think they’re the top sh*t and can 4 shot anyone, even a pro. SRK/Street Fighter gets the guys/gals who are all about business and keeping with the plan (from what I’ve noticed so far). Smash gets the younger, obnoxious, trolling, and/or attention needing kids who can’t keep their mouths shut.

In the end, I’ve had way more fun learning, playing, and meeting new people in Smash than I did in Halo by far. I haven’t played SF enough or gone to any tournaments to be able to make a correct judgement about SF and SRK as a whole.

I’ve had friendly people help me on here on transitioning into other 2D fighters, though they admit if they kept talking about smash then they’d get sh*t for it. But after reading this thread, my confidence is starting to lack. (The way I see it, it’s both sides’ fault)

But why are we discussing Smash when it’s a Street Fighter site that is the topic of discussion. lol

edit:

QUOTED FOR TROOF

You, my good man, need to post more in this thread.

Disregard what the OP says, and who said it. Also, disregard anything Diem says. They are both randoms out of the Smash community and are not good representatives, at all, for Smash.
All Is Fighter is not some secret scam to make everyone believe that Smash is greater than Street Fighter. Heck, even one of Smash’s most recognizable and respectable players, Gimpyfish62, made a group called: Street Fighter is better than Brawl.

What All Is Fighter is doing however, is: A place to network with people to get the word out about a tournament you or someone else is hosting, comprehensive full results from tournaments, a video library that categorizes videos based on characters, situations, and players, and an easy to use chat room where you can meet people to play online instead of relying on random challenges.

And as Neal said, “SRK is an amazing site and we have no intentions to even attempt to replace it. But don’t piss on our features, features that would prove of significant use to this community, just because we’re not SRK.”
