That discussion is giving players too much credit, and I don’t believe acting first is a losing tactic. I’ve won battles because I acted first, and acting isn’t necessarily an attack either. Nice to hear about a fake-out move anyway.

I am liking the combat

Is this game more of a multiplayer game or does the single player mode have as much gameplay to it? Net connection isn’t very strong here for online matchmaking >_>;

Three campaigns for each species.

Alot of reviews floating around, mostly 8/10’s or 4/5’s, from sites and Mags like IGN uk, OXM and others. Way too many for me to copy and pase, since I am very lazy.

The general complains are the alien’s single player is short, and the graphics are workable but nothing amazning.

The pros are the scary as hell marine campaign, and the unique multiplayer.

It’s pretty much what I expected. I’m not looking for game of the year, just a fun and authentic AvP experience

Game Informer gave it a 5.75/10, aka garbage

so one review gave it a bad score, hence everyone elses opinions don’t mean shit?

Also did you read the Game informer’s joke of a review?

He complains becuase the motion tracker was constantly beeping, or that the alien and predator campaign focused too much on stealth. It’s like the guy hasn’t even seen any of the source material.

And he acts surprised, saying the first 2 AvP games were well received, and they featured the same shit he was talking about. Did he even play the first 2 AvP games, or is he just going off of whatever he heard.

I’m fine with someone not liking a game, but at least give well-thought professional critiques, not some random bullshit you use to fit whatever pre-judged opinion you have.

This game is not going be the same cookie cutter standard shooter, and as such not everyone will like or want to put the effort to understand how it works, but for those that do, this will be a great game.

I think you just want a great game so bad, you’re willing to overlook what obviously makes it fall short. I was watching a competitive community cast the other day where they were talking about the AvP demo, and how he had tried 15 times to play, and had yet to get into a game.

What worked 10 years ago doesn’t necessarily work today, and that seems to be what the entire development strategy behind this title was. Of course I haven’t played the full game, only the demo, and I won’t buy it just because I can already tell how lame it is. It’s definitely not cookie cutter (outside of copy/pasting the title from 10 years ago), but that doesn’t make it good by any stretch of the imagination.

I don’t need to base my opinion on someone else’s, especially just one person when several other’s have given the game a good score.

the issues with the demo are plenty and pretty damning. The PC and the PS3 version had to be patched, with the PS3 even getting a brand new demo with the ability to search for your own games, something the 360 lacked. Also Deathmatchg is a crappy mode to learn the game, it’s not like they had a tutorial or anything, to allow players to learn and understand the rock, paper, scissors aspect of the melee- a new addition, and not something copy and pasted from the older titles.

I have played the demo quite a bit, and if i am having fun on a crappy unfinished demo with bad matchmaking, no dedicated servers, and a limited game mode, then I’m sure I’ll be having a blast playing the real game.

I agree that people bashing the game either base their opinion on weak arguments, aren’t familiar with the source material, or wouldn’t usually play stealth or FPS games. That’s not to say there isn’t flaws about the game people pointed out, but the bad reviews usually stem from poor arguments.

Thanks for the heads up

I was getting fried most of the time while catching up with my opponents, this should come in handy.

Was in the process of reserving at lamestop and this fine ass redhead that works there was all hyped about it, talking about about playing the demo all week. Mind blown.

But there IS multiplayer, right? Wouldn’t mind being a predator with a couple hunt-mates vs 3 or so aliens and the same amount of humans. Team vs team vs team.

and just from this one post ive come to the conclusion that you are stupid. one post. oh and i only read the first 2 sentences, but i dont need to read the rest to understand the complexity of the stupidity.

im outi

Yep, multiplayer is pretty much going to be the main time sink for this game.

You have species team deathmatch- 6 predator’s vs 6 marines vs 6 aliens.

mixed team deathmatch- 8 players of any species vs another team of 8.

free for all deathmatch

domination, sorta like a king of the hill mode with two teams of mixed species

and then you have the species centric unique game modes

survival- 4 marines co-op vs waves on enemy AI. The 1st AvP game was the first game to feature this type of mode back in 1999, but it’s more well-known as horde or firefight now.

infestation- one player is randoly picked as an alien vs the rest of a team of marines, each marine killed turns into an alien until the last marine standing.

hunt- another team of marines, but one predator, only the predator gets points for kills, if you kill the predator, you become the new pred.

Can’t wait for it. It’s such a blast to play. I like the counter system, saved me alot. Go MARINES! But something just keeps drawing me back to the Alien.

I predict the game will get an average of 7ish on metacritic.

It’s a very like it or hate it kinda of game, with a very old school arena feel that folks raised on MW and halo will not be right right home.

Some reviews are struggling with the controls and melee system, other’s, who took the time to perfect them, are enjoying it. all of them are saying the campaign is short with the marines and predator’s sinlge-player better than the alien, so those are con’s which are universally agreed on.

The only way to really be sure about this game, is to just play it yourself, and not blindy follow the opinion of another person just becuase he’s paid to give it.

I arena this game has a very old school feel and look(somehow) to it.

I enjoyed the demo, but im not sure if its worth 59%…it really should be like 39$ then i wouldn’t think twice about picking it up.

THe same could be said about you, Trying so hard to hate a game that you expect it to fail. That being said though, That sounds kind of flamey and I dont mean it that way.

I’ve been playing the demo and it’s pretty awesome. It’s what I expected in an AvP game. I’ve waited like 5-6 years for this game. I’m kind of sad the game isn’t shipping with an overrun mode, but that’s okay. I’m picking this game up without delay.

Kind of mad Predator’s dont have their trademark melee staff. oh well.

I thought it was weird I couldn’t at least swing the staff while I had equipped.
