UPDATE ON SSF4 PROJECT: I talked to one of our local Cameron’s Player lastnight about the project and it turns out he does custom stick modding. He said it will be easy for him to connect the current control panel to the PS3, so that is taken care of. If I do this I want it to look legit, not like the bootleg set ups they have at Family Fun (no hate just being honest). Now what size do you guys think the monitor should be? I have a $300 budget for the project and if one of you can point me out to a decent one at a good price I will appreciate it.

I haven’t read anything else, it’s too wild for me. But as far as this statement, I DO notice this even back in like 2005 when I would randomly go to camelot by myself to play marvel and sometimes you’d be there playing cvs 2 (we never officially met but I think we know who we are), I would notice this and wonder why you sandbag.
I thought it was just because you thought you were better than everyone, which you were but that’s not saying much since a lot of people that went to camelot were your average mexican guy taking their girls out on a date. Even if your intention is to teach people to play, I think it appears as if it is done out of spite.
A word of advice, the proper way to sandbag is not to lose to them but to keep the match as close as possible and barely beat them a few times so they get excited and think they have a chance to win and will keep playing. Always let it go to the last round or the last character. That is the true style of sandbagging.

you are definately right. sometimes it turns out all wrong, but i try different things with different people and see how they react.
its very hard because it is a polar opposite of playing to win, to be truthful sometimes that playing to win stuff is hard for me to forget about. its like an unconscious voice that wont shutup.
like sometimes i will use mostly just jabs, hoping to let them know that jabs are important, and allow for them to make more mistakes (less damage). of course the playing to win mindset seeps in from time to time, and without noticing it, i am playing to win with just jabs.
and sometimes i purposefully try to piss people off and try to find a way for them to beat me to relieve their tension and hopefully create a bond with them for playing the game.
it is however very hard to do what you said and “keep it close and exciting” when their fundamentals are truly flawed. i can only do that on my best days.
some people need to be given more wins than others too just to let them know its ok to lose as well.
losing on purpose imo creates a situation where i pay for half of the games, so hopeully they’ll just get used to playing against people.
its alll so delicate and hard to do properly.
