Alex? Nobody liked Alex when SF3:NG came out. He became kinda popular by the time 3S was over, but only among SF3 players…

It actually doesn’t matter that it’s Alex. People are baffled by the lack of PR in general.
If Guile were the first DLC character and there was next to no information about him, would you be saying the same thing?
For me personally, the lack of information isn’t the end of the world. It’s the being told “More info soon!” 2 weeks into the month, then hearing nothing for 2 weeks and then finally to be given a release date with no trailer to build up any kind of hype. Hell, a few more screenshots would’ve at least been something.
Oh well, only a couple of days to go.
I might even make my own trailer on release day just to make up for the lack from Capcom.

I feel like Alex’s launch is going to be horrible, plagued with gamebreaking issues. I can just imagine all the random disconnects and “Failed to connect to shop errors”.

As long as I can get him, I don’t care what state the rest of the servers or the shop are in.
The first 2 days after getting Alex will be like a montage of me in the lab.
So if nothing else people, at least you’ve got some videos to come from me.
If they do not release any kind of trailer at all, I’ll make one and then you guys can all send emails to Capcom telling them to give me the job of community manager.

I think the botched launch and poor sales really surprised them. As such all future material promised needs to be delivered a lot cheaper. Alex may not be as great as we or they would have hoped unfortunately.

I work in finance. This is how it works.

The weak launch offerings with content provided later is just a strategy to see how sales go and how much they want to continue to invest. I think they would have majorly downscaled their ambitions for SFV now. No launch trailer was just the first thing cut.

I don’t know why, but dlc is always more expensive per unit of content than the original game, but it always sucks more. Look at all batman dlc as an example. It’s so weak compared to the main game.

I’m.upset. I want alex to be awesome, I haven’t gelled with anyone in the cast and I love Alex in 3s. I’m really hoping he feels like that and is better

I fail at not sounding like a dick so don’t take the following as aggression or whatever -

You don’t need to work in finance to know that the first thing that goes out of the window when sales/figure don’t meet expectations is frivolous things like trailers. This is due in part to the saving of money and I would assume also a suspected lack of interest. (Even though anyone in their right mind would understand that a trailer creates more interest)
My biggest issue though is that I, someone with no editing/multimedia training, could make an Alex trailer. All I would need is the character for 2 hours just to find the hypest moves he has, 1 or 2 camera angle variations and then, being generous, 6 hours of editing. The fact that this hasn’t been done suggests that the he either isn’t finished or that he (And by extension the other DLC characters) are shoddy work and they don’t wish to show him off until they are forced to.

I know kinda how you feel. I was hyped up for Nash but I haven’t quite meshed with him. I was a long time Alex player in 3S until I stopped hating myself and picked Urien so as much as I love Alex, I’m still waiting for my main man. I’ve got to wait until the end of the season to see if Capcom even make Urien more than just a stick figure wearing a nappy.

They could have just done one of those character breakdown things they’ve already wasted time on for every other character, or had him payable somewhere etc they didn’t even have to do a trailer, I’d be happy with some good cam footage.

I’m not sure I agree that poor sales will affect things like Alex’s animations. A handful of pro players allegedly got their hands on Balrog months ago, and he was nearly complete. They already have at least one alt costume for Alex done as well. Chances are his art was done a while ago.

But it IS possible that Urien or other later DLC characters could be affected. Any character that’s more than 3 months out possibly.
