Akuma's Confirmed Changes for Ultra SFIV (updated 23rd May, 2014)

I just noticed that cl mk + ex shaku works on cr opponents but not on standing ones. Geez I’m not sure my old body can handle all these changes haha.

srk shortcut in SSFIV is a [down], a [direction] and a different [direction].
down = df, d, db
direction = f, df, uf, b, ub, db

you pick your combination as you want. I haven’t tested all the weird possibilities, but try and see. You’d better not try to master every char who need a srk motion by only using the old clean one. Figuring out the way your hands can do better will make a huge difference. And some char design ask for some very unorthodox motions.
I slept on this a long time and though I was shit with Guile and Gief for example. And yes it’s also true for most other special motions. You gotta find the hidden paths

Hey Shabrout, thanks for answering my question. I appreciate it. I never knew this. I thought there was some leniency in the SRK short cut but not that much!

I’m starting to love U2 because of this short cut (the one on the right).

It feels a bit sloppy/mashy when I do it because you have to be so fast, but it works, and that’s what matters.

I think Akuma is much more meter hungry in this version than before

Not sure if this has been mentioned, or maybe this is ancient because I pretty much started this game a few weeks before Ultra but… It seems like I did cr.MP linked into cr.HK lastnight a few times… Is that possible?

Probably counter hit.

no I’ve actually gotten that to work on some characters non CH. I believe they were ryu and hakan at like max range

I believe cr.MP does hit meaty on some characters but it’s very distance specific just like how cr.lp into low rh works on Gen and E.Honda from max range.

found this, take a look

This was posted today. Infiltration has won two tournaments with Akuma since the release of USF4.

Thought this was of interest because some here had talked about issues with Yun. Maybe one of you can breakdown this game?

Gamerbee’s Yun has never been particularly ready for prime-time, though. He was very timid here, and he shouldn’t be, because the risk-reward is definitely in Yun’s favor when going balls to the wall against Akuma.

+1
It usually goes more like the winner final match.

The most interesting thing for me was the huge change Infiltration demonstrated going into the grand finals. Prior to these matches, GamerBee busted him up pretty bad with Yun.

Secondly, the key thing Infiltration uses in this matchup is spacing. He tends to keep a constant box between him and GamerBee that nullifies a lot of Yun’s offensive options. If he closes in on that box, Infiltration back dashes, walks or kick teleports back to maintain it. When pressured in the corner he keeps his cool, then palm flips out to reclaim his spacing. Yun has no choice but to try and approach as he is largely ineffective at a distance.

I notice he also backdashes often after blocking a jump-in from Yun. Nice use of fs.lp to check some of those dive kicks too.

I don’t feel GamerBee’s Yun is a good indication of how this matchup tends to play out however. He lacks the aggression Yun players need to shut Akuma down, though at the same time Infiltration’s ability to consistently keep them at arm’s length might make the go-to Yun approach difficult.

Yun remains Akuma’s worst matchup by far in my opinion though. Harder still in Ultra too.

Thanks Gamogo this is really helpful. I was abe to watch the match again with a new perspective. I learnt a lot…I hope
