Akuma FAQs: Quick questions & answers!

I usually just focus if I see the actual elbow. But I don’t suppose that’s a good idea, is it. lol

How do you do that combo where you do some kicks and punches then a light Tatsu and after that a Shoryuken?

^ just do Akuma’s challeneges, you’ll learn it

st.hk to st.hp xx lk.tatsu into hp.srk

If you’re asking that kind of a question then you should DEFINITELY learn the game basics. Also, go through all of Akuma’s trials. The bare-bones version of it is:

Standing Fierce Punch linked into Low Kick Tatsu into Fierce Punch SRK (St. FP x lk Tatsu x FP SRK).

^ you actually cancel the st.hp into a lk.tatsu

When doing Df kicks, is it better to delay the kick or do it early?

Mix it up for shenanigans. Delay it to bait throw attempts. If you’re trying to stuff shit, it depends. Say for Ryu, exploding heart stuffs his LP SRK if I DK at the peak of the DF, but for Viper I have to delay the DK ever so slightly to stuff her HP TK.

General question: how high would you rate Akuma execution-wise? If anything I think spacing is the biggest hurdle in learning Akuma.

Uum a stupid question but, where do you get all this awsome SF avatars? Maybe there are people here who like to create them? Would want me some akuma avatar ):

I think having good execution is pretty important for Akuma players if you wish to use him effectively. Having good execution means you also have to commit yourself to specific setups and offense options which in themselves demand that you don’t fuck up your execution lest you get punished for 1/4 - 1/3 your health. Akuma’s players really don’t have a lot of room for errors.

Having decent execution also means that you can commit to damaging hitconfirm options on standing and crouching opponents to really wring the most out of the character.

I don’t think having insane execution is absolutely essential, but I think it is among the key skills to have if you want to tap into Akuma’s massive potential.

I agree with Gamogo!

Moreso than “good execution” I believe, is the ability to make the right decisions with Akuma that help the most. Knowing what to do for all situations, like punishing with a combo instead of a throw. Knowing which options are best to mount pressure on the opponent’s wakeup and how best to keep him guessing. Knowing how to keep your opponents at the right distance from you so you can control the game.

Execution is important, yes. But you can be decent with Akuma without being able to pull off insane combos all the time.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking! I can pull off almost anything in his arsenal, and I agree knowledge is much more important given his low health. I only ask because I started using Dudley for fun, and man, its intense! I think I’ll stick to Akuma and Rose.

Can anyone help with my Akuma on Psn?

So i was browsing air’s blog and i found this

What that really an OS throw? or just empty jump throw?

It was an OS. Just jump-in HK and when the hk would usually land (which it doesnt if they roll away) you do lp+lk.

Honestly, I think Akuma execution wise is pretty darn easy. The hard part is implementing all those option selects into your vortex game.

So nobody is going to help me with my Akuma? :frowning:

I think it depends. Some of his safe jump setups can be pretty strict and have to be done flawlessly. OS’s arent all that difficult its just getting use to the feeling of pressing an extra button(s) and following it up with your hit confirm/block string.

Dont run PSN sorry Funnyman.

I use psn. Maybe we’ll bump into each other

Yes. Have to be precise with the timing but you can do cr.mk to go underneath his elbo AND hit him once he lands on the floor. So, you can do cr.mk xx hp. shoryu or whatever you want to do as a punish. At the moment i’m not sure if the cr.mk catches him standing or crouching so i’ll have to look into that later.

I’m on PSN. Send me a message if you want some help with akuma.
