Akuma FAQs: Quick questions & answers!

guys,

how do you option select c.mp into dragon punch in order to kill those burning kick reversal mashing vipers?

u guys know what i mean?

tokido does that a few times.

After landing a Demon or back throw, take a mini step back and immediately go for a xup lk.Tatsu. It’s pretty ambiguous and hk.Tatsu will whiff

You can get hit by normal antiairs if you do that, like Akumas c.fp

Well, might be worth trying it at times or againsts those characters with weak vertical normals…

hmm…why do i get the impression that my question are often ignored… is it too hard to understand? or none of you here knows how to do it?

To answer your FIRST question, idk about MP DP, I always use os sweep, either that or do a late mk demonflip kick. Safe jump OS sweep will beat everything she has to get away. Late demonflip kick will stuff her dp/make it whiff, will beat ex seismo and back dash, and I think it trades with ex burn kick.

The thing with the OS sweep, if you safe jump with a j.rh or something, she can actually ex seismo feint, then block ur sweep and punish you. But if you safe jump with D+mk (after a sweep hold up forward then do the d+mk) then os sweep, this will beat her seismo. That’s just my advice, other people tend to use other things. <3 GL.

edit:forgot to note that the os sweep will go low, so it will make ex burnkick whiff, but you can just sweep again to punish it.

@deejay

you are not getting my question right.

i also use safejump os sweep on viper. but that is only during knockdown.

what i am asking is.

its hard to do stuff like after block string to throw/grab due to viper doing reversal burn kick if you ever tried to grab.

lets say c.lp tries to grab end up eating a reversal burn kick.

or even c.mp,c.mp,c.mk if its not timed well enough its gonna eat reversal burn kick.

so i’ve heard of ways to add srk during c.mp,c.mp strings so that if viper does reversal burn kick srk beats her out of it.

my reason is.

i want to condition her not to do reversal burn kick so that i can go and grab her once in a while.

if you can’t even grab her or force ch mind games(due to her doing burn kicks) during block strings then it is really tough.

because for every instances viper only have to block and not worry about being grabbed.

you get me so far?

its not for knockdown issue. its already common that sjos sweep is a must against viper. its the upclose battle that’s extremely hard.

I don’t get it, how exactly do you plan to condition her to stop reversaling BKs with a Shoryu? If you know she’s gonna do it, just punish/adjust accordingly.

If you know (like it seems) that you can stop her doing that with a cr. strong OS DP, and your question is just about the timing for the DP OS, then you just got to work on it in training mode, imho.

err…if i know she’s gonna do it just punish with what? adjust with what?

can u explain better?

its hard to explain with words i’ll try to find the video’s to reference what i am trying to say…

Well, first off you should probably be more specific when asking for advice on something. If you know the answer already, why are you asking? Like Dr4gzur said, hit up training mode.

Only thing i can think of is cr.lp OS shoryuken, i don’t know if you mean that? it starts at 7:05. The input for it is df+jab, down-downforward + 2punch. If your opponent blocks, the jab autochains into itself. If the opponent does a burning kick, a EX shoryu will come out. I think the OS works without the EX version as well.

Which punch versoin are you suppose to use when doing the tigerknee cross-up air hado setup setup from a sweep or back throw? Jab or strong? What is the proper spacing? I’ve been having problems keeping long enough hitstun to keep the combo going.

thanks that’s what i am looking for. but i reckon its possible to do it with c.mp perhaps…

but c.lp os srk is cool as long as it interrupts reversals like burnkick/messiah

@deejay i think its pretty specific already. just that you don’t know about jab os srk much that you ignored it totally and thought that its on knockdown when i didn’t even state that.

i know the answer but i am unclear about exactly how to do it. therefore i ask duh…

but whatever, my question is sorta solved already.

You don’t do the tk fb off of sweep or b throw. Only time it’s a viable mix up is after palm, demon throw or demon (ultra) I think the opponent will stand up too quickly after a super demon

Hey guys I’m looking for some advice on canceling sweep into ultra, particularly when someone does a focus attack. I’m working on getting this down, but right now what I’m doing is tapping cr.HK and then quickly double tapping LP right after. If I see they focused then I finish the ultra input. Sometimes this is quick enough and sometimes it isn’t. I’d imagine the best way to do it is to tap LP and HK at the same time, but its such an awkward finger placement and I’m having a hard time with it. Is this what you guys do? If so then how did you adjust?

HK+2x LP is the only way to do it as far as I am concerned.

You cannot afford to lose any time when you’re going for sweep xx Raging Demon to beat a FA.

So I guess I just need to adapt to the awkward finger placement? I was thinking of binding the last button to LP so it’d be right next to HK, but that just seems like cheating so I decided against it.

hey guys i know this isnt the Adon forums but its pretty much dead alot. I have some questions regarding the matchup and id like your views on it.
I figure this is as good a place as any but if not I apologise.

Anyway I tend to have issues with akumas heavy kick mostly. It just feels like I cant punish it unless I get lucky/read my opponent well enough. Any thoughts on this ?
Also what do you guys think on the matchup? who is it in favour off if at all?

I believe the match is in Adon’s favor, though that might just change in AE given his wake-up timing nerfs. It will probably be 5-5 in AE if not slightly in Akuma’s favor. With Akuma’s st. HK you have to just block. You’re better off timing your SRK knee to intercept a possible DF mixup after the standard st.HK>cr.mk>mixup

hey thanks for the fast response. I dont know if its because I play Adon but I hate just blocking, but as you say I just end up blocking.
Thanks for the input though, its interesting to see you feel its in Adons favour, I feel it ‘should’ be in his favour too, but I always have alot of trouble in this match heh
