Based off of the type of jump in I say it was more of a good guess. You can OS, but this case I don’t think it was.

Cammy wakes up 2 frames slower after Akuma’s forward throw and her DP is a 5 frame reversal, after the 2nd dash you can do a slight pause then execute the x-up tatsu to beat a reversal canon spike, timing is a bit weird though.

Guys I find myself relying on cr.jab, cr.jab, cr.medxx Ex hadouken far too often, mainly because it’s pretty easy to hit confirm it and if its blocked follow up with a tickthrow or frame trap.

Besides this my aresenal of attacks are mostly single moves cancelled into specials or lone special attacks.

I feel like i’ve gained a good understanding of zoning and Akumas wakeup game now however I don’t seem to be landing any great combos.

I use standing fiercexxlk tatsu, HP shoryuken; but purely when I know i’m going to hit I.E punishing.

What do you consider to be Akumas hardest hitting combos that can be hit confirmed?

EDIT:Oh and I use far standing HK, crouching forwardxxEX Tatsu occasionally too. Mainly because I find I’m always out of range to connect with the lk tatsu :confused:

It’s really important to learn just how far away you can be for a lk.tatsu to connect. Sometimes landing st.rh followed up by cr.mp will push them to far, but cr.lk has almost no pushback and can connect a lk.tatsu after. Also if you land a st.rh too far away you may still be able to land st.lp into sweep

On your hard hitting question. I haven’t implemented it yet but I’m going to start hit confirming with st.lk after dive kicks and jump ins. You can still easily link cr.mp xx w/e off it. Also there is no reason not to cr.mp or cl.hp to hit confirm. It just really depends on how easily you can react. I find myself landing a dive kick and start cr.lp away out of habit and then before I know it they are too far away to lk.tatsu. Just go for st.hp and if it’s blocked mix it up. Cancel into hado or lk df, idk get creative. If you focus too much on hit confirms instead of just going for it and reacting on the fly then you will lose out on tons of damage

i’ve been starting to use stutter jabs and cr.mp * 2 frame traps with great success. Counter hit cr.mp into st.rh is so pringles once you get the timing down. In my experience and how I’ve changed my playstyle recently, go through a jump in, block string, anything as if it is going to hit. If it hits, lk.tatsu. If it doesn’t, make something up lol

the only moves after f.rh should be
close: st.hp
med: cr.mk
far: cr.lk

how do you deal with cross ups?
I actully found myself to be a predictible shit when using teleports, so I’m trying not to use em…
but when I miss fire a srk to someone doing crossup I… well etc

what’s a good way to deal with cross ups?

Block, AA, cr.mk so that you go under them, or autocorrect DP

Other than wakeup situations, cr.hp does a very good job vs cross ups.

I really have a hard time getting close to an opponent without taking a lot of damage and when I do get close enough, they do a block string to push me away from them again and I do something stupid like try to jump back in. What are effective ways of closing the gap?

sorry I was referring to wake ups. only new method I’m trying to abuse is the shortcut srk where u do down forward > down > down back for the input. but that’s still reliant on them being more over your head than not…
9/10 I’m just whiffing in the wrong direction… which is a cross up’s wet dream…

depends who you’re fighting. if it’s a energy attack guy just try learning how to focus through atleast 1 fireball. or through a one of those red ones to force them to block a bit longer. way I tend to do best is to get mid screen then just try to provoke them into an attack. that’s just how I’d deal with it. oh and EX roll is always fun, but make sure to safe land so you dont fucking turn urself into a big rolling target ball of shit

I’m a nub but im slowly changing that, but I need someones help. I have been pointed to trags combo thread when I asked this question previously but I dont know what is what and if it still works in ssf4.

1)What should I use to hit confirm with? like Cr. Mp after the demon flip?

2)What should my go to poke/block string combo look like? What normal moves should I combo with to put pressure? Are those the frame traps?

I apologize its just I"m lost in all the info and don’t know whats what.

So guys I have a couple questions regarding some of Akuma’s setups: 1) his corner unblockable and 2) his demonflip corner divekick setup.

  1. So the corner unblockable as I know, is a forward throw into the corner followed up by a double dash forward with a X-up jumping forward. Is there a certain timing on this setup? I feel like everytime I do this my opponent (a good friend of mine who I play with often) just walks out of the corner and my kick whiffs.

  2. I’ve seen Tokido do this setup a few times and it might be character specific, not sure. It’s a demonflip throw into the corner. Followed up by a single forward dash mk demonflip dive kick. It hits the opponent as a X-up in the right corner and in the left it hits in this weird manner where it hits the person’s neck (pretty much behind) but you land in front. I have the same problem where my friend just leisurely walks forward and out of the corner when I set it up (he uses Rog). Any hints/tips on this set up as well?

The unblockable is character specific, and afaik the dive kick set up is also character specific, if u jump in with a short , it look like it crosses up but I it never does, so you can try that

What characters does that second corner set up work on?

I know the first works on Ryu, Ken and Makoto.

Here’s a start: do a DFDK on wake up and make sure it hits deep. Then you can go into c.MP x2. If that hits combo into tatsu into SRK. If it’s blocked you’re safe and you can try an ambiguous jump-in if you want.

i am extremely newb. I always drop combos, and eat mashing shoryu and ultra’s from ken. any advice? I feel so rage vs kens.
