It’s a 1-frame link with counter hit. I believe it works on every character.
Yeah I remember seeing c.MP-f.HK in a match video and was like “whaaaa (o_O)” but it does work. I know I will never ever be able to pull it off in a match though.
Quick question. How do you buffer srk into block strings so you can catch people trying to tech throws? I always do the motion after two cr.lps but I don’t know if that’s the right way to do it.
It’s not a buffer, it’s a guess. Look in the Frame Trap thread under the stickies there’s a description of it and more there.
Yes the only time I would see it completely whiffing is if someone can duck both hits and even then on hit it has a better chance of working.
Hey guys, Quick question on some mix up timing. After I sweep, what is the timing for an empty jump (or is a meaty better?) lk into whatever combo to beat the throw. Every time I go for it I keep getting thrown out of it. Also when is a good time to use the demon flip palm crossover into crouch medium lk tatsu?
can akuma do cr. mp into cr. hk? I can do the link on ryu, but I can’t seem to ever do it on akuma.
^Only if the cr.mp was a counter hit.
There is a specific thread just for your question,
http://shoryuken.com/f249/safe-palm-strike-dive-kick-thread-247643/
The situation varies since characters have different wake up time.
Quickie about AA’ing:
When you’re zoning somebody and you think they might try and jump one of your FBs, what do you do to get ready to SRK?
Do you input: d, df, f+HP for the FB and then immediately go to df so you can SRK quickly and low, and wait to see if they jump?
No you just throw the fireball, see them jump and then just use the SRK command. Doesn’t need any kind of buffer… unless you are playing on red bars or something.
I can’t do that in time.
When I throw a FB I instinctively block or reset to neutral. To go from neutral to df, d, df+HP takes too long. I always get hit, or at best trade.
Don’t jumps take the best part of 30 something frames?
When I fireball I just ready myself the begin an SRK command without actually inputting anything. After throwing a fireball, if it’s possible to block, then SRK will work; it’s all or nothing. There’s no need to hover anywhere near the block direction after a fireball.
Infact if anything, you should often be walking forward after it if they haven’t jumped.
Akuma Vs Vega
Can Vega time his Flying Barcelona Attack Slash so that it’s impossible to anti air it (c.HP or Demon Ultra 1). Or is it always unsafe/risky to for him to do that move vs Akuma?
Some Vega players are very good at landing his Izuna drop, but Akuma’s hitbox ain’t huge so it’s not a guaranteed grab. Overall FBA is a risky move with lots of recovery that most good Vega players won’t use much outside of combos.
When I’m playing against a Vega player that likes to FBA a lot, I usually try to mixup the ways I punish him with SRK, cr. HP, neutral/back jump and hit him in the air or focus absorb his slash and dash towards him to land a combo> untechable knockdown or at least forward throw him into the vortex (which works great on Vega), be careful not try focus dashing an EX FBA because he can easily hit you with 2 slashes, also don’t abuse focus too much because there’s still a chance to get grabbed with FBA or he can use EX Sky high claw which breaks armor. Finally you can just teleport out of it if you don’t want to risk getting grabbed (specially when you’re low on health), you can teleport U2 his landing recovery pretty easily if you’re not using U1.
It is always unsafe, but he can come at a deeper angle to make c.HP harder to hit with. What I have been doing more often against Vega is to buffer the U1 into the c.HP anti-air. So my input looks like this.
D+HP+LP x 2
If he gets hit by the anti-air then no further input. If it whiffs and he fakes or tries to go for a deeper angle I finish the input. If it is well timed you can catch him out of it even at full screen. Just a note though if he is on the opposite side you are facing don’t finish the inputs. The demon can come out backwards.
If he consistently does it at a deep angle you can always use SRK as well.
Nice, excellent info guys! I was getting blown up big time later today by a Vega player, wasn’t sure how to deal with his gimmicks.
I like your U1 trick Loyal, that should come in handy.
Thanks again!

It was just posted today. Posting here to make sure those who missed it get a chance to try it out
So what’s the deal with oni akuma? Did he ever surface in SSF4:AE? Ditto for evil Ryu?
Don’t think thats the case. If they were in the trailer they should be in the game. People are saying they are most likely timelocked as thats what was the case with original Akuma in vanilla arcade.
