String to, walk shoryuken fadc is extremely good also.
Best option is to use a c.mp. If it counter hits, you can link a c.hk and get a free untechable knockdown. Or c.mp/mk xx fireball into FADC sweep for another UK. You can end it with an EX fireball if you choose, but i’d rather expend the extra bar for a UK.
Frame traps are also very handy or if you’d like you can delay the timing in your jabs and shorts or whatever, and just continue into your hit confirm.
Demonflips work, so do walk up srks, but if you dont have meter or the opponent anticipates the DF then you can get AA’d and/or punished pretty hard. Considering a srk, fadc, shaku only deals 239 (thats when you cancel after the second hit with mp srk, hp srk is 229) it really isn’t worth the two bars. Not saying that combo is useless, Infiltration used it quite abit during EVO. Then if the srk is blocked then you wasted 2 bars for a little bit of chip damage.
Id say Ex tatsu is a more viable option than the above. If it hits, awesome and if it’s blocked, atleast it distances you away from your opponent instead of landing right on top or in front of them.
best way to combat dudley? keep getting caught by machine gun punch.
Shoryuken fadc isnt all about dmg, but safety. If it hits you got shakunetsu, if it gets blocked you go back to pressure game.
Also Akuma ex tatsu loses by c.lk very often which is very annoying ><

mp, hp, and ex machine gun punch can be jab-> sweep on block, you can demon the ex machine gun punch, and usually if youre getting caught in a lot of them, you might be throwing out too many air fireballs.
blocked dp without fadc’ing out, means youre sitting there waiting for a big combo

C.lp will stop an ex tatsu but c.lk whiffs, since it hits low. Chances are if someones mashing out, they’re mashing a crouching throw tech, an ex tatsu will catch this.
Because… it does? I’ve been hit out of ex tatsu by Rose,Ryu,Rog,Bison I can name off hand. Theres probably even more characters that can do it.
Just looked back at it, it’ll beat a properly done crouch tech but the reversal jab/short spam will beat it.
problem is, you gotta do it with the right timing.
If someone’s spamming crouch tech you basically have to do c.lp (blocked) and immediately go into ex tatsu. If you do a pause in between the 2 inputs it’ll get stuffed.
On the contrary, if you’re playing someone semi-competent they’ll delay the crouch tech and you’ll also have to delay the ex tatsu…like c.lp (blocked) [1/2 second pause] ex tatsu. If you do it too early they’ll block, if you do it right they’ll get sucked in.
Basically you have to know who you’re playing against for this bait to be effective. If done right it’ll beat the crouch tech from ANY character.
What’s the best counter to a ryu doing a blocked focus attack/shoryuken dash canceled into another shoryuken or a throw?
- You could always Teleport away as soon as you see him flash yellow
- Try to tech the throw late
- Mash your own SRK?
Honestly I dont like using either ex-tatsu or srk fadc after a block string. I rarely use them if ever. Id much rather fish for the counter hit sweep and get the knockdown.
Q: Why do I never see Akuma’s going for c.lp-c.lp, s.hp xx teleport xx U2 when they have U2 selected? Its not that hard to input and seems like it would be a useful to use instead of Akuma’s bnb when the opportunity presents itself. Is it more important to save it to use as a punish rather then get the extra damage when you can?
What’s the best punish for a blocked overhead dash punch from Balrog?
U2 usually works better for punishing things like rufus’ messiah kick or os against rogs, its really hard to actually combo into it
c.lp xx lk tatsu > sweep.
If you’re playing a laggy match just mash lp srk.
