Its actually a good question. I only recently started to connect srk with like 100% success.

For some wierd reason i thought it was something like a 1frame link and what i mostly did was spam shoryukens (or rather:df: + punch) to get it, which actually works great btw but is noobish :P.
So then i though why the fuck am i doing it that way? You can connect c.mp/sweep/s.hp after lk tatsu without spamming them (which doesnt work) cant you? So since the srk is 3f and, say, c.mp is 4f it should be more than easy to time a srk right.

So my tip, know when to hit c.mp after lk tatsu and after max 5 tries srk will come out naturally :stuck_out_tongue:

If need be I’ll start a thread on it and start working on it. I’m taking care of shotos first then moving on to characters I have a hard time with. Are there any characters you really want to know U2 set-ups for?

A lot of it is common sense but there are some set-ups that are counter-intuitive, that look like they won’t connect but do, and look like they should connect, but will never connect.

Well all i want to do is be able to find a way to land either of akumas ultras seeing as hes my favorite guy in the game since sean didnt make it. I honestly have more success with bison, but akuma is just somebody i want to use way more but his ultra doesnt land for me unlike psycho punisher which is quite easy and somewhat invincible on start up and stuff.

Well close s.fp to U2 is the most reliable way to get it. If that doesnt work then u dont have many choices left :stuck_out_tongue:

I get it about 95% of the time. For me, execute the SRK immediately AFTER seeing the white leg blur behind Akuma during his light tatsu. Up until that moment, the stick should be neutral with zero input. I found that using the actual SRK input (forward, downforward, down, downforward, forward, HP) works better than any input leniency/shortcut (downforward, down, downforward, HP) in regards to the light tatsu combo.

Just a interesting thing I noticed but you can OS throw tech with a crouching strong, just by hitting mp along with the throw tech (lp+lk+mp). Same start up as a crouching short and still techs.

Only downside is you cant continue a blockstring but you do get a frame trap out of it.

The same thing applies with every other button (mp/mk/hp/hk). I saw it here http://shoryuken.com/f258/guile-option-selects-208157/. It is pretty useful vs Rufus’ dive kick pressure cause c.lp+c.lk+c.mp will break a throw and stop him if he tries a 2nd dive kick, where c.lp+c.lk would only break the throw attemp and lose to dive kick. Too bad im a pad user and it cant really be done easily.

I like the crouching strong more than the other buttons just because if it counter hits you can link into a sweep or another strong to BnB.

That and it comes out faster than most of his other crouching normals.

In my opinion Akuma doesn’t really need his ultra1. Never plan to land that ultra. Use it only to punish and as AA (c.mk xx Ultra).
I can’t tell you about Ultra2. Only vanilla here.

I’ll start work on a sure-fire U2 thread on a character per character basis with a couple of base-line tests for each character, like “does xup tatsu lead to U2?” Or “does U2 punish <character>'s U1? U2? Does it counter U1/U2?” et cetera.

What is a TK air fireball? I’ve seen people refer to it for crossups or something, but I don’t know what it is.

can anyone show me a link of c.lp+sweep option select video and how to utilise it?

i assume it can’t be done against 3frame srk.

but against character with 5frame reversal i should be able to do it before right?

No, the cr. lp to cr. lp + cr. hk option select will always lose to Srk’s. It is really only meant to beat back dashes. Good times to use this OS is on a meaty cr. lp (ex. your opponent’s wake up or after an air-to-air reset) and after a blocked focus attack.

I’ve always wondered this, but on landing animations, when do buffered animations startup? After the 3 and 4th frames, or during? What about with empty jumps?

-After a jump, there are 4 landing frames where you cannot walk/dash/jump again.
-If you empty jump, you can block immediately upon landing (standing or crouching, no difference), or do an attack the instant you land.
-If you attack in the air, then you cannot block for the first 2 frames when you land, and can’t attack for all 4 landing frames.
-You can always tech throws that grab you during your landing frames.
-If you attack in air and then attempt to attack during your landing frames, the attack will be buffered and performed as soon as the landing frames are over.

even the 5frame moves like sagat dp? or chunli sbk? or worse like viper/gens reversal?

i need to find that video, posting here sometimes makes even more confusion…

Cr. lp has 7 recovery frames. So you will only be able beat to 9+ frame reversals. It’s only meant to beat backdashes.
