Considering what Justin said on his tier list, does Akuma make a good alt for Bison’s bad matchups?
I don’t know what Justin said, but I main Akuma and alt Bison since Vanilla SF4 and IMO they make a pretty good pair. Akuma does very well or at least goes even against these characters that give Bison trouble: Guile, Zangief, Honda, Seth, Vega and Abel (I personally do fine against Abels as Bison). Some people don’t like fighting Rog and Fei as Bison and Akuma does well against both of 'em.
Bison Covers Akuma pretty well too, I personally use him the most against Viper and Ibuki who give Akuma trouble.
However IMO both lose to Yun and Cammy but those aren’t exactly horrible matchups so it’s fine.
I duno how you feel Boxer is “ok”, I’m clueless online against them if they turtle a bit.
Free dash all day, out ranged jabs, safe long sweep. Frame trapping him is not that easy, getting a kd even worse. And once you got one, still need to hope he’ll try something else than block. If not, back to frame trap fails all day…
Oh cool, thanks for the reply. I was using Akuma before but kinda stopped, cause I didn’t really believe I was that good with him. I went to Yang/Ken recently just because of fun factor, and I believe Yang beats Guile (not sure about Ken). I personally hate fighting Rog/Fei as Bison too, some games I’m feeling myself and I’ll do good, and other it just shows and I get destroyed.
I mean when you think of some of Bison’s worst match ups like Guile or Honda both those are in akuma’s favor.
Ah yes. I actually lost to a very good Honda, he even styled on me and I laughed. Switched to my auto pilot Akuma and got a perfect. Before anyone rages at me, I’m saying mine is Auto Pilot, not Akuma. He actually said the matchup becomes “retarded” if I put time into learning Akuma. Right now I’ve been learning Ken, but I don’t think he necessarily beats Guile, and Honda I’m not sure…
I got a question.
I’ve always really liked the veritable tool shed of normals and options that is Akuma. But, I find a distinct lack of enjoyment learning and practicing his vortex game. Would it be considered a grievous misuse of his potential to play him more like Ryu/Ken? More focused on fundamentals and strong poking rather than always trying to set up the vortex.
You can’t play Akuma without mastering that anyways.
People always talk about the vortex, but Akuma wins most of his match ups by being fundamentally solid.
It depends. You wont win as good as you could by using the vortex game. On the other side you will never be high level without fundamental basics.
I would take a good look at Infiltration. He is not laming the vortex as much as Tokido does. Tokido as an example almost never won any Tournaments with his Vortex Gameplay.
You should use it as an Tool. And by the way its not that much to learn it. You just need to know the options u have after a hard knockdown and mix it up.
i have a question on my own. Does anyone take use of akumas far.st.mk or far.st.mp. sometimes i use the far.st.mk in the flow of a match or after a blocked cr.mk… with the far.st.mk i get then often a counterhit. but the far.st.mp i have no clue where i can implement it.
hello anyone here??
i use far st mk sometimes. no use for mp rly. btw sorry that we’re not always at ur beck n call
i compared the hitboxes from far.st.mp and far.st.lp and theres almost no reason to use mp but the damage. the hitbox and thr hurtbox are positioned much better in lp version. why then do they put such a useless normal in the game? maybe because of the little extra damage…
thx for the answer, realy appreciate it, didnt want to insult anyone.
Is it beeing a lIttle bit silent in the forums lately?
Maybe they wanted to make it spe cancelable like E.Ryu and removed it for some reason later.
Why they give Cammy safe on block and linkable to follow up mediums and spe cancelable HP and cr.HP ? The insanity is everywhere
its silent cuz theres nothing really new to post about akuma
So I’ve been playing Akuma since vanilla released on PC and I’ve neglected to use any FADC combos into s.HP xx tatsu this whole time. I think I used to try it way back then but I’d mess it up all the time so I kinda forgot about it. Been trying to do the whole input a fireball motion then tap forward again with MP and MK to make it quicker but I tend to not get the forward dash, just a released FADC. Any tips on this?
Or just a released FA rather, no dash.
The trick I’ve developed is to hold forward at the end of the fireball motion along with MK and MP, and then just give the stick another tap. Works pretty consistently for me. If that doesn’t work, then you’ll have to FADC by tapping forward+MK and MP, then tapping forward again. Nice little shortcut there too.
yes just hold forward while the special start and then as fast as possible NEUTRAL then forward MP+MK. If you don’t hold forward long enough for the special to really starts up or miss a Neutral state between, you’re toasted.
No need to use MP+MK twice, at all. Don’t rush it, you have plenty of time and wont gain any frame trying to rush it.
Second there’s different timings in special cancel that will make you miss if you use only the same timing. mp xx fireball FADC and mk xx fireball fadc for example.
mk xx fireball is done slower because the cancel to fireball happens later.
For cl.st.mp xx fireball it’s instant cancel almost, the fastest fireball FADC Akuma have. So adjust the timings accordingly.
Hi guys, I’ve recently started playing Akuma, and I’m having difficulty hitting a heavy shoryuken in the following combo: HP->Low Hurricane Kick -> juggle with Hard Punch Shoryuken
I can’t seem to get the timing right, I do the inputs/motion but my character doesn’t move. Is there’s a specific time to start the motion? Thank you in advance!
