just wanted to make sure of something, but does akumas demon flip throw whiff vs crouching ? I know all other air command throws like this whiff vs crouchers, sans fuerte (hooligan, goukens DF, guy, etc )
no, but you have to activate it at the very last moment.
It’s also easier to get the grab to connect using the stronger version of demon flips, because the grab range gets bigger.
e.g LK demon flip grab has the smallest grab range while EX demon flip grab has the biggest.
does anyone have a safe jump on chun after a midscreen forward throw?
I didn’t realize that the throw ranges were different depending on the button pressed, and I think I’ve always just used the :lp: timing on all of them.
The irony here is that I miss with the EX flip more than I do any of the others, especially on crouchers. I typically fly right past them and get the throw whiff animation as a crossup. Never miss though when I used it against someone stuck in fireball recovery frames.
F Throw > dash > immediate HKDF > dive kick as late as possible.
you have to eyeball the timing of the kick, but since SBK is 6 frames it shouldn’t be too hard.
EDIT: I forget whether or not chun wakes up late after F throw, I don’t think so though
And i never realised how damn hard is it to palm a crouching Chun and how easy it is to whiff cr.HP on her crouching after a first cl.HPxxfireball FADC.
They aren’t different as far as I know but the jump arc makes it easier.
Hey real quick question.
What are akuma’s bad matchups in ae 2012?
Trying to get a good idea of what matchups may be difficult with Cody/Akuma
Cammy and ibuki are all i can think about but i havent really payed attention to akumas bad MU’s since i dropped him when i started learning the game
There is some argument, but IMO the two bad ones at the moment are Cammy and Yun. Some others are difficult to play against (Rufus, Bison, etc), but not because the character is at an advantage. Those are just match ups you have to know exactly what you are doing.
Thanks. thats what i figured. Cammy seems to be a pain in the ass no matter who i play. And wow the akuma forum responds fast as fuck compared to the cody forum lol
Seth’s wall dive can be cr. mk or hk demoned right guys?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
yeah. it can b just plain demond
Anyone have some tips to time a 4f safe palm after sweep ?
It’s surprisingly hard maybe because of the hitbox not reaching that low and the opponent hurtbox on wake up too low to be hit ?
I only seem to be too early whiffing it completely despite the wakeup animation is the right one used to meaty j.HK (aka their is an hurtbox to hit down here), or too late eating the reversal.
Other than watching for Akuma crouch after standing up or walk forward a bit, there’s pretty much no trick to it, you gotta manually time it as there’s no time to whiff anything for timing purposes.
Where are the vortex haters when you need them. They could tell me how easy it was for them to do this simple safe jump pressure…
Is this for EX spinning bird kick as well?
Cammy, Yun would be bad. I’d say Honda, Bison, Balrog, Vega, Yang, Fuerte, Rufus, and Seth are matches where you need to play without mistakes in order to win. Rose can also be problematic if you’re not used to playing good footsies.
It should be. I was testing this against 4 and 5 frame reversals; 4 frames is iffy so I wouldn’t do it on those. 5 frames was considerably easier to hit. EX SBK is 6 frames so you should be able to slip it in no problem
The thing with f throw > dash once > immediate HKDF with a really late dive kick is that it’s relatively easy to have it meaty as low to the ground as possible. BUT, it isn’t exact safe jump timing since you have to eyeball when to input the dive kick command.
However, this only works against characters that have “normal” wake up timing after F throw. Characters that wake up late (Deejay, Cammy, Dhalsim, some others) it will (almost) always whiff. This is pretty great too because you can do it against DeeJay for a safe bait, since they love to do upkicks all the time.
Yea, seems like Akuma has to manually time all his safe jumps except dash x2 jHK against Cammy.
In general, trying to safe jump 4 frame reversals without a water-tight timing set up seems like just asking for trouble. Against those I make a decision beforehand whether to gamble or just empty jump.
EDIT: Double post. Forgot this was the same thread
