Asides from delaying the cr.mp, what I like to do is do a short, jab blockstring and walk back to see if they whiff cr.short or throw. Then I just press cr.mp or some other button in range to punish. After you condition them to stop throwing, you can start throwing.
Honestly, if you have two bars; jab, jab, very brief pause, DP. Jab jab dp catches crouch tech spammers all day. They will watch on, and either stop mashing it or start looking to make you waste two bars
How do you go about doing cHK from the LK tatsu? Iām pretty much a noob here and I have no idea on how itās supposed to be performed, as just pressing cHK after the LK tatsu doesnāt seem to work.
Just tried it, indeed works much better thx. This game is great man, rewarding those who learn to use different inputs with different possibilities hehe. With this technique I can finally put offensive pressure with cr.mk lol.
You probably got hit once already. The focus attack only has 1 super armor, so if they hit you with something (like a cr.lp) first, their sweep will hit like normally and cause an untechable knockdown.
You got hit by a reversal. Specials used as a Reversals (when you recover from knockdown/hitstun/blockstun) are armour-breaking.
You got hit by a move that has armour-breaking properties on itās own (Akumaās DF Palm for example).
You got hit twice, knocking you out of your focus.
You got hit by a command throw. Some throws look like hitās, but are actually throws, so it may seem like you got hit.
You got hit JUST as you let go of your focus, which will strip you of any armour and turn it into a regular attack. Only FA lv3 can absorb a hit DURING itās attack.
First person I saw using such technique was MOV (famous 3S player), I think heās the one who found this OS trick.
Never played anyone who used it though so no idea how to counter it. Wouldnāt pressuring him with 2 normals cause the first one to be absorbed but the 2nd one to hit them out as theyāre focus backdashing?
i.e:
cr.mp x2
cr.mp, cr.mk
cr.mp, st.hp (far version might come out as they backdash)
cr.lp, st.hp
i lost to mov in tournament doing this. canāt frame trap him or grab him much. and lately is the newest thing going on with everyone in my area doing this more and more often.
just need to know how to start countering it, before it gets troublesome.
if thereās no gab continue blocking.
if thereās a little gab backdashes.
cr.mp, st hp will probably hit them but they will be hit airborne and escape with less trouble. hence not very effective.
was thinking abt c.mp and delay s.hk might hit, but it will really change my thought process like i actually change my whole frame trap just to counter this tech.
i guess atm iāll just have to see whats going on and counter it if opponent are actually doing it by using a scrub trick such as walk up and grab/ far s.hk
Anyone use DF slide as part of their vortex? Iāve noticed it works nicely on people who abuse back dashes. Any additional strategies of when it should be implemented?
If they abuse backdashes, you can DF Palm OS Sweep. Not only youāll cover two options, but the thing wonāt be mad unsafe as the slide.
Speaking about it: was messing some time ago in training, if you make it hit with very very tip (and itās not that easy) even Ryuās Sweep canāt punish that (heāll still be able to Super your face, but oneād have to be mad to tried that against a Ryu with Super).
The thing is itād require a setup which creates max space between you and the target, but you opponent should not move forward or youāll get raped. But if you can set up something like this, you can pretty much forget about the horrible slide and go for the āstandardā vortex which is > 9000 times better.
Anyway, I like to use it from huge distance like once every 30 matches. Surprisingly enough it hits like 80 % of the time, and even when they block theyāre like āwhat just happened? Akuma has a slide?ā lol
