Huh? In AE, there are two sets of numbers for PP and BP. What is the second set? Why am I fighting guys with waaaaaaay more points than me if the skill level is set to “same”?
Ok, someone tell me what the fuck just happened in that combo video? Were these always possible with Akuma or is that tool assisted? WTF???
If it’s the same vid like the one on eventhubs…
Looks like AE Akuma’s hado gives so much more hitstun, that it is possible to link normals (and it looks like that because of practically no pushback even close normals like cl.st.HP connect) and even a FA Lvl 2 afterwards now.
I like it!
Yeah, I’m wondering about those 2nd set ot numbers as well. At one point, I thought it was the number of points needed to be able to save a replay to the replay channel, but now I’m not so sure.
I was just answering your 2nd question in my last post. In essence, the matchup filters are as fucked as they always were… Good job Capcom!
I’m pretty sure that combo only works vs crouching Chun, not sure why it’s possible, maybe it’s a weird hitstun glitch while she’s crouching or some other frame data related reason.
Here’s a very old Vanilla SFIV video of the combo done on Chun (glad I watched this a long time ago, otherwise I would have been too hyped about +6 fireballs on hit lol):
Yep, that seems to be the case. I went into training mode all giggedy and then I realized that it was too good to be true…
I have a question for you all. Where should I start my journey with Akuma? I was originally a ryu main until he got hit with the low forward nerf. That and I wanted to play a more fun, rushdown based character. I absolutely love Akuma’s mixups (from watching Tokido demonstrate them frequently), so I’ve decided that I’ll probably end up maining him. I can obviously execute all of his moves. After an hour or two, I’ve got down hit confirming from lk lp lk to lk lp cmp. I’ve tested out the majority if not all his normals and I figured that his cmp is an insanely good frame trap. I also know some general mixups and such with Akuma. However, I am still likely a beginner in the art of using Akuma. Could someone tell me where to go from there? Thanks.
P.S: How do you guys deal with linking cmp hp, jabs to hp, and tatsu after hp? It feels extremely weird for a ryu player who’s so used to linking everything from chp…
Ok guys, I need help. Yeah, its that time again.
Last night I had a huge blow to my confidence with Akuma. I played a 24-game set with a friend of mine who was using Fei-Long. Anyway, he beat me 8-0 when I used Akuma. All my ground pokes were beaten by his, it was relentless. I would definitely say that I played more “pro” than him by not mashing, using setups, and baiting properly. In fact, I think my pacing has improved ALOT to the point where I can convince someone I’m decent just by the way I move. Anyway, I can’t say he got lucky because it was 8-0. He also beat my Akuma with Guile, E. Ryu, and some other characters that he has BARELY used. My stats say I have used Akuma 450 times.
Then I used Rose, a character I have used 89 times (3rd most) and have invested only basic hours into. I went undefeated and managed to end the day at 12-12 after being slaughtered early on. For the life of me I can’t learn this damn character! There were some trends I noticed:
-
I DF divekick on wake-up after sweep, it NEVER crosses up. After block I would go for a cr.jab to setup a tick, he would ALWAYS get a reversal out before the jab would even come out. Isn’t the cr. jab safe? Therefore:** can I get help on making the DF divekick cross, please?**
-
The exploding heart technique has not been too helpful for me. Can someone give me a personal method or cue they use to make the DF divekick cross up during the exploding heart?

One of my problems is I rely on the DF Palm/Throw to advance forward. I’ve lost my faith in st.RH because the 2nd hit makes Akuma too vulnerable. My AA’ing with the SRK is too slow, and I trade with it too often so I’m not sure walking forward would work for me. So, any tips on getting in?
I desperately want to learn Akuma, but it seems like all signs are pointing to using Rose. Then again, I wanted to main Ken in HDR but ended up choosing Cammy just because “it worked”, and that made me a top XBL Cammy for a while. Fuck, I don’t know!

(P.S. Kudos to you if you actually read this hunk of shit I just wrote.)
How about walking? akuma has one of the fastest walkspeed in the game, and his sweep reaches really far.
vs feilong i dont bother playing too close, I just zone him. You can also time your divekicks so that they beat flamekicks clean. DF divekick crossup is too hard to do, stick to it to beat Fei’s dps only. DF palm beats his counter ultra (most feiliongs use that one vs akuma)
I need help with the best frame traps. Here are my common problems
- I will get jabbed/thrown out
- My normals will whiff cause i underestimated the ranges
- What I’m doing arent frame traps
So basically for 1, I will try to do a c.mp slight walk up or pause and another c.mp. It kind of relates to 3 where sometimes i will throw out random normals sometimes and improvise but its a gamble. I may or may not get a counterhit or eat a srk to the face and yeah…
2 is also a common problem where i try to do the frame trap i guess from too far away to start. So ill do a long range c.mp try to walk up real fast and do another or another normal and it will whiff and the other guy will be mashing whatever it is and ill get hit by that.
How to practice? After watching Tokido body everyone in top 8 at CEO with that crazy pressure i wish i could even do half of what he was. I keep fucking up.
Is there a list of all the characters that the second hit of fs.HK whiffs on while they’re crouching?
Yes, it’s in the matchup thread, first post.
question: mp srk got buffed, did fp srk get nerfed (invincibility wise)?
^ No, but mp SRK has more invincibility frames now. Its the go-to AA.
In other news, my Akuma play has gotten much more stable recently - finally winning matches. I think I’m beginning to understand the character alot more now. I had such a disastrous set the other day that it really dragged my morale down.
Don’t worry, you’ll have more… Disastrous sets that is! There’s always someone somewhere who just has your number, no matter what you do. And the worst part is that he won’t even be THAT good. You’ll know you can beat him. Heck, you probably will have beaten much better players before (or at least held your own). These are the types of matches that usually get me into trouble, because I know I can win, but it will take me 3-4 games to get his bullshit down. But by then I’ve lost so many points…
You mean MP SRK has more invincibility frames than HP SRK or just more than it used to have before? Because IIRC the MP SRK buff was to 5 frames of invinicbility only, HP SRK has 6.
It has 1 less iframe than HP SRK, but it rarely hits less than twice making it easier to get damage from an AA SRK.
is it just me, or did the stand HK link after a counterhit cr MP get a loooot easier? it feels like a 2-3 frame link now.
Also, ex-tatsu corner setups into srk arent reliable anymore.
I used to use a hitconfirm to make sure they ended up into the corner.
now alot of the times the opponent stays at the same side of the tatsu for 2 hits which fucks up the direction in which they go.
Didnt ever happen to me in choco sf4
