Akuma Combos, Strategies, and Match-ups!

Does anyone here play with SA3? Any combos to contribute?

I can usually get lk tatsu -> SA3 which looks so damn cool.

I think its the range you get the c.mk. If its at its max range, it has a tendency to drop them. I think…

sometimes just the knee hits and not the second hit so you can’t juggle. I think it might be kinda random

It’s dependent on height (and hit box of course). Too early and you’re fucked; too late and they don’t bounce up high enough for the third tatsu. Perhaps you have enough time to react to this and do a dash-up shoryu instead.

what are some safe tactics to use after reset? demon flip? tatsu?

I also have a hell of a time trying to cancel c.mk into srk. Ive always had a rough time doing it. yet I can do c.mk into demon flip pretty consistently.

After you get reset or after you reset them? In either case, be more specific

I only know about resets after Akuma’s lk hurricane, but here they are anyway.

HP:
Dash HP
Demonflip kick or slide kick

MK:
Cancel into demonflip kick
If you demon flip after MK recovers, you can go for the throw

LP:
Super

Useful combos
Lk hurricane:
HP shory (good damage, easy to time)
LP srk xx SA I (xx lp srk in corner) you can follow up with an extra super lp srk, but I don’t think it’s worth the meter
LP HK Hurricane (does less damage than ending with HP SRK and throws enemy further away from you, but gives you a large amount of frame advantage. Use in the corner when you can taunt because you have enough advantage to taunt safely)

After being reset is pretty character specific. Sometimes teleport is a viable option (Urien), and other times you just have to base the decision on the player/character/situation. Makoto wants a command grab, so that’s what you’ll be looking out for, while Chun is probably going for another super, or just some painful meaty. The way to avoid those 2 situations is mutually exclusive. If you can get specific, I can be more helpful. I’m not gonna type out what to do for every reset situation in the game.

As for resets you’ll be doing, you’re mainly looking at hp, or cr.jab. hp either leads into another demon flip, or just a typical mix up situation (either go low, high, or kara throw). cr.jab after a lk tatsu lets you cross under them with a dash, so you’d want to go for a hit confirm into super or something.

Here’s something I discovered yesterday, I don’t think it’s useful but always good to know:

You can also Instant Air SAI after the LP for a Reset combo, only difference with “normal” reset is that it’s harder to parry and does more damage, in fact it’s one of the most damaging things to do after a LK Hurricane iirc

I don’t know if you guys already know this but you can actually wait a bit before doing the Raging Demon.

It would be like this, lp,lp, wait a bit , f+lk, hp

And I noticed that you can actually press f+lk, hp at the same time and the RD will still come out.

^ thats the basis of the whole jump in attack, walk forward - activate demon strategy. Hope you know what I’m talking about.

I actually like using cr. lk walk up demon. It seems to work some of the time, especially when people are trying to tech throws.

It’s not a combo though, just an execution trainer let’s say; and you can replace :df: by :r:

My first super, I had alot of fun with it.

lk tatsu > SA3 is good, but the timing is relatively strict, so I prefer lk tatsu > lp (reset) > SA3. They can parry, but at least it’s alot easier to do.
Also air hurricane, land > SA3. cr. lk cr. lp > SA3, cr. mk > SA3 (gotta be close). great anti-air, good for the random wake up super.
