Crossup tatsu can be done with any kick, I use HK for a few reasons.
Execute HK tatsu slightly after the apex of your jump. Positioning is such that if you didn’t tatsu, you’d hit deep with a normal jump-in.
muken, you’re the man. saw your post when it first came out. decided to give it a try this evening. i have to say, it really helped by providing a way to work on incorporating combo changes based on cpu ambiguity (e.g., on hit, do this. on block, do this). thx man
oh, ps - appreciate your guidance above regarding tatsu cross ups. i haven’t been incorporating them much b/c i haven’t felt comfortable with the spacing. your description above was insightful. thx
Glad these have been of help to people:)
I might be gearing towards heavy Akuma practice as a new main, these definitely look like worthwhile training exercises. Thanks for devising these ^_^.
Thanks for the training exercises MuKen.
I think you made a mistake with the “HP tatsu”. I’ve been able to do the MK/HK tatsu and letting the last kick hit and recovering fast enough to do the HP srk. Does anybody know if it’s possible to hit twice and still do the SRK, because it seems like you can only hit once as you have to recover fast enough to follow up with a HP srk.
Fixed, thanks.
And yes, you can SRK after two hits, but the SRK will only hit once.
I found these drills extremely useful, should be stickied or something.
Thanks Muken.
Perfect for the beginners needing guidance. +rep MuKen if you can, lord knows he deserves it.
I have been recently doing all my BnBs with cr.MK instead of cr.MP. Firstly it means I can actually hit Blanka without reduced damage, secondly if I can link cr.MK out of far.HK then cr.MP is a piece of cake against other characters.
This is awesome and is really helping me with hit confirming.
Thank you.
Pretty awesome post, I’ll definitely be trying this.
Agreed, great stuff, should definitely be stickied.
I’m pretty sure I repped you MuKen when I had premo.
Good shit here though. Very helpful.
I’ve been trying out the crouching medium kick into the fierce hadouken, but can some explain me in what situation I should use it? is it primarily zoning tool?
At max range, the hadouken can be blocked, or you could eat a reversal with i frames… don’t overuse it at max range, it’s not as good as Ryu’s… you can still poke with crMK but it wouldn’t be wise to overdo it against a character with better footsies (Balrog) or Ryu since Ryu’s crMK has more active frames than your crMK does… so keep that in mind. Against characters with poor footsies like Sagat/Seth/Viper it’s a good tool, just remember that it isn’t very effective at max range because the fireball movement speed isn’t quite like Ryus. If you use crMK at max range, don’t necessarily follow up with hadoken… although against characters with poor mobility it will probably be alright.
This amazing Muken, am just starting out with Akuma and these exercises are superb.
