Nobody plays Wei nowadays? =/ At least someone is maining Blitztank.
Nice. I think I saw the tutorials before, but not these match vids.
I’ll try to make it to the chatroom tonight. If you’re willing to take the risk to play someone from FARRRRRR away for some games, then I’m your man. If not, I’d be looking forward to meet the lot of you in text form only.
btw make sure to check out the newer match vids for my account, all the matches that aren’t against chibi, zar, or rithli or someone i played on ec are pretty crappy
i personally am going to bed now but the channel’s quite active right now
How far away are we talking
damn, need more Australians/NZers playing this
As far as Saudi Arabia, my friend.
Like I said, if the improved netplay is as similar to GGPO or 2df, I’d have no trouble at all with locals, Europeans and some parts of Asia (like Pakistan), maybe even a few from the US/Canada (though I wasn’t so lucky playing SFIV with Alter, but that didn’t have GGPO/2df netcode). No success with folks from Japan, China or Australia, though.
I’m in the U.S, midwest. I play Sai, Adler and Akatsuki.
wow I finally got to play MC and some other folks, the new netplay really helps
It is not similar, it is a lot worse. You can forget about playing US, at least WC. EC is a maybe too. Personally I don’t find games at 4 delay acceptable.
Its still good though, way better than the original netplay (way way way x n)

Pretty good Blitz matches; these players really show how sick the mind games in Blitz can get.
^Man, those were some great matches. Never seen shit like that before!
I should copy-paste some of their strategies.
lol, that’s rather disheartening. But expected, I guess.
I’m more hyped after watching this than I am already, that’s for sure.
Jiyuna’s troll is 1/10 due to old content, but it does raise another common point of contention:
"Blitz is all RPS, reflectors are too strong and scrubs can beat pros because they’re too easy to do. There’s no real rhythm to the game, it’s all randomness.
Reflectors are actually weaker than 3S parries due to whiff animation and forced auto-counter. The auto-counter is also not infallible; it has startup which can be baited and punished just like everything else.
All fighters boil down to RPS at some point, Blitz is more upfront about it because its entire gameflow was designed around RPS, so the game becomes focused upon baits and reads, as well as proper spacing so you can easily stack the odds in your favor when it comes to potential outcomes of a point of conflict.
RPS can be hype. Haven’t you ever seen Kaiji?
Doesn’t the reflector itself have startup, preventing it from beating meaty attacks?
No, you can reflect meaty attacks. But you can’t reflect backwards-facing attacks so you can’t reflect crossups, thus you can’t reflect meaty crossups.
The part that has startup is the “reflector attack”. So you “can” reflect meaty jump-ins too, but very deep meaty jump-ins will land before your reflector attack can hit them, so they can just land and block/reflect your reflector attack.
Unfortunately the terminology is kind of problematic. Personally I think there should be an easy way to define the difference between:
Because the differences sort of matter in some situations. Like yesterday when there was a discussion about dealing with Aka’s DP reversal.
If there is startup to the actual reflector parry then it’s an invulnerable startup, because reflecting meaties is possible (you just can’t reflect crossups). I think I remember there being a window of throw-invulnerability in the reflector parry, but I don’t remember if that’s correct or not.
LIVES ON THE LINE MAN!
To add to this: if you’re reflecting a multi-hit attack and the opponent changes sides, I believe you stop reflecting as well.
Typically I just call it “reflector”, “autocounter”, “whiffed reflector”, and “whiffed autocounter”.
I believe you are throw invulnerable during hitstop. We never confirmed this but it’s what it feels like, since it’s possible to reverse out of a reflect even if the other guy is mashing throw, and most of the time during the reflect animation is spent in hitstop from what I can tell.
Yeah the thing is that it rarely (almost never) comes up in an actual match. But I vaguely remember it being discussed and I vaguely remember it happening to me. But to be fair I also don’t know how much throw invulnerability there is on wakeup or coming off hitstun/blockstung. So, an exact number would be a good idea even if that number is zero. But the ways that I can think of to test it are inefficient w/e. Some one should probably check the Japanese wiki or something?
Regarding the hitstop invulnerability, same thing. I can think of ways to test it but they are not efficient or precise. We can assume you are but that raises other questions, like how soon can two attacks be spread apart that you’ll reflect both, or
^ wow that brings back memories. i forgot how dope this game was when everyone was netplaying. i haven’t played fgs online in a while but imma break out some blitz today.
I played it a little bit last night after doing some of my schoolwork and it left a pretty positive impression. At first glance it actually reminds me a lot of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, but it’s mixed with a lot of third strike. It feels very solid overall; I especially like the reflector.
I can’t decide if I like Akatsuki or Kanae better.
