I personally hate the concept of killing X amount of Y to get Z% change to get an item so you can complete a quest. Is this present in Aion?

personally i dont think the grind is all that bad. i played diablo 2 1.10 patch, where it literally took forever to gain a level after 90. the xp penalty was like 99.9% or something, so you only got .1% of a monsters xp. if aion is considered a “bad” grind, then wow all the other MMOs must be on some easy mode bullshit.
aion grind is fun, but then again i’m asian. i like to optimize by having a book so i can read while healing up between fights. i also have dual monitors so sometimes i watch hulu on the side.
but to answer you question, yes you get the generic kill dudes to get their bandanas, which have a 1% chance of dropping, and turn those bandanas in, quests.
this is where i stopped reading and started to Fap intensely.

I just saw the new trailer and I am tempted to resubscribe. I like the new combat system but I think this trailer is just jerking me along. I like the dino mount, new epic quest, but I think the trailer MIGHT be all hype.

Need some tips from those saying “if you’re ranged and xp’ing normally, you’re doing it wrong” type of comments.
I’ve gone through Aion Armory quest database, and done every quest possible (minus Campaign quests), and doesn’t net half a level.
I’m a 36 Elyos Ranger. Have looked through the Grind Optimizer, but man that thing is way off base it seems. Best I have come across so far, is grinding on 38/39 mobs in upper Abyss close to Elyos owned artifact points. Still end up getting ganked by 50’s quite a bit, so looking for something more safe.
WTB more equipment variety in this game. Loot is pretty stale imo.

btw heres something fun you can do to level without healer and tank, works pretty much anywhere you have kitable elites.
gladiator and sorc required
basically glad pulls mob with tiger shot or provoke, sorc casts a snare, everyone else chase the mob and beat on it while the glad runs in circles (never getting hit) while spamming tiger shot + provoke. do it right and the exp is probably greater than or equal to a normal party, plus you dont have to put up with finicky healer types. its also fun to watch people try to copy you and fail.

am i the only one who thinks that the big “epic” 40 v 40 fights in the abyss are boring? heres what happens. one side hides behind the guards. the other side stays behind their guards. both sides stare at each other for a really long time. a couple salty ones set up shops. both groups inch forward slowly, maybe uselessly peppering the other side with a few ranged attacks that dont do any damage. a few stragglers move forward on both sides, straying too far from the herd. one idiot goes too far, scorpion throws a spear “GET OVER HERE”, the idiot gets eaten for breakfast, rinse and repeat. in the roughly 30 minutes i wasted on this spectacle before i idiotically strayed too far from the herd and died, i could’ve been solo grinding peacefully in belusan.
speaking of which solo is the best. pickup groups wipe all the fucking time. with friends its fine. we can 2 or 3 man lots of shit cause we stick with the game plan. but pickup groups are a disaster. dying wastes time money and xp. i hate dying. i never die while solo. since i work a lot i gotta maximize my time, and grouping with a bunch of strangers in mist mane is not a good use of time. wish i could play more, its taken two weeks to get through level 37, and i’m still 2 mill away from 38 :sad:
