So, now as the thread calmed down a bit, I may ask again some questions i’ve been asking myself the last weeks:
Gen: Is Gen able to jump over a standing Hugo?
Ibuki: Is Ibukis Vortex (outside of DWU) going to work on Hugo? Since he is so tall, that may screw up her crossup kunai, meaning it ends up crossup always?
Viper: Vipers cr. mk superjump to crossup burnkick, is it going to work against a standing hugo? Or is the jump not able to crossup? Seeing how it just barely flys over Sagats head, i believe it could be possible that it wont crossup on hugo
I’m far more curious if HAKAN can jump over a standing Hugo lol. Gen should be able to do it in at least one of his stances. I seriously wonder if Hakan can do it though, as it is Hakan has trouble getting over Thawk unless he is like right next to him.
But tradition is based on consistency. It’s basically the same argument.
Yeah, I imagine that Hugo simply has no pushbox on his head at all.
I wonder if SF5 will tie together SF4 and SF3 storyline so we finally find out what mad scientist hit Hugo with a shrink ray causing him to lose 6 inches in height between SF4 and SF3 (I got bored and scaled up an image of Chun li standing next to Hugo in 3S and in SFxT and if you scale the Chun’s to match Hugo is clearly around 6inches taller in SFxT than in SF3 and his hands are like twice the size XD)
The following video is really worth watching, it’s got two matches of Hugo vs Guile.
Not gonna bother time stamping different parts because there’s quite a lot of stuff.
here’s a summary.
d,d+K passing through guile SLOW sonic boom (now i’m convinced it’ll go through the list of fireballs i mentioned in an earlier post), it also shows why d,d+K might not be a good idea even when it does pass through it.
f+HP as anti-air (as designed) it doesn’t knock the guy back to the wall like in the beta test, it gives a hard knockdown though (it was confirmed when Guile did delayed wake up)
ex meat squasher? or ex lariat getting hit by a one hit sonic boom and armor didn’t work, I’m honestly really confused by this because both the startup animation looks the same, my guess is ex meat squasher can’t go through fireball despite having armor. You can see later on ex lariat absorbing sonic boom. This is really confusing since I don’t think there’s another move with properties where the armor can’t absorb fireball but can absorb regular hits.
good use of empty neutral jumping and immediately blocking on the way down and neutral jumping splash.
super beating out sonic boom (dont’ think this was done on reaction…)
Let’s just say, an insomniac has a lot of time on his hands but not enough mental aptitude to be doing things that require fast reactions like actually playing the game. So instead I just do stupid shit like that when I’m reaching around the 30 hour mark.
Bloody hell, this is why they kicked super > back breaker damage in the teeth.
Hugo has so many solid tools at his disposal, it’s hard for me to believe how so many people can underestimate him so badly
Talking about that, his cr.Hk, has anyone verified if it retained its 3rd strike properties? As in changing from an overhead to a low dependant upon the range it was used from?
I HIGHLY doubt crHK has that given that it didn’t have anything like that in SFxT. It does however cause a hard knockdown and appears to be airborne either on 1F or 2F. Of course it’s also got crazy dumb amounts of recovery. Seriously they should tone down the recovery a smidge, make it like… -12 on block not -30 or whatever.
Also it’d be pretty awesome if crHP (the uberman!) was an armor breaking normal move XD
