Yeah notice the meter too that’s a good thing because his super is game changer and depending on button it’s invincible to different moves.
As for meat squasher having armor, it does but not towards the end when he goes for the grab and the grab is activated if the opponent is close enough whether she’s in the air or on the ground or even grounded. I watched the video that seems like he didn’t have armor but if you watch closely he does or it’s because Juri was next to him in the air
Actually no it’s not on HK version it just comes out so high up that it whiffs naturally vs crouching opponents (unless they extend their hurtbox with an attack like a crHP.) however seeing as you can hit even Akuma while standing using a HK Fuhajin I wouldn’t be surprised if HK version could hit a crouching Hugo. Same deal with the EX version of that fireball FYI.
2:57 this has happened on numerous occasions, just what is Hugo’s backbreaker? because it’s not a grab, grabs can’t trade, and I don’t like the idea of trades not doing any damage. tbh I feel it should be something that flat out beats jump attacks plus its an EX, but maybe it would be too OP?
Shows dd+mk going through poisons fireball. This probably means it’s gonna go through a lot more than just juri and Sagat low fireball.
My guess is it can go through everyone’s fireball with exception to Sagat high tiger shot, goukens any fireball (because even the regular one hits higher), juris fireball other than the low ones, and maybe Seth’s but not sure about this one.
That s.MP restand was posted early in the thread during a silly gameplay/glitch showcase of Hugo. I’m not sure what this is good for besides taking on extra damage to Meatsquasher, depend on the frame advantage of s.MP on hit and spacing afterwards. If it’s heavily + on hit then I can see myself going for it a lot, but otherwise I’d rather have the knockdown. What would be interesting is if you could get it to work with a cancelable normal like s.LK. Then you could get some real mixup going… meat squasher into meat squasher, train them to jump and do delay LK Lariat to interrupt their jump away and juggle off it… It all depends tho.
Does anyone have any idea the frame data behind his Ultra throw? I’ve seen hugos empty jump to ultra throw, which seems to be pretty hard to do if it had a lot of startup frames

it’s also confirmed that Hugo got top tier stun hurt box lol, above at around 2:06:55 he got stunned immediately mashed out of it T-Hawk whiffed two times and by the third time he’s out of stun and punished back LOL
around 2:15:30 Hugo did whiffed super into SPD lol… it doesn’t seem like he meant to do it on purpose… but i wonder if there’s a command not throw out the punch because it’ll mean you might be able to get super (whiff) into Ultra 1 lol
2:46:19 Hugo vs Dhalsim, Dhalsim player isn’t that good, Hugo s.HP beat Dhalsim s.HP by absorbing hit then hitting his stretched arms with elbow
Man, the Dhalsim at 2:46:19 was CLEARLY outclassed and STILL won vs Narou’s Hugo. That MU is looking pretty damn horrible still. Seems like the only chance a good Hugo vs a good Sim would have is: Don’t get cornered and do a near-psychic super on reaction to a fireball throw. At least Sim’s sMK builds a fairly good amount of meter for Hugo on block
I don’t think Naruo knew that ex lariet has 2 hits of armor, there were so many times during that fight where I read sim hitting a button and thought “If he just ex lariet’d it would hit him”

Another example is d,d+mk avoiding fireball there’s several instances where I felt would be a good opportunity to try that out instead of neutral jumping,
He also didn’t know a good follow up if he’s too close to the wall and use ultra throw. Other Hugo I’ve seen will just directly do an auto correct back breaker
You also never see him attempt to use s.lk or c.lk xx lk/ex lariat or super which there’s several instances he could’ve done
From watching the videos it worries me that Hugo splash hurt box is so big when he’s doing after spd follow by a dash ryu seems like he can do a normal hp Dp and hit his legs without trading
