May be because he forgot that the only problem with MvC3… is him.
Because this:
is stupid flamebait at the very very best.
Go reread the MVC3 forum rules, especially the part about “speak for yourself, not for other people.” Any time we’re referring to a mysterious surly “them”, God kicks a kitten to death.
Flip his argument around the other way and it’s just as stupid. I don’t care if you’re a fan or … non-fan of MvC3: speak for yourself.
It’s definitely too soon to say. I tried to love this game, but the systems in place and the damage you can do with such ease really ended up turning me off to it. And the funny thing is, I didn’t really get turned off cause I got bodied too hard, but because I’d get bodied pop xfactor and win. I’d actually feel bad like I didn’t deserve the win at all. Guess I’m weird… I dunno.
Just my side of the story here:
Yes, 3 is a worthy sequel to 2. No, it isn’t the same game and it doesn’t feel like a successor to it. But we’re in a new age of games. It was toned down as far as execution goes. But lets be honest, in 2 we had the same damage output in the long run. A storm dhc to sent would kill everyone etc.
As far as chip being too good in this, does anyone recall any of clockw0rks matches where he has 3 bars and gets you to block? Anyone remember when storm would runaway almost untouchable and use hailstorm?
It was part of the game that hardcore players adjusted to and loved. People are shitting on 3 because it’s not a replica of 2, no matter how much it’s obvious that the games are similar.
Why doesn’t anyone point out the good fixes, no more guardbreaks ring a bell, how about unblockables? Because Sentinel doing 2h as an unblockable into rocket punch drones 5 times was really a show of a player “paying his training mode tax”.
Really guys, until you’re on the level that Justin is on right now, you honestly know very little about the games mechanics and what/when to do. He’s lightyears ahead of everyone, and he’s over crying about sentinel - the same way that everyone else will in a few months or however else long it takes to catch up.
And don’t go saying another justin rider, because honestly i dislike justin, but as a player, he’s really inspiring in 3. Not so much in other games.
So do you guys think this game will get an EX version(like MvC1 on ps1) after the DLC’s, or will they intend to compensate this game with many patches?
This game is insanely fun. However, if you take it seriously you will hate life. I really have stopped giving a shit and this game is much more enjoyable.
Most believe there’ll be some sort of Gold Edition for MVC3 at some point.
I honestly think the game will only be updated through patches and DLC stuff, but we’ll see.
for all the scrubs still complaining about failing to connect in ranked match, it has being said a million times that you can do it in arcade/training mode with fight alert on.
The user and all related content has been deleted.
Didn’t Seth mention that the license was for one disc release only?
That’s a good point.
a fact that has been repeatedly endlessly by me, but no one listens lol
i feel this way too.
See? I’m not the only one who thinks your infractions are unwarrented. I’m honestly getting tired of you trying to play the ‘tough’ moderator, picking out the most appropriate butt-monkey (me) and making an example. I have gone back and checked the rules, and a lot of the time still was left scratching my head as to why I was infracted in the first place.
You can twist it around as much as you like, and choose to ignore the very apparent (I should hope) satire in my posts, but it does seem like (and I use the term ‘seem like’ here, so that I am not ‘speaking for anyone’ just speculating) the older players are always going to subconciously reject newer games. Looking at trends, it becomes a definate possibility that old school fans are becoming harder to please and that many newer fighting games are not embraced openly at day 1 because they are either too different to what these players are used to, or deemed ‘scrub worthy’ due to not being ‘hard enough’. Like back in the day, when you only got to have one lolly pop a year, and it was covered in dust and grit and flavorless, and black as coal, etc.
I am just annoyed with the constant influx of threads asking such stupid questions like ‘is this game a worthy sequel to mvc2?’ and so on, when for the most part the community has been given just about everything they asked for. Anyone who’d been here for much of the hype-build-up prior to the release of MvC3 (and I am once agian choosing my words very carefully here, to avoid ‘speaking for others’ ) would have noticed the general reaction to be ‘we want this game to be broken like mvc2. the more retarded it is, the better!’ and look what we got! A very broken game. X-factor? Awesome! you can cancel supers into supers. Then the game hits, and suddenly it’s too broken and x-factor is bad. Why was this system encouraged right up to the day of release, through many builds, only to be slammed? The game is pretty broken and crazy, but now seems that it’s a broken that everyone can enjoy, not just a select group of players. Surely I can’t be the only one who is a little pissed off about the way the community has done a sudden heel-turn the moment the game dropped?
also, another thing: why is it that people now act as if online is this game’s big ‘main’ feature? The online is a tag-on extra, and online has never really been a great way to play these kinds of fighters anyway. You’re always going to have some input lag and so on.
I can agree with the complete turn of the community. I have been following mvc3 since june. People got sentinel “aw yea we got sent, time for the tears etc.” but now people who use 2 say that are right along with the people they were teasing.“we want broken shit, thats how mahvel should be” then we get" WTF CRAPCOM,FIX THIS BROKEN SHIT!!!". But what makes me laugh is how Marvel 2 players(who I have respect for) were able to say “lol deal with it scrubs” when it came to talking about the metagame and how it’s ran at high level, but mvc3 everything is brushed off with “lol scrubs” “shit is 2 random”. It’s like all the rules changed now that mvc3 is out.
I think I’m the only one who thanks god for Capcom for adding in Lvl. 3 X-factor. Getting two characters killed from one bad call is not fun, comparable to getting double snapped and losing that good assist (not as much, though), but it keeps you in the running for the win. One for one if you know what I mean. This analogy sounds stupid I know.
Stupid broken thing countered with more stupid broken things, kind of makes sense. And of course, in Marvel we really like broken things. I now realize their way of thinking on this one.
Also, do we have a cohesive list of the x-factor levels for each character (damage and speed wise)?
Truth.
This, seriously.
I mean, I respect fanatiq, but before release, I saw him (unless it was someone impersonating him in a stream chat; feel free to correct me) talking about how bad reactionary patches would be and that everyone has to “let the game grow.” That phrase was thrown around so much by MvC2 vets pre-release. Now he has a thread with a laundry list of what “needs” to be changed if the game is going to survive for 2 years, or how great system direction would be so that players could pick and choose what rules they wanted to follow instead of accepting the game as it is (which would inevitably lead to endless disagreements on what the “best” rules for the game would be).
It’s just been a constant, pervasive mantra of “deal with it” from players who seem to have been dealt something they don’t want to deal with themselves and are now walking back on their words. It started out funny, but it’s kind of getting old.
I understand that you can connect though the training mode but its scrubby as fuck that we have to use a secondary system just to join online matches, it is annoying as fuck.
I don’t know any of those people. Everybody around here laps up new games. Maybe Seattle is just awesome.
Me too, but ProTip: don’t post in threads you don’t want to keep going. It’s easier/wiser to lock a thread with no responses than to be interventionist and lock a thread with 140 responses.
I seem to recall lots of feedback/insight earlier wherein people got shouted down as Only Wanting MvC2.1!!!1! and then the game came out and the same shit that people asked for was annoying and now you’re repeating the same braindead You Only Wantz MvC2.1!!!1! OGs Are Hard To Please!!!1! rants. That’s why I stopped coming into this forum: assclowns were getting away with that kind of shit. Hi, I’m a mod now! You’re generally not going to get away with telling me what I want, and I’m not going to get away with telling you what you want. Sometimes when you criticize a game, it’s because you have criticisms of that game. Same thing with fawning upon a game: MVC3 has a lot of Amazing going on, but it’s way more interesting to talk about YOUR opinions. People that want to hate upon it should not be in this forum.
FWIW, you were infracted previously for this exact same kind of thing: Unless you are touched in the head, it is disingenuous to imply that all of a sudden you don’t know to not do it. Stop doing it. Speak for yourself.
Online is amazing in MvC2, laggy as it is.
On topic, the game is an amazing evolution and I’m hoping that at some point there’s a MvC4 (or 3++), because this is a really interesting new baseline to work from.
