Double posting is gross, especially when you only press the button once!
oh maybe next thursday i’ll go request that day off or something
You can still crouch tech kara throws, it’s just harder because
- The frame window to tech the throw is smaller because you’re crouch teching instead of stand teching
- Teching a kara throw requires you to tech it just a bit later than a usual throw
Those things combined can throw off your timing. You just have to get used to it.
Anyone trying to roll to the Dojo today for some practice?
When it comes to dealing with Ken’s kara throw I learned a new way to get out without having to guess a near (2-3 frame) perfect crouch or having to guess a dangerous (20 frame recovery) stand tech and get baited. After getting bodied by Ken throw setups on main stage kinda had to find a way out, Counter ultra super useful to prevent safe jumps but pressure can still be applied. So far I’ve been succesful with this against some top level kens in America.
As long as you are not in the corner just focus backdash. Problem solved. In the corner just backdash constantly, worst comes to worse and you get reset. Don’t do it immediately but after the first blocked move in the corner. that way the next one resets rather they get a free hitconfirm.
Anyways, is the dojo really open super early on Thursday? There is alot of stuff I would like to work the kinks out in some of my cammy stuff and a few long sets (FT10s) that’d I like to see the response of (many different) players to these situations to adapt playstyle mid match. One of my bigger problems is if I adapt to my opponent it is often too late and this right now is my attempted solution. This is more of a measuring stick, effective yet easily counter able and would like to see if I can use my “counters to counters” effectively.
Trust, I got tricks. I only watched the gamerbee matches I saw at the event. And even then, he wasn’t doing anything new.
Safe jump set ups off almost everything that knocks down, one bar ambiguos cross up ultra set ups. keke you haven’t seen anything yet. Sim doesn’t have to worry so much though, he’s pretty good against adon. Full screen > adon all day
Frost, hit me up! 425 205 3100.
Adaptation? Jah mon.
tricks only get you so far, solidity is where it’s at, Gamerbee had tricks but he was mostly using things that were generally safe in their situations, like safe jumps. Adapting is where my mind is, still working on defense, but mostly looking towards trying to read my opponent. Recently I have some success in it adapting pretty late and sometimes edging out wins,
Carlos, we need to play soon. Today for that matter. Your mind seems to be in the right place for this game now more than ever. Evo will do that though.
I went into using adon trying to focus on defense and adapation, but forgot to learn all the offensive mind games and tricks. In the end, you need both. Being solid gets you far, but is predictable. Being solid and adapting, while constantly changing so your opponent can’t adapt is what I’m trying achieve. Basically, I’m trying to be water.
Spike? Evo has made me step my game up a bit more, I’d like to play you guys at the dojo tomorrow or something.
You guys are going to GC today, right? Maybe we can meet up a little early for some practice?
I’m off at 4:30 and will be there at 5. I’d be down to play a few while there though.
Eric- Spike is where I heard it first, Dug is where I heard it last. Either way, it’s always a good mind set.
Oh riki, don’t think I don’t have tricks, gimmicks get me hype in this game, but I understand what it takes to win LONG term.
RESET DEMON??!!??!?!
Cole- I am always down to eat whatever, so count me in.
I am also trying to come early tomorrow and get long sets in. I am going to take a break from Blanka because I fucking hate him and after playing different characters I realize he doesn’t fit my playstyle at all. I am deciding if I want to play Cody or Adon right now…
You should try Chun, I feel that she will help balance out any issues you might have with Blanka. You already know how to do charge and mash moves very well and with your level of execution and normal usage, she shouldn’t be too tough to pick up. Also, she’s top tier.
I think the biggest trick was how you said you were dropping adon because Bison was the best character in the game…pre-EVO. Welcome to the bandwagon again riki NYUK NYUK NYUK. I kid I kid <3 <3 <3
Cody has an extremely fun and buff set of normals, but prepare for hell when you get knocked down or rushed down. This would be okay because you have amazing defense (I got 100x better at teching throws and general defense when I played him). His walk speed is frustrating, prepare to have a hell of a time catching mobile characters who will just run trains around you. Runaway Ibuki comes to mind. Your only reversal is a negative edge - hella awkward. Also this reversal is painfully easy to safe jump or safe jab and since it’s not safe on block you’re in trouble. What’s your other choice - backdash? Oh it goes about as far as Fuerte’s, without being as fast as Fuerte’s. So you’re still in the danger zone.
Outside of that, Cody is tight. Well he’s tight anyway but those are just things to keep in mind. It gets irritating playing characters who abuse the shit out of Cody’s flaws. He’s fun though.
yes those dates of the dojo are solid. 12 noon open doors!!!
bokkin - I can help you with adapting quickly during match play. That is one of the prime skills that set Elite from amateurs. You add that to your game and you will start to truly be scary. Cause right now…just to critique, i never fear u in tourney cause i know i just have to discover how to get around your new trick/setup/option select and then its game over. You have to start changing it up and think 3 or 4 steps ahead of your opponent. You should WANT them to get out of your set up so you can get them with something even more deadly.
See everyone this thursday. Pizza it is, gonna be simple this week.
J-Cole
