just dedicate one set up (i’d suggest the projector) for a ft5, 2 on 2 off setup only, and have a way for people to put themselves up on the queue. And keep all the other setups for tournament only till we get to what top 8?
having a dedicated setup for people to play on is crucial imo for everyone to level up. and the ft5 2 on 2 off seems to be the best way for everyone to get games in, and to learn matchups, and to just disect what’s going on instead of a one game situation or even a 2 out of 3.
Well, the people that never get the chance to play other people just don’t ask. Also, I thought that’s what the ranking chart is for - for people to level up and try to get to the top of the ladder.
Yea, if we do teams, money is a must unlike last time (that’s why it didn’t finish I suspect…), same price per person as per singles ($5) - winner take all.
No, you can’t really ask people to play sets while we’re running a tourney. Casuals get kicked off after like a round.
That’s what this is. The round robin is the new ladder.
I prefer the sets idea fiercely~ I don’t even like tourneys or feel like I learn during the fights. At least this far into the game. Sets are different and I personally learn a ton. Should defo do this one way or another.
I like the idea of having the Projection screen as a main FT5 2 on/2 off rule. Then the cab and all the other set ups can easily run whatever event we have.
Next week im going with a team round robin tourney. 2 man teams. Will be good practice for tourney wars.
BTW MikeHasCookies, I challenge you foo!! =P next time is see you, its ON!!! You better fight jared fast or lose that change to get out of bracket 3 muahaha
let me add another layer of depth to this discussion.
Sets are cool. but sets take up a LOT of time. When 20+ people show up on thrusdays, our responsibilities at the dojo are to accomadate people and make sure things are fair. a first to 5 set can take a long time. around 20-30 mins. how would you guys solve the following problems.
make sure people have access to play. reguardless of skill level.
make sure a bossy person (or group of people) doesnt hog the session machine.
the simplest answer is to have a setup set up to arcade style as well. This is of course when you get down to top 8 in the tournament. If the ft5 2 on 2 off setup going while the tournament is running is good for those that go 2 and out, cause they will have time to go and work on their game. Obviously a rule would have to be you can’t play on the ft5 setup until you are knocked out of the tournament. I’m sure the last thing you’d want to see is a bottleneck because 2 ppl in 2 different matches are playing on the ft5 setup.
if you guys can find a way to have a sign up sheet (maybe part of the white board?) You can just have ppl write their names on the list, and once you play you have to wait at least 2 turns before you can play another ft5…cause I know I’d try to be hella slick and set up a match right after I won or lost =D, having a place to let ppl know the queue would help prevent ppl from jumping on the machine again right after they play.
Of course if the people or persons that are next in line don’t come up to play they would lose their spot…
I’m working/living in downtown Seattle for the summer, and I would like to stop by the dojo sometime. Can anyone give me some information on how/if I can rely on public transit for visiting? Or is there a better/more convenient locale I should try?
Public Transit is doable(i do it), but because of the way buses run in Sammamish, you have to spend the night and leave in the morning. So it would probably be best to do it on Thursday, when people are there hella late anyway.
I will be there early to set the stream up. If anyone has any experience streaming and has any tips on getting the best quality let me know or show up to Coles.
