Actually those ARE the ways I practice it. But I also wanted a moving target. To make sure I don’t choke in the heat of battle.
Zakbg, I wish i had a friend : (

Is RFD even streaming? The website says nothing.
Only way I know how to keep from choking in the heat of battle is to constantly go into battle. It would be awesome if the training AI played somewhat like a human, but alas, that’s not an available option.
Yeah they are, took FOREVER to find the link. It was in the upcoming tournament forum, which i’ve never used before.
When is the stream starting ? And the tournament ? What time does it say there ? It should be 2 hours early for them , NL is close to Bulgaria (my country)
There will be a bulgarian representing us !! LOL, I doubt he’s gonna go far though , I’m the best bulgarian player as far as I’ve seen , His name is Arasmus
Alright so here’s the deal, I played a ton of Street Fighter IV when it dropped, and even more SSIV when that came out. I stopped months before AE and haven’t really touched it since.
There has been a revitalization of love for SF within my circle of friends, and after weathering the onslaught of games coming out this month and the next, were all going to pick up AE when 2012 hits.
Whenever I return to a fighting game I like to pick a new main just to have a fresh perspective on everything. Vanilla I mained Honda, Super was Dudley. Now my sights are set on Makoto.
My question is this: What should I focus on learning that I won’t have to throw out the window when AE drops, or do I need to just bite the bullet and buy AE now?
I’ll re-answer. Mak isn’t changing very much in v.2012. None of her current strats are going away. In fact, we have a new toy to play with in 2012 when her TC1 becomes special cancelable, so you may want to start playing with that in preparation for the new patch.
Much appreciated, Nuts.
Actually Nuts my friend i think you missed the point
He played SUPER… he never played AE. So, no, not much has changed *for us. *But pretty much her entire playstyle has changed from SUPER to AE.
In SUPER, she was more of a tactitian. Bob and weave your way in. extreme patience. It was tough for her. But for AE she is an offensive powerhouse. More like a Bulldozer. Seriously, IMO no character can stun and kill a their opponent more quickly. It is due to her blinding speed, the massive damage and stun she harvests, the threat of Blockakusa, and the improved Fukiage.
J., if you start to practice with Makoto now (assuming you only have SUPER) you are in for a big time wakup call. You will go from using a starter pistol to an M1A2 Abrams Tank. Seriously. I’m not even joking. Tierwise, she shot up, literally 30 spots (at least) and it is because of the changes from SUPER to AE.
Now as nuts says, there won’t be too many changes from AE to 2012, so IMO you can get AE now and, pretty much, practice the 2012 makoto. There are very few differences, and most of the differences that are there have nothing to do with gameplay. They are mostly damage changes and a health nerf. But that’s just to appease the rest of the community who thinks that she is OP. All in all, you can buy AE whenever you want.
TL: DR - I suggest you play AE Makoto as opposed to starting with SUPER, because 1)you will get better results and 2)you will have minimal difficulty transitioning to 2012.
Hello everyone,
I’m new here and first want to say this is a great community from everything I read. I have having trouble figuring out options against Sakura and especially when I’m blocking her tatsu combo. I have a decent understanding of makoto and I played her a little bit during SSF4 and then really jump into the pool when AE came out. I’ll try to host a video if that helps to show what I mean. Thanks.
Haven’t tried c.LK into f+LP, but it sounds groovy. Gotta test it out when I actually get time to play. And yes, TC1 followed by c.MP is awesome. I’m surprised how often people try to attack after the TC whiffs.
I love c.LK, but i never used it to link to f.LP… sounds interesting, although I think that trying to go for a meaty c.LK or a CH c.LK into s.LP is better since you can combo after it. I’ve been using a lot of c.LK lately so I’ll try the f.LP out though. Hmmmmm thinking of options after the c.LP…
Oh I’ve also been doing C.LK HC, Dash EX Karakusa lol. Its SOOOOO unsafe but she looks like a ninja. and we love when she looks like a ninja :).
I second this. Man you can get CHs all day long with this. Its something i’ve been meaning to do. Its also something Haitani does, but he mixes it up a bit more IMO. He also uses it a lot after a dashI think this is because of TC1 range… have you ever noticed that its ridiculous lol?
Dash>TC1>block
Dash>Backdash
Dash>HK Tsurugi
Dash>Neutral julmp
Dash>TC1>c.MP for CH
Dash>Blockakusa
Dash(Block, wait for it…) MP Fukiage
and my personal favorite
dash>TC1>c.MP (whiff since they are afraid of the CH), DASH Blockakusa. Trolololol
how he processes this in a match is beyond me lol. But I watched a 5 on 5 of him creaming everyone and he used all of those during the course of the matches. Currently, I’m pretty good with maybe 1/3 of that list (i’m sure his is longer…) utilizing mostly dash HK Tsurugi and dash blockakusa for now.
Sidenote- Yesterday I was playing a really good Gief, and he was beating me. I think i had maybe 10% life or less. I had hit him maybe 2 or 3 times. Then he whiffed a Skittle fist (thats what we call green hand), and I did Karakusa, FFSSxxSuper… BLOCKAKUSA, Ultra 1. KO.
LMFAO.
I went to the lab and found out that this combination does almost 1000 damage lol. Very risky, but i was like fuck it, what do i have to lose??? It was either that or trade with s.MP and die…
Yeaaaaaah
Any suggestions on how to deal with Ibuki Tsumuji (spinkick) pressure strings? They seem reeally safe and lock me down for mixups.
Lol I just block. Idk if u can safely punish it. They can’t do it forever and if they continue to do it once out of range that’s your que. If they are better players they’ll know when and where to stop the pressure but even then there isn’t alot she can do unless your knocked down.
I am SO FREE to Ibuki it’s insane. I don’t think I’ve ever had more trouble against a specific character in a fighting game, and I played Super Makoto vs Balrog and Guile. I never block that kunai the right way.
Hello all. First off, excellent guides here. Been playing with makoto since super dropped and havent found an issue that wasnt already covered. Just have one thing i want to ask. After hitting with an IAT, is there a certain amount of frames you have to wait before doing u1? I accidentally activated her super during a fight. Now my execution isnt the best, but the replay showed a PPP input. I did it again once or twice in training, but couldnt find anything consistent. Im positive i screwed up, but not sure how…
On block you can EX karakusa either the third hit of Tsumuji. Also, usually on block you can EX Karakusa the s.MK if she only does two hit Tsumuji. You can also EX Oroshi through them. Remember to watch out for the overhead and throws though. But just like when you’re blocking Sakura’s pressure, you’ll want to wait for the right moment and EX kara since her block strings are tight (they’re even less tight than Sakura’s i think).
No , no such thing , you can only activate super like that after trying to do ultra after a normal (or trying to do a special move twice , for example i had that issue with cammy before AE , did 2 spirals and got super) maybe you play on pad ? pressed too many buttons ? I dont think tsurugi can be canceled , you are in the air after all , its probably a technical error on your part
im having loads of trouble with the xu tsurugis, i cant get them to crossup, anything i need to know in particular.
