I can manuever around the screen without running into stuff. I know how to safe jump,her footsies and ive started putting in hitkusa/blockusa into my game. I just feel that im lacking the timing on anti airs with her atm so im working on that but that something small because its only 3 chars that give me problems which are seth,akuma and cammy with their dive related kicks. but once i get that down whats next?

hey hey hey — i have some questions to finally finish that book. mostly 2012 changes, and if you have any good new tech (from last nov to now) that you think should be included. sorry, i’ve really been out of the game lately.

1 . 2012 backthrow — seems like it’s 4f less time on the ground now? i can safejump honda (8f ex headbutt) but not viper (7f hpTK) using the old whiff toward+mp setup, which used to be a 4f safejump …
so are the knockdown times now:

2 . what are the ‘new’ setups off backthrow? the only one i actually know is dash forward, nj = 4f safe jump.

4 . did the 2012 changes mess with anything else? is the srk wiki (http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Super_Street_Fighter_IV_AE/Makoto) up to date, frame data wise (damage, frame counter for super, etc.)?

5 . how fast is makoto’s backdash?

I’ll be able to help you out if your at dickens on the 29th. On a side note… Not that I’m looking to counter pick but would sagat/adon/fei/cammy compliment makotos less favorable match ups? Which one could be best?

alright dude. i’ll try to make it out there.

i picked up cammy on the side to deal with rufus. you can’t really go wrong with the killer bee. if you’re having difficulty against fireball characters you should take up adon — he murders guile, while fei struggles in that matchup.

Are there any Hayate Cancel combos you can perform on crouching opponents?

For some reason, st.HP xx HC -> st.MP doesn’t link on crouching, but links on standing. Opponents are at less frame advantage while crouching? This is undocumented on the wiki.
I tested this by replaying 2 hit combos as i stand, and it doesn’t combo if I crouch.

hc>c.lp works. The normal ffs doesn’t work anymore against crouchers.

for the most part. On a lot of characters you can actually land hp>hc>lp>mp.

I was just trying that; It worked on Abel, but not Viper. I guess I’ll just be sitting in the lab for a while.

I’ve actually been in the lab for the past two months figuring out her most damaging combos starting from no meter to full meter/no ultra. I’ll pull a list up right now. It’s interesting finding some of the mid combo meaties she has. Ex. Chun(crouching)= {Iat>f.mp>hp>ex hayate>lp fuki(392)[601]}

Abel,adon,akuma,blanka,chun,Cody,Dan,dj,Dhalsim,dudley,honda(lp>mp^2),fei,gen kinda(c.lp>lp>cr.mp),gouken?,guy,hakan,juri,bison(lp>mp^2),makoto,oni(lp>mp^2),Rufus,sagat,Sakura,hawk,Seth,yang,yun,geif. I can’t remember if I did vega or gouken right. Gouken is lp>lk^mk and vega is written down as unable but that might be cause I was tired and didn’t try with him. Anyone else not listed font get hit by the mp.

Question on movement. Am I pretty much supposed to use back dashes and forward dashes exclusively with Makoto? How do you move around effectively with her? What are the habits that I should start developing in order to space and move myself properly on the stage with this character? I noticed her walk speeds a hell of a lot slower in AE than she is in 3S, not that she wasn’t already slow there.

There is a section on the front page for this, but in short you’re supposed to use her forward normals to close distances. f.mp is a really good one that I overuse. f.lk, f.mk, and f.hk(hold) are also ones you can use. It’s all really dependent on the match up and situation. Of course, you’ll have to work harder to get in on zoning characters, and most rush down characters will close the distance for you. There should be some match up tips on the front page that explains how to get in on certain characters.

Has anyone here been trashed upon for using Makoto? I was on a stream (Peaceful Impact/peacefuljay), dominating everyone, and I eventually lost a few times to people who adapted. I started chatting on the stream chat, and everyone some reason completely ganged up on me, talking about how “brainless” and “effortless” Makoto is. Said I was a “typical online scrub” and just all these things. It really pissed me off but I did ignore it. Why are people so damn salty about Makoto? I remember a year ago, watching Behrudy, he was saying people sent him nice messages for using Makoto. But me? Wtf, I got gang-raped. On wake up, I thought he was going to grab, so I pressed grabbed to tech, but he did some combo instead (DeeJay player) and then everyone in the chat said I am just a masher, all Makotos mash, blah blah blah, Makoto just presses buttons. Wtf. From 1 grab. Why do people despise Makoto so much? I mean… gawd dayum. Another guy was in there who played Makoto, and he got bagged on too. I couldn’t tell if they were serious or trolls.

haters gonna hate. why should any of that matter to you. you’ve probaly been using makoto longer than I have so you already know what youve been through to get to that skill level your at so if you got haters your doing something right.
