You can also do a late crouch-tech or backthrow as your offense if you’re scared of a Shoryuken. Obviously it’s not as good as when a character like Fei Long or other characters with chain cr.LKs do it, but it’s a relatively risk-free way to try and maintain pressure, kind of putting nothing on the line for the chance at that reversaling/getting hit by the throw or cr.LK. Just be careful about people who like to neutral jump on wake-up if you do this, and be ready to AA with Fukiage or at the least cr.MK.

I’ve been having trouble with mixing up Vega, His back flip keeps blowing me up, the only way I’ve found to punish him is a Ex hayate read but i really hate wasting the meter if its blocked, is there a more optimal punish?

Does anyone know how to beat someone who anti-airs every thing you do? I was fighting a Ryu, and he seemed to anti air everything I did… and then I dashed in to do a command grab, but I only got hit. I felt like that was nothing I could have done… can someone help?

You have to be a little more patient, Makoto has plenty of moves to help close the space and apply pressure, instead of going for the jump, fight it out with some crouching and standing medium punches. Use forward medium punch to close space, once he is scared into blocking, then you grab his ayus :]

If I remember correctly the - frames on c.mp hc are like -5/6 but just a normal c.mp is like -1. You are not at advantage either way but depending on your distance you are safer. At a far distance I suppose it baits mashers? Or lulz the opponent into thinking your going to continue into hayate. Personally I’ve stopped using it cause there isn’t any benefit for my gameplay.

Yes, I have Xbox Live. Are you “I Am Number Yun?” Yeah I’d love some help. Also, I just played my best match I ever have. It was against a Dudley. I had a pixel of health left, in the corner, 3rd round. He jumped to try and put pressure on me and I n. jumped and get a heavy kick. I then jumped in on him with a j. HP and a karakusa>u1.
Ohhh I felt so great. What a comeback. It was ranked too. Sooo much tension in that match… goddd I feel great. He was a higher PP than me too :] man I just can’t get over it. lol. I watched his inputs after I karakusa’d. When I did a j. HP, he was calm and did not mash throw. No inputs but 1 back. But when I command grabbed, he mashed the fucking ASS out of his ultra just incase I miss. I lol’d so hard.

yeah, i use to use it a lot until i met a ryu player who punished me EVERY TIME i used it! personally, you can maintain some pressure and position by using it but you have to do so sparingly as with a lot of her cancels. anytime i see a makoto player in a match going crazy with cancels, first thing that pops in my head is that the opponent does not know the matchup… but hey, everybody has their own style!

can someone tell me why i can safe jump everything viper has except u1. heavy thunder knuckle is 7 frames and i can block it but viper u1 is 7 frames and i get hit. i dont understand. also, are the wake up frames in the first page of this thread still valid in 2012?
