AE Makoto to 3S Makoto support thread

  • You have to time the dash kind of late after the kara-Fukiage since you can’t actually “dash cancel” after Fukiage. Practice hitting an airborne character first with Fukiage in training mode, and try to dash forward afterwards. You need to get a good feel of the timing before you put it all together.
  • Makoto’s strategy is “get a karakusa, push them to the corner, go apeshit”, but I get what you mean. :stuck_out_tongue:
  • There are still OE players on 360; try hitting up the 3S subforums for advice and talking with 3S players. (most of us aren’t jerks, I swear!)

@aku -> thanks for the reply, i will try to check out some other forum in order to find european players (im french, so i need to find people around my area).

Other question, does the second fukiage of the 100% stun combo as to be reverse, like the first one ? the combo is :
HP > SA2 > FWD Dash > reverse kara MP fukiage > dash > LP fukiage or
HP > SA2 > FWD Dash > reverse kara MP fukiage > dash > reverse LP fukiage ??

  • You’re in luck, because France is looking to have the strongest 3S scene outside of Japan these days. There’s a French player named BillyKane, you should talk to him regarding finding guys to play with there.

  • Let’s say for example, you’re facing the right. After SA2, you will dash cancel into Fukiage while facing the left. Then you dash to the left and then input Fukiage facing the right.

The inputs will look like this:
SA2 -> :f: :f: -> :b:, :d:, :db:, :hk: ~ :mp:(or :lp:) -> :b: :b: -> :f:, :d:, :df: + :lp:

Thanks a lot aku. I need to practice this f**king second fukiage … the first one is not as hard as it seems, but doing the second one is hella hard !!!

Regarding french scene, i will try to find out this billykane and ask him for contacts.
BTW, I just looked at your devianArt gallery : nice stuff … a lack of pure makoto design, but it’s not so bad …

  • The first Fukiage is the hardest part for a lot of people; took me seven years just to be able to do it once, and this was at the arcade, lol
I do blame a lot of this on the fact that I was practicing on the PS2 for the longest time, though.

  • Check here, have fun.

  • And thanks, even though I’m not a Makoto fan since I play Q(terrible matchup). haha

  • The first fukiage wasn’t so hard to put consistently : the hard part, is to succeed in the kara “i go back” fukiage, but once it’s acquired, it’s not hard to put it on consistent basis (IMO)
  • Thanks for the link, i will post in it soon, with a lot of questions ^^
  • LOL, At first, i was asking myself if i go with makoto (i just love that caracter) or if i go with one of the player i love, TM. But Q seems so hard to play, to fully understand … Anyway, i tried a few of his trials, and cannot finnish them, so i was “ok, let’s go with makoto”, and it was the perfect choice ^^

getting the kara out for the first fuki is not hard, it’s getting the timing as to how late or how early for the opponents character, so that the next fuki will hit is the hard part. the 100% is the hardest thing to learn to do consistently w/ mak imo, well at least for me…

I have a lot of trouble with the jump after the fukiage.
When i want to do the 98% stun combo (SA2 > instant MK tsurugi > reverse MP fukiage > jump HP), i can do all the things EXCEPT the jump HP … I really wonder how to do it : super jump cancel the fukiage ? jump at the exact precise moment the fukiage stopped ? It’s hard =/

Do you have any tips on the makoto vs oro matchup ? i have a lot of trouble with a friend that plays oro …
Thanks

  • You SJC the Fukiage.
  • Stay around poking range, because one parry will lead to chicken juggles. If you think you have a chance, try to get a Karakusa for some damage. He’s probably gonna jump around a lot, so try to react to his jumps and knock him out of the air early(j.HK, or Tsurugi). If Oro starts spamming HK(which he most likely will), try to anticipate it and punish with cr.MP->Hayate. Don’t lose your cool, and try to maintain that sweep range distance. This matchup is dead even, with one mistake costing either of you a bunch of health, so be patient.
I also suggest SA1 here. You’re gonna want to utilize your pokes in this matchup, and SA1 will be able to link off her more important ones like cr.MK and standing MP. Also, Oro has a very high stun gauge so he’s harder to stun than most of the cast.

Thanks again aku (im wondering if you’re alone on this sub forum ^^), i will try those tricks.

The SJC for the fukiage must be done very quickly i guess ? For the oro matchup, my friend told me that oro is cheap : HK / close MP / tengu stone, and it’s all no skill things. I saw that makoto’s crMK is godlike against him, but each time i tried to rush, grab him, and mix him up, i was beaten by this f**king HK …
Anyway, thanks for the answers, i will try this tonight.

BTW, i’m looking for mates to fight with (because there’s not a big french community) … would you like to fight against me ? Are you on the XBL ? =)

  • Yeah, the timing for SJC Fukiage’s kinda strict, both that and the HP itself have to be done early.

  • Like I said, you have to play patient. If you expect him to throw out HK, try to parry and punish until he doesn’t want to throw that move out again. Odds are you won’t be able to grab as much, but try to punish him with it instead then. Oro isn’t cheap; in fact, it’s debatable that Makoto is one of the cheapest in the game. It’s just Oro does surprisingly well in this matchup because he has some great tools to fend her off, not to mention one mistake from either character could lead to big damage. Just switch up your game a little and play it cool.

  • I’d love to, but I don’t play 3S online. Sorry. :frowning:

It is difficult to adjust when Hayate on SF4 can be punished with single hits, while on 3S you have either to block or parry.

Hey there,

Still improving my 3S play, but i switched to Q => Soooo amazing, i really love every move he has, and every combo he can do !! I still have trouble to consistently do the C&DB > dash overhead > dash punch > SA2, but he is freacking awesome.
The main problem i have, is that there’s not a lot of people to play with … =(

Hi Kalote, do you live in Paris? You may be able to find local players here: http://console-league.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

Thanks BillyKane : )
Yes i live in paris, and i can play only when i have friends at home (only those who likes to play SF3.3 … not so much actually). I will go through the link you gave me : )
Maybe we will see each other on paris =)

There are also 2 pretty good arcades in Paris if you are looking for fellow players (Arcade Street in Nation and Versus Dojo in République). We could definitely meet up there if you’re interested, just let me know.

Well, thanks, but i prefer either online play with teamspeak, or IRL play ^^
Maybe i can invite you at home one day, or play online with you =)

When you’re dashing after SAII, you need to reverse SRK to get the Fuki out.

Seeing Yun get pasted while activated still brings a smile after all these years.

Where was I when this thread was made?.. 3S Mak is loads more fun.
