sup guys,

just wanted to ask for help with rog’s jab into ultra…I’ve seen ppl set it up with 3 standing jabs and j. rh>cl.rh>jab ultra…ive been training on this for a while and it seems that i either get a ex upper or ex straight…so does this mean that im getting close to doing it? or am I not doing fast enough? any advice would be awesome!

it means you are doing it too fast. you are getting the ex moves because you are canceling off the jab, but you want a link. also activate ultra with kicks because it comes out 1 frame faster. And this is a myth not sure if its true, but after you activate ultra mash kicks during the freeze. Apparently makes it come out a frame faster but this hasnt been proved yet. But overall this isn’t worth learning

Try to practice with a full super bar. Here are the possible scenarios that would happen:

  1. U1 comes out but the opponent blocks - this means you were late in doing the ultra.
  2. Super comes out - this means you’ve done input too early.

Now in your case, an ex upper or ex straight comes out. If the ex upper adds to the combo count then you’re doing the input too early but the input/motion is wrong. Try turning the inputs on and see if you are doing the proper motion.

Thanks for advice man, but essentially you’re saying its unpratical to do it…i can understand the damage reduction and risk of doing it but it would make an awesome tool to be at your disposal…like an trump card per se

hmm i thought that you just had to do it fast in all one smooth motion…the whole combo i mean…so since you’re basically linking the ultra from the jab, do you slightly pause after the jab, and then input the ultra during the hitstun?

its all about risk reward.
reward: if you hit them does a fair amount of damage
risk: if you miss you die

Yeah you should pause a tiny bit since it’s a link and not a chain. During the hitstun is the time when you should be pressing 3P.
Good thing I have this video stored in youtube. Just a video capture test but the jab > u1 link is there as well as the inputs.
